Lord Zerome, I’ve adjusted your link in the quote above - if you put any word or words in your post within these kind of brackets

[ like this ]

and then put the link directly after it within these kind of brackets

( wwwexampleforzerome.com )

with no spaces between anything, it will make your posts much tidier and easier to read.

As regards that link to the Batman blu-rays, I know they’re officially on the way soon but I didn’t think they’ve been released anywhere in the world yet. The seller seems to be a lot less dubious than sellingstuffagain and the teamblu imposters though so if it is a bootleg, they might be unaware. It’s a good looking one though, I kinda hope that’s what the official release looks like. Not at all in keeping with the tone of the actual animated series but I think it’s quite well put together.

While this is irritating, it’s kind of par for the course with conventions. You could report the seller to the people in charge of vendors at the convention, but in my experience, they’ll pretty much just ignore you. They’re pretty small fish to fry in the grand scheme of things. Bootlegs at conventions have been going on since the earliest days of comic con.

Even though this could be risky, perhaps you could call the police and have them arrest the bootleggers as that would put a stop to it.

Just my personal opinion…

Bloody hell - just look at it - it is missing the right side of the cover sleeve - and the bottom bit too. Looks like cheap letter-quality paper too (wrapped in a brand new cellophane wrapper)- and I’ll go on a limb to suggest as if the quality of the cover is representative of the quality inside that case - then for $30 anyone who has bought that has been ripped off.

Likely a poor quality blu ray disc & case too - and probably also a poor / substandard quality rip - much like those who by *** and are on ebay etc…

…and nothing like the quality of the actual Despecialised Editions linked to on here - available for free, with just a little effort…

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com; some info & answers + FAQs - includes info on how to search for projects and threads on the OT•com

A Project Index for Star Wars Preservations (Harmy’s Despecialized & 4K77/80/83 etc) : A Project Index for Star Wars Fan Edits (adywan & Hal 9000 etc)

… and take your time to look around this site before posting - to get a feel for this place. Don’t just lazily make yet another thread asking for projects.

And look at the top of the sleeve - they’ve clearly used scissors to cut it to size and couldn’t even make it straight!

Anybody who would part with $30, or any amount of money, for something that shoddy needs their head read. The people attempting to sell these should be ashamed of themselves.

Technically you could say it was stolen from Harmy.

No its not, because bootlegging is a crime that those who sell the editions are committing.

All true, but the police really won’t be able to do much as it’s digital piracy. They’ll tell you it’s the copyright holder’s responsibility to take legal action against the bootleggers or the website selling the item. If it was physically stolen by trespass or extortion or violence then they might be interested.

Our only real options here are letting the rights holder know their property has been bootlegged or reporting the seller to eBay.

So basically, our only option is reporting them to eBay.

This still leaves out the physical bootleggers.

What I meant by “digital piracy” is bootlegging digital material. Whether it’s selling the links to a download or using blu-rays as a physical medium it’s still all digital piracy. There’s nothing to do but report them to whatever marketplace they’re selling them on.

Life isn’t fair, the bad guys frequently get away with things. The worst part is that most of them genuinely don’t believe what they’re doing is wrong.

This is a civil matter, it’s not in the police’s purvey…

Well, I don’t know in the US, but there is a Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit in the UK.

Moreover, 2 or 3 years ago, the City of London police has placed advertisements on websites that offered pirated content illegally.

It seems that the same kind of police exists in the US (https://torrentfreak.com/u-s-anti-piracy-police-kept-secret-from-the-public-110811/)

So maybe it is not as obvious as that…

In the United States its one year in prison for a bootleg.

Thank you for this information.
My point is: the fact that it is a civil matter does not prevent the police from having it in its attributions, in the UK anyway. Is it different in the US ?
