I’m getting this error while extracting the ESB Documentaries:

“Could not extract the file “The Empire Strikes Back - Documentaries BD25.iso” from the archive “The Empire Strikes Back - Documentaries BD25.part13.rar”: Failed to write to file”

I’ve redownloaded part 13 and get the same error. Had no other issues so far.

Anyone else getting this?

Thanks!

Did you double check the MD5 of the files with the MD5 file that was provided with the download to verify that they aren’t corrupt? If they verify it might be something else that’s wrong. Lack of disk space maybe? If you’re using 7zip to extract make sure you click the Extract button and not just drag the files onto an Explorer Window. If you don’t have enough free space on Drive C (regardless of whether that’s where you’re extracting it to or not) it will fail because the drag and drop method uses a temporary folder to write to on Drive C before copying it over.

Otherwise, I have no idea.

I just finished downloading all three films (both Harmy’s originals and NJVC’s incredible mods) and started working on the bonus discs. I felt compelled to post here my most sincere thanks to Harmy, NJVC, solkap and everyone in this community for your boundless dedication and hard work. Solkap, your instructions are virtually flawless and I had no problems whatsoever - thank you.

My young children have really taken to Star Wars and while they still have a few years before they’re ready for the films, it’s been a great concern of mine how I was going to be able to have them watch the films for the first time. I haven’t watched the films in years because the thought of watching the corrupted versions just makes me profoundly sad. This weekend, I plan to sit down and watch Episode IV for the first time in at least a decade and I am so incredibly excited to be able to share these films with my children in the manner in which they should be watched. I cannot thank you all enough.

It seems like participation in this forum is pretty hardcore and I am defintely going to stick around for a while, but I’m not sure what I can offer in terms of contribution except snarky commentary. Unfortunately, I’m just about the least artistically creative person in the world. I’m planning to dive into some of the artwork to print out covers for my new DEEDs and I hope I don’t offend anyone with too many newb questions.

Han Shot. Period.

Pretty sure that defeats the purpose here…

First off, thank you so much to everyone involved with this. I’ve been looking for a way to get these for a while. My blurays look nice, but it hurts to see all the added bullshit every time. Only problem I’m having is download speed. I’m working my way through the Empire links and they are going anywhere from 5-15kb/s at the moment. I tried a link for ROTJ and that one was much better. Is it just a case of the Empire links getting pounded, or would upgrading to mega pro help my speed at all?

Wow that is really slow. It might be demand. But my experience is that that one of the prices one pays for all the free space on mega is that it can be finicky. It may be something that will eventually just resolve itself. Take a look at the two comments I posted here.

That is much slower than I saw. Most links are running 7-8 MB/s or maybe a few MB/s and take only a moment or two to finish (and I’m connecting through a VPN). I don’t have a Mega account at all and don’t intend to create one. My ISP connection is rated at 75 MB/s. I am not using a downloader, just my browser.

Every once in a while, I would hit a link that would just drag ass, but those were few and far between.

One out of every four downloads I made would slow to a couple hundred KB/s or lower, but the rest would rocket away.

I also seem to be having difficulty extracting the BD50 ISO for empire. It keeps saying “Could not extract the file ‘The Empire Strikes Back Despecialized 2.0 BD50.iso’ from the archive ‘The Empire Strikes Back Despecialized 2.0 BD50.part001.rar’: Unknown error”. I have downloaded the 82 rar files as well as the mdv (which I cannot open with any application on my mac).

You need an MD5 summer program. I’m sure there’s one out there for Mac. Use that to verify the 500MB part files and make sure none are corrupted.

Yeah it seems it was a few files here and there that would just be really slow. Just finished getting em, now onto the docs. Gonna have to format my c drive to get the space for extraction (I made some poor partition decisions last install). I did check everything with md5checker and it didn’t return any errors, so I should be good, right?

Once again, thank you everybody for this and the help!

I had been going back and forth of downloading the NJVC movie and extra discs or making my own collection. As I’d prefer to not include stuff like Jeremy Jahns and things like that. But I figure it would be pretty hard to track down all these extras.

As far as the “main” extras and things in this NJVC collection. Does anyone know if they are the highest quality versions available of those extras? Not sure if there may be higher quality version out there, but maybe they were compressed and reduced i quality to fit on the disc?

If so, I wouldn’t mind having higher quality versions at the expense of not putting on the stuff like Jeremy Jahns and other stuff like that if I were to make my own collection.

Yeah, you should be good. BTW, would it be worth it to buy a 256 gig flash drive? Either as a place to move the rars or a place to extract them? They are usually about $50, but it might be worth it, as I would think an entire C drive reformat would be a real hassle.

Have you tried messaging NJVC? I doubt he’ll send you any files directly given the piracy issues surrounding his work, but he might be willing to answer that question and/or point you to his sources.

Don’t really think NJVC or others should be pm’d with tons of questions like that. Just put it out there encase others so happened to know.

a request for some assistance with Despecialized from Harmy…

Harmy said:

Guys - I could use some help - I remember some time ago, someone was working on a shotlist for the SW movies and I can’t find it. But what I’d really need is someone helping me catalogue all the shots that need despecializing and making a system that will make it easier for me to keep track of the shots and what they need done.
My idea is this table, where I could keep track of the progress on all the shots:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NwFnvrRp3CnyDOdr9W1__8PLBGwH8WOKkl8mjke8LQs/edit?usp=sharing

So, would I find volunteers, who would help me by going through Doubleofive’s galleries and putting all the shots down in this table and looking them up in GOUT and BD and putting in the timecodes?

When this is done and I start working on v3.0, the plan is to keep the table public, so you guys can check on my progress and every once in a while, when all shots in a sequence have status Pending Final, I want to post the sequence as a work-print and only after I get positive feedback on it, I will mark the shots as final.

This will make you guys more involved again, like in the old times, and it should help keep me more motivated. 😃

Please send him a PM if you can help…

Yeah, I totally forgot I could extract without it making a temp folder on the c drive. Got em all extracted. Thanks! One more question. Anyone try to just mount these and play them on their computer? I’ve run into all sorts of weird issues using vlc, and kodi I can get to at least play everything it’s just real slow in the menus. I’m holding off on buying a bluray burner for a little bit.

Try Leawo Bluray Player. It’s free and works pretty well. I had some initial problems with VLC as well.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but on the ANH iso chapters and fast forwarding does not work. I have all 82 parts of version 2.7 for BD50 and the md5 file and I tried decompressing them with unarchiver on Mac and had issues with chapters and fast forwarding where the sound would play but the image would not. I tried decompressing the files on Windows with 7zip to see if I would get the same results and I did. Can someone help me figure out what is going on?
