Cool! I will keep that in mind if anybody else ever wants to know!

Finished my downloads…now just waiting for my blank discs to come in. Where do I find Blu Ray disc covers and also the cover art for the Blu Ray cases? Any advice on paper and other materials to use? Thanks!

Does anyone use Digistor Blu-Ray discs?

Hi Ryan,

I’ve never tried those and the listings I’m finding look expensive. Is there a reason why you’d prefer them to Verbatim besides the labeling issue? For what it’s worth, I have found that printing over any small bit of writing on the discs covers it better than you might expect.

I ordered them because they are a solid white printable label and because they are made in Japan and they advertise them as having a hard disc coating. I believe Verbatim has their blank Blu-Ray discs made in different locations that are hard to tell where by the listing on the internet. But I’ve read the made in Japan discs are the best.

I bought the discs for data back for my computer as well as burning Harmy’s Star Wars version on Blu-Ray. So I was mostly interested in good data preservation first and foremost.

Also I believe Verbatim makes low quality and high quality Blu-Ray discs. I don’t know what prices you are comparing. But I believe the “good” Verbatim discs are marked “DataLifePlus”.

I also bought some M-Disc’s inkjet printable Blu-Ray’s that I planned to use for my first Harmy Star Wars Blu-Ray’s set. But those were 25G, and so are too small for NJVC new custom set. I have read that with M-Disc’s you don’t want to burn all the way to the edge. i.e. you don’t want it filled up 100% max. As I’ve read of some people getting corrupted data along the disc’s edge.

I’ll send you a PM since those questions are better covered in other threads. 😃

To Ryan:

There’s no reason not to try burning on the ones you have if they are 50 gb for SW, ESB, ROTJ, & ROTJ bonus discs, and 25 gb for SW bonus & ESB bonus discs. It’s just that I can’t vouch for that brand. And I can vouch for Verbatim discs.

Yes, I’ve got 50GB and 25GB Digistor Blu-ray inject printable discs. I was originally deciding between Verbatim DataLifePlus and the Digistor discs.

If you go with Verbatim, it’s best to go with the DataLifePlus. As those are more of an archive type disc with HTL, and I believe should have less errors than their other discs.

I hate to be ‘that guy’ but because of my current situation I don’t have a means of following this process on my own. I only have access to a work computer and I won’t have the resources to buy a personal computer for at least a year.
I guess that I’m asking if there is anyway for me to at the very least see the despecialized edition once. I own every movie and every season of Rebels and I would love to own the closest thing that we have to the original theatrical release but honestly I would just settle for seeing A New Hope once.
Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide to a desperate Star Wars fan. I’ve been following the despecialized edition every since I heard about it two years ago and am pretty excited that I’m this close.

There’s no way to stream it that I know of if that’s what you mean. Gotta download it.

That did cross my mind but I was thinking either getting my hands on a disc (like the old netflix where you borrow a disc then send it back) or being invited to see it (I live in the Rocky Mountains and travel around the US for work). But if there is honestly no way for me to see it other than downloading it, well I’ve got all the proper links saved away and maybe in a year or two I’ll get the necessary equipment.
My dream is to have a setup like Harmy’s with a big projection screen and surround sound and this will be the first thing I watch on it.
Also, if this is appropriate for this forum then I’ll gladly delete my inane comments.

Hi Biomedic. Do you have access to public libraries? If you are very patient and very methodical, with a flash drive of sufficient size you could download the necessary files for the stand alone movies from the computers there. It would take several seperate trips, but it could be done.

If what you most want is just to see the films, a 128 gig flash drive should hold a portable version of winrar, all the rars to the MKV versions of all three films found here and have room enough for the extracted MKVs as well.

Once you have all the files to a particular film, you could use a portable version of winrar to unpack them onto that same thumb drive.

Watching them at home without a home computer, though, is a pretty tall order. I don’t think that’ll be possible unless you enlist the help of a friend with laptop you could borrow.

Solkap. I’m not super computer savvy (never having had my own to mess around with) so I can’t claim to understand everything that you said but I think that you’re right that with some patience I will be able to figure out this process and get them onto a portable drive. I really appreciate your response and will spend some time doing my research.

If your tv is capable of playing media from a USB drive it may be worth getting a friend to download the Despecialzied Editions for you, and then copy them to a USB drive?

There are a fair few different sizes and formats out there on public torrent sites. It’s not ideal - but a decent stop-gap/alternative until you get your own pc and equipment etc…

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Hey Frink. Thats the forum I’m using to distribute my mega links to the NJVC discs. It’s in the first post. 😃

(Also, in case anyone’s curious, the letters were intentional. It’s an acronym for “Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Return Of The Jedi Blu-Ray Mega LinkS”

MCBarkingSpoon, I’ll help you out. I’ll send you a PM in a about 30 minutes. But first…coffee…

I’m on a Mac and have completed the download of all the RAR files and have used Unarchiver to get the .iso.

However, when I open the .iso file through Disk Manager and get the BDMV file it simply says “cannot open.”

Do I need to convert the BDMV to a different file type? Do I need to redownload from Mega? Any help is appreciated here.

Nevermind. Got it to work. Wasn’t using the blu-ray player software. Cheers.

I was simply trying to play it before burning it to make sure the file was working properly, but I got it to work. was simply using the wrong software to try to play it.

Hi everyone. I am using a Mac and would like to know what the best method is for burning the ISO file to blu-ray. I selected the file and from the Finder toolbar selected File -> Burn Disc Image to Disk. But after inserting the disk and the dialogue box saying “Waiting for drive” a new message appears saying “Waiting for disk to be inserted” even though the disk has already been in the drive. Is there better software I should use to burn the image to disk? Thanks for the help!

Do you have a blu-ray burner drive? They don’t come with the computer, you have to buy them separately. Blu-rays won’t work in the standard DVD drives that come with computers. A DVD drive won’t be able to read them, thus the “Waiting for disk to be inserted” message.

Yes I have a blu-ray burner drive. I’ve used it in the past to rip/backup some of my blu-ray collection. But I’ve never used it for burning.

Well if you’ve followed the guide to the letter, the first thing I would think would be that it’s a hardware problem.

But it sounds like you’ve been able to use your drive witbout issue before.

I am not very familiar with macs. Is there a way to check to see if you can browse to the empty disk in a file explorer (in essence outside of ImgBurn) just to see if the disc is faulty?

I’ve heard Toast is the best for burning ISOs on Mac.

The problem was my Samsung se-506 blu-ray drive. After obtaining another drive, the process went smoothly.
