Too soon? Possibly. But what the heck.

How does JJ finish… what he started?

(Note: trailers, Disney approved magazine articles, etc are NOT spoilers).

Go!

I had a whole post written, but deleted it because I’m sure someone would click on this thread, mistaking it for the TLJ SPOILER FREE thread, and be in for a sour surprise. I’ll sit on that original post for now.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Too soon?

Yup.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

You’ve never made a mistake? Good job.

Oh come on. If someone else had made that same mistake you would have been all over them. In fact you chew people out or mock them for less all the time in other threads. The lack of self-awareness is laughable.

I do care (not about you, so much 😉)

They really should keep RJ to finish it…

dear God. No. Please…no

The guy has a point of view about SW and its essence. JJ is just a (talented ?) fan boy who wants to repeat things we already know. I prefer a bad yet daring movie (VIII) to a more or less good but safe and unsurprising one (VII) (and I’m not even talking about that terrible flick called Rogue One).

Star Wars is dead… long live Star Wars !
It is time… for the New Star Wars… to RISE !

How exactly is a film that lazily retells the story of TESB virtually beat by beat (except for one slight detour to the finale of ROTJ) a “daring movie”?

I don’t know because I haven’t seen that movie yet.

TLJ was very good though.

I hate to quote myself, but I’ll leave this here:

Wexter said:

  • A group of Rebels is evacuating from their hidden base after being discovered by the Empire. They are not able to flee through the hyperspace because of technical difficulties.
  • A group of characters sets out to meet a scoundrel, who might be able to help them out. However, he turns them in to the Empire.
  • The protagonist from the last movie meets an exiled Jedi Master. After some hesitation the master agrees to teach her about the Force. She then encounters a reflection of herself in a dark cave and leaves before the training is complete.
  • The protagonist believes there is still good in the villain, so she turns herself over to him. He brings her to his master who reveals he was behind it all. He is about to kill the protagonist, but the villain turns on him and kills him.
  • The villain then invites the protagonist to help him bring new order to the galaxy, but the protagonist escapes.
  • Then there’s a battle with speeders and AT-ATs.
  • And the Jedi Master becomes one with the Force after delivering his final lesson.

What did I miss?

vague lists can tie practically anything together. this is so 2015/2016…

It’s funny, my mom had the exact same complaint (“It was just Empire with a little bit of Jedi thrown in!”) but none of the rest of us saw that at all. At least, it wasn’t a nearly-beat-for-beat rehash the way TFA was of ANH (and I say that as a big fan of TFA).

I’d say these points are pretty specific, but of course that is up to anybody to decide.

Please, feel free to include any TLJ plot points that my outline is missing.

It’s true it’s very close to TESB with an entire ROTJ sequence. But during the screening I was more thinking about The Two Towers for some reasons.
