That title is immensely offensive to the English language. I would sort of like a Heart of Darkness type documentary about what really went down on that set and in that editing room though.

Heart of Darkness is a VERY charitable comparison. I think it would be closer to Lost Soul.

Good point. I’d love to know what really happened.

I’m assuming Star Wars was part of the deal? They don’t mention it.

Eh? Specifically mentions 20th Century Fox.

I know, I just found it odd that they mentioned X-Men and not Star Wars.

Because to the general public, Disney getting ANH distribution rights doesn’t matter since they already own Lucasfilm and make Star Wars movies, while Disney getting ahold of X-Men and Fantastic Four is bigger news.

And sadly, those two things are all anyone seems to be focusing on with this deal…

“People” want X-Men meets Avengers movies. Why would they need Star Wars? They have Star Wars. They have had Star Wars: CGI Song and Dance Edition for 20 years and they probably like it.

While I personally don’t really like the idea of Disney buying everything, I don’t think they’ve done anything wrong with their acquisitions yet (LucasFilm and Marvel Studios feel way separated from the main company in my opinion and I think that’s intentional in their part) they don’t dare put the Disney logo on any SW or Marvel movie and seem to be doing a decent job maintaining all these properties that they have the rights to, basically they’re just treating these studios that they’ve merged into their own as separate entities in their own right while still under one main studio, it reminds me of touchstone pictures in a way which is/was (are they still around) owned by Disney but treated as its own studio or production company that being said I think we’ll be ok

Yeah. I really didn’t think this through.

I still say the restoration of an unaltered OT would be a much bigger deal than we’re giving it credit for.

As for what Fox will become under Disney, we seem to forget that Miramax never became a pg-13-only company after the Mouse House bought them out back in 1993.

To who though? The Special Editions aren’t one of the best selling home releases ever because people just want to own fan edits with a clean conscious…

Correct. Some of us initially bought it because it was the only option and it was better than nothing. Probably not an unsubstantial number of people.

First off, I agree 100%, just because Fox will be owned by Disney doesn’t mean it will be CONTROLLED by Disney. They’ll still let Fox do their own thing and not interfere, less they do a project together.

Second, Touchstone is still around. Their next co-production Glass is set for release in 2019. And again, if they released their Marvel and SW titles under that banner, it could probably help generate business even interest again for Touchstone.

And the other 99% bought it because they want to watch the Star Wars and they have it now.

Easy sell for a marketer.

So Disney could own Fox by next week then they would be allowed to rerelease the OUT although they have clearly restored them already cause remember at SWC 2017 they showed some deleted scenes and they also had to restore for R1 so they may have already restored them or have Mike Verta’s Legacy but can’t release them cause Fox owns rights to Star Wars, so if they buy Fox then they could announce it a while afterwards and maybe release it with Solo: A Star Wars Story, May 25th 2018 or release it in January at a stretch who knows anything is possible.

Kind Regards Jason

😀

P.s: Or they could release a bundle of the Special Edition from 1997 with the really shitty Jabba, and the original theatrical cut in 4k with no grain and good colour timing and the original Fox logo.

You mean we can’t have Terminator vs Alien Vs Star Wars Vs Predatror movies… This is a really sad day 😦

It’s an interesting idea but again it depends if people remember or care about what happened in 1997.

Careful, saying stuff like that out in the open about a “new” membet might get you a ban from the Thought Police around here these days.
