Wish I could forget. Never going to be able to enjoy Tales Of The Gold Monkey again either. That was a cool show. Saw some of the sets on the Universal Studios Tour when it was still in production.

I have an easy enough time divorcing actors from their characters, so this news won’t impede my ability to watch TOS or the TOS movies in the future. Regardless, it’s not nice hearing this about Takei. I liked him; he seemed like a good man.

With all these allegations coming out almost daily now, the possibility of someone seeking publicity or simply getting revenge is there. Going to give Mr. Takei the benefit of a doubt until the picture becomes clearer.

I’m extremely reluctant to give anybody the benefit of the doubt, regardless of their game or belovedness.

Nobody says you have to, but you don’t have to break out the torches and pitchforks either. It’s good that celebrities with long histories of abusive behavior are being exposed, but at what point does hysteria take over and it becomes a mass witchunt?
Anybody with an axe to grind is going to get their 15 minutes in the limelight, (even though it’s not the good kind) take someone’s career down and won’t have to prove a thing in the court of public opinion.

Some people crave attention, any kind of attention. There are people who confess to unsolved crimes all the time who didn’t do it, or claim to have insider knowledge of who did and have none.

That doctrine applies to courts and the law. I can believe whoever I want to, but I would not approve of just throwing any of the recently accused into prison without due process of law. That’s basically an authoritarian state.

It’s also possible both parties were drunk off their asses and Takei doesn’t remember a thing about a night 36 years ago. People do really dumb things when they’re drunk. There’s no real way to know, but the commenters on that youtube clip have already convicted him.

Stay away from alcohol kids! I’d wager 70% of assaults happen because of that.

Sad to hear about the news with Louis C.K.
Pretty messed up what he did and can’t believe he knew about it all along and kept it under wraps. I always loved his comedy and now some of his jokes feel a bit too real.
At least he gave the most raw and honest apology yet out of anyone.
