6 DVD Box Set for this November

Author
Time
There was a Report at "TheForce.net" about a 6 DVD Box Set of all the films but they do not think its going to be the Super Set just yet.
GL is going to "Milk it, till the Cows come Home, or Drys up." I would guess. I think I will just get ROTS Stand Alone.

They Report Street Date is 11/01/05. (Do not know if this is The Official Date , but IMO it sounds about right.)

The great question here is, will these be the rumored "Archive Editions," or just the same old thing in a new package? My guess is the latter, as there hasn't been much time for Lucas & Co. to finalize the saga yet (if there is such a thing). But here's hoping we get a digital Yoda in Episode 1 and OT deleted scenes.

"Finalize the saga." Hmm...

My view is that now Lucas can view all six of his films together and hopefully gain some kind of new perspective, and he just may be able to give the thing coherance.
That is, of course, if the OOT is included as well.

If not, give me the 2004 editions any day.

Most likely this is just a Fox Home Video repack of the existing (and soon to exist re:EpIII) DVDs. This happens all the time as sequels in franchises come out. Heck, look at what Paramount did with the Star Trek films- the first DVD versions all came out in a box set, then as each 2-disc director's edition came out sequentially they just repacked the box sets over and over again as 'new' sets. Or the Blade trilogy... there was a 2-disc box, then when part 3 came out the studio repacked into a 3-disc box, etc etc etc. The LOTR releases were the same way.

It doesn't take much money for a studio to create a cardboard box and pack in some existing dvd releases.

Releasing a 6-film 'finalised' boxset this year would possibly rule out any 30th anniversary edition release - oops I forgot we were dealing with Luca$ here...

I would prefer a puppet Yoda in II and III myself except for the obvious fight scenes. If they want to replace the puppet in Ep I, I'd rather it be with the original puppet. After watching ESB again yesterday, I found that piece of latex more believable than the multi-million dollar collection of pixels. Computer Generated still looks computer generated.

But I agree, the doggone OT deleted scenes should have been released last year, and frankly they should make them available in full resolution online using your DVD as your key to the exclusive content. That's fair.
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

The only thing I really want is a remastered TPM. The transfer on that DVD is horrible and nowhere near as clean as AOTC and, presumably, ROTS.

I also think the ESB puppet Yoda is the most believable Yoda, but a CGI Yoda in TPM would be more consistent with AOTC and ROTS.

I'm hesitant to buy any Star Wars box sets, new content or not, due to the impending release of BluRay and HD-DVD. Lucas took his time with the DVD release of the OT so he could do some more work, but I think the HD releases will hit the market much sooner.

In my opinion, this will probably be a... *counts on fingers* 11-DVD box set. 2 discs per per prequel, 1 per OT, than an extra disc for each trilogy. But I suppose we'll see, won't we?

most sites are saying november 8th for revenge of the sith 2 disc dvd. The true box set will not come out till the 30th anniversary of a new hope. Besides lucas announcement of 3d treatments for all six films, at 1 a year, I have heard reports of another theatrical release of all six movies for the anniversary. so who knows what will happen, but since the hd format is not coming out to at least next year, the ultimate box set probalbly i'm betting is a least a couple years away, lucas is going to use this format to do a definitive young indy experience. coming out also earlier in november reportedly is clone wars dvd part 2. And next year star wars t.v. show.

The only release I would care of about is the release of the OOT.

I'll get the ROTS widescreen disc. I have I and II, and have no need of an SE DVD. If they include the OOT......

Made for IE Forum's Episode III theme month - May 2005.

There are plenty of unsold copies of last years OT release on the shelves of stores,we won't get anything more than a repackaged set, after all this is George's current (2004-5) vision of the two trilogies , I think this will be a pretty lazy repackaging effort in a similar way that they released episdoe1 and 2 together in a slipcase box, I'm not sure that George and fox would incur the wrath of fans by offering anything new and unavailable, although it would be cool to see that ugly muppet yoda from episode 1 replaced. I think it's too early for George to start dabbling with his latest trilogy just yet.

Although I did notice that episode 1 & 2 were re-issued on dvd about a month ago in Australia at a heavily discounted price, same packaging nothing changed, so maybe they are trying to run out remaining stock of the current version.

Like Coffee and Hoichi, I could give a rat's ass about this box. I just want Sith 2-Disc on DVD. I was suddenly having this fear that LFL was only going to release Sith as part of this six discer and not on its own. I wouldn't put it past the Evil Empire.

I pretty much agree with you. The only thing that would make me buy the OT set is if they offered the OOT or maybe even fixed some of the issues with the Hope disc. Other then that, and I'd hold off and just buy the Sith DVD.

The continual release of "true" and "final" editions every year or so with more and more
"upgrades" is gettin to be rigodamndiculous!

Luca$ should just reshoot Ep4 and 5 over again with new actors and effects and be done with it!!!!
THEN he can move on to making eps 7, 8, and 9.

Oh wait there won't be a 7, 8, and 9. He'll be too busy releasing new definitive box set editions
of the prior 6 with effects and scenes upgrades for the next 10 years!

Speaking of the never-to-be 7,8 and 9- who's to say they have to be set within the lives of Luke, Han, et al? What if it were (non-EU) younger adults several years after the events of ROTJ embarking on their own adventures and just referring back to what happened before much like Ep 4 did when is came out?

You could even have Mark Hamill make a surprise appearance in it towards the end as a Force ghost to direct the new Jedi hero, whomever he or she may be.

This set is gonna be an uber-cheap rush job just to milk a few more bucks.

Just don't buy it.

I have read for a fact that they did redo yoda in CG for Ep. 1 as a warm up for the stuff they were going to do in 3. They also said they are converting over/new print of TPM (ATOC/ROTS both done in High def natively). Whether that is for Nov.1st release or in 2007, who knows.
16 years I wait and this is what I get???

OKAY, HERE'S SOME "OFFICIAL" NEWS ON THE 6-DISC SET. IT WON'T COME OUT UNTIL SOMETIME IN 2006. ON THE FLIP SIDE THE ROTS DVD WILL STREET IN NOVEMBER. HOWEVER, MY SOURCES HAVE INDICATED THAT IT MAY EVEN STREET EARLIER THAN THAT. MOST OF MY SOURCES NOW ARE TELLING ME THAT THE ROTS DVD WILL STREET IN OCTOBER, 2005. I'M STIL BETTING THAT IT WILL BE IN NOVEMBER. THE CLONE WARS VOL. 2 DVD SHOULD COME OUT AROUND THE SAME TIME. EXPECT THE 6-DISC SET TO COME OUT TOWARDS THE END OF 2006 AFTER THE HD-DVD/BLU-RAY FORMAT WAR HAS SETTLED DOWN A BIT.
