We have truly reached a low point in our society.

Yes, I agree - the president has publicly called citizens peacefully protesting “sons of bitches.” Despicable.

I meant to add the following to my post:

Dear Trump,

Shut the fuck up about the Anthem situation. You are only making things worse.

Sincerely,

The Warbler

The fact that you think the protests are the low point says a lot.

Citizens peacefully protesting:

Would it be wrong for the President to call them “sons of bitches”?

The only comparison you could make that’s more absurd would be to bring up actual Nazis.

“Hey, Nazis were upset with the state of Germany, these football players are upset with the state of America… you think that’s a coincidence?”

An MLB player knelt yesterday.

I notice that in some cases, players kneeling still remove their hat and/or hold their hand over their heart. Still nobody has been able to explain how kneeling is a sign of disrespect.

can’t say I am surprised. The playing of the National Athem is no longer a time to reflect and honor our country, it is now a tool to make political statements.

And if people are going to boycott football, what the heck are they going to do on game nights? Turn and talk to their spouses?

Holy shit Warb.

I was simply trying to show that some peaceful protests are bad. I think we agree that I picked a good example of a bad peaceful protest.

I have every right to be of the opinion that the peaceful protest of the National Anthem is a bad peaceful protest(but nowhere near as bad as what the Westboro Baptists did).

I don’t know why you would bring up the Nazis here. They were definitely not peacefully protesters.

Pissing all over symbols and representations of what young men bled and died for directly in front of veterans who are just trying to enjoy a ball game is no where near as bad?

The Westboro clowns are just paid performance artists. There’s no sincerity in what they do.

It’s all designed to divide 50/50 and infuriate every one against every one so when the internet goes down by foreseeable event or the killswitch we will have maximum culling.

To be honest Warbler, some may be struggling as to why you brought up the Westboro Baptists into this right now - unless you are trying to equate the protests of Westboro Baptists to the protests that occurred today?

And it seems obvious the Nazis were brought into this conversation as an ironic statement, yes?

That yellow ‘bullshit’ flag you posted - on it’s own with no comment - could be considered quite inflammatory - and I’m also aware there may be those looking to push your buttons too.

So, everybody play nice - let us all not go over old familiar ground yet again, and let’s stick to what has occurred today, or other political events taking place.

Now, Puggo has made a decent point here…

For me, kneeling in this manner honours both the anthem and what it symbolises - yet is still an effective form of protest.

On a slightly different tangent I would say this criticism of NFL players protesting is quite a classic case of Trump deflecting away from the purpose of the protests - the causes of them, his inaction and and unwillingness to engage on the matter at hand…

I wonder why that is, and seems to be the case on a lot of political points during his term as President thus far?
