Assimilate THIS!

To Ady and all who made this possible, thank you. Watching this edit was everything I dreamed of and more. Just like ANH:R a decade ago, it accomplished what three Lucas helmed attempts never could: make a Special Edition with changes that were not only enjoyable and logical, but fun as well. This will be my go-to version from now on, and I can’t wait to see what the future will bring. It may have been 9 long years, but it was DEFINITELY worth the wait. Again, thank you, and may the force be with you, always.

Some things I would want to point out after downloading this 8GB connection-reaper:

-Though I have only skimmed through the parts that had changes, this movie is a MASTERPIECE. For example, the Hoth scenes are really breathtaking, showing the beauty of Hoth. The effects are invisible, not jarring and does NOT affect the story. That’s how I would want to see the SE.

-The Wampa scenes are better than I had expected it to be. Though I thought that it wouldn’t work out due to the Wampa being “extremely difficult to wear”.

-I just saw some compression artifacts here and there, an atom-sized amount of quality drops, (This might possibly be my laptop, I don’t know 😕) but again, it is not noticeable.

-Overall, this movie is again, A work of art that must be preserved. Hoping to see ROTJ:R and ANH:RHD in the next few years!

Ady- I sincerely offer what might come across as the most backhanded compliment of the night-

Thanks for keeping it subtle. Thanks for keeping it reigned in.

I was a little worried after all of the praise you received for ANH:R that it would all go to your head and you would go all 1990s George Lucas on us and deliver a piece of art mixed with hot garbage. As the years rolled on, and the number of edits grew, so did my concern that you might wreck it.

But I was sincerely wrong- all of your hard work is hidden behind a beautiful Empire Strikes Back which highlights what a great film it is, and you didn’t use it to spotlight yourself at all.

I mean all of that in the most complimentary way possible- despite how it might sound.

You made an incredible thing- and didn’t fall to the Dark Side doing it. A+

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

Yeah love that shot Really gotta say I enjoyed it.

On that shot in the 16mm / 8mm version there is audio for the soldiers shouting while running away, I thought Ady might have restored that on that shot.

There are so many things that it’s hard to take it all in, but it does not stray very far from the theatrical or special edition in terms of structure and this can be both a good and a bad thing, but ultimately I felt it was very, very well done respectful and I felt perhaps this compared to ANH:R was restrained or restraint somewhat slightly as this was more in the ilk of a lick of paint and enhancement. Love the the new mattes and models and the Wampa.

Yoda is bonkers and I really enjoyed the revisited version. That is all I am going to say apart from once again thanks for all your hard work!

I believe Ben Burtt’s name was misspelled in the end credits as “Benn Burtt.”

Also, there was “1-800-PHONEY-THX,” but I guess that’s a joke.

No mere combination of words can express how much seeing this meant to me. Trying to conjure them is an act of futility.

When is the DVD-5 version coming out?
Already have the MKV version but I’m just curious.

This question has been answered many, many, many times. The answer is right in Ady’s post as well as on the WordPress. Please do your homework first.

He said he will do a DVD-5 alongside the MKV for now, while the DVD-9 version and the Blu-ray ISO will come later.
He said that the DVD-5 will come shortly after the MKV but the DVD-9 and the Blu-ray will come much later.

And if you can’t wait, ‘AVStoDVD’, ‘MultiAVCHD’, and ‘BDRebuilder’ are three different free programs that will convert the MKV to a DVD-5 or DVD-9.

The wampa is… O_o

Has the Wampa actually been changed ?

Very impressed by the new material of the Hoth battle.

Is anyone noticing some odd overlaid imagery at 1:45:17? It looks like a mask transparency was left visible during the scene. Is this just me?
I loved the additions to the battle at Hoth. Especially the AT-ST that gets shot and staggers backwards and the AT-ST that gets smashed by the AT-AT falling. Great work Adywan!

I’ve probably watched the Battle of Hoth four times by now. What has been done is just amazing.

Tonight I’ll finally be watching this!
Can’t effing wait!!! Thank you, Ady!!! I’m way more excited for this than I was for Rogue One or even TFA!
Anyone in Prague, Czech Republic want to join me? I’ll be watching on a 100" projection screen 😃
Also, a question - seeing that there are quite a few subtitle options available - is there maybe some sort of script that can retime GOUT synced subtitles to work with Revisited?

Uh oh. I’m having trouble downloading it. 0 bytes a second. What am I supposed to do?

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

The file is 7.58gb and I’m trying to make an AVCHD version using tsMuxeR then burn with ImgBurn, but the files total to 8.25gb and therefor too big to fit on a DVD9. Even after removing all the subtitles it still slightly too big. Any suggestions?

I wasn’t sure at first because of a few things here and there I wasn’t convinced with, but after watching the all edit I must say I don’t only think it’s “just” an interesting take on TESB, I now do think it’s really going to become my only way to watch it from now on. Hoth battle, Bespin, the Emperor, Dagobah… I like the SE/brd additions (Wampa cave, EpIII Emperor, Vader going back to his ship) but this Revisited version is better in every way possible (without even mentioning the very nice colors). Nicely done Ady (as well as all the people who have provided help when needed), I hope you enjoyed working of this edit and I’m glad you share it with other SW enthusiasts. I’ll be sure to share it with people not familiar with fan edits as well.

SW is lucky to have such dedicated fans to improve the all saga experience. Thanks to all of you guys, you’re awesome.

I’ve just checked, and you are right. Strange thing is, when checking in the after effects project file, there is no mask that could be causing that. It has me baffled.

Amazing work, Adywan! I never expected any less. Worth the wait!!! I don’t have any complaints other than that my name is spelled wrong in the credits, but it’s not a big deal.

Ooops, sorry. 😦

These errors will be fixed for the Blu-Ray.

Why did you keep “A News Corporation Company” in the 20th Century Fox logo? The current logo, as of 2013, doesn’t have it anymore.

Because i wanted to. 😉

I’m glad you guys are enjoying it 😃

Adywan, just finished watching it all the way through, absolutely amazing work! I love that you added such wonderful subtle details like condensation on Han in Carbonite and the spider on Dagobah.

My only complaint is that, like asterisk8, my name was misspelled in the credits – it’s written as “Max Gersham” when it should say “Max Gershman.” If it’s at all possible to fix it for the BluRay that would be great but it’s no problem either way, I understand if you want to leave the credits as-is.

Also in regards to text, I noticed that a few parts of the English subtitle track have little errors like no punctuation in one part and a few words being omitted (Han calling Leia “sweetheart” isn’t written out in the subtitles a few times), but again, no big deal if it’s left the way it is.

Thank you so much for this massive undertaking. It’s surreal to think that it’s been a little over 9 years now since the project was started. We all appreciate you so much for persevering and giving us something truly magnificent.

In the spirit of Blu-Ray fixes, something I noticed: the shot of R2-D2 is reversed (like I assume it always has been) at around 1:01:03. Knowing that Ady seems to despise reversed shots I was wondering if that was intentionally left alone or if that is an error.

Ha! Loved the ‘…filmed in a house in England’ - and also the ‘No wampas were hurt in the making of this movie’ in the end titles 😃

Now that’s enough of all this praise and thanks - when are you starting work on the one true Prequel Trilogy? ‘The Holiday Special : Revisited’, ‘Caravan Of Courage : Revisited’ and ‘The Battle For Endor: Revisited’ mate? 😉

The Battle of Hoth was amazing and Cloud City looks gorgeous. Awesome work Ady. I was really impressed by how invisible and seamless most of the edits were, after a while I stopped looking for changes and just got sucked into the movie.

My only quibble is the Red Bacta since it contradicts Rogue One and Clone Wars but I’ll live with it (or make my own version).
