I’ve toyed with the idea of dropping hundreds of Sebastian Shaw Anakin figures on tiny parachutes over their corporate offices, but it would be probably be expensive and illegal. 😉

They would probably wonder who the old guy in the gray Jedi outfit is. 😉

Star Wars Show today talked about the 40th, no mention of any announcements, so nothing’s happening tomorrow.

The official site now has a 40th anniversary hub, but as expected not a single frame or still, that’s not a production photo or behind the scenes photo, looks even remotely like the theatrical release. There’s a section devoted to the Star Wars frames book (2013), all of which originate from the bluray master. As far as the official site is concerned the OT films exist in one form only, the final cuts. The theatrical versions are dead and burried.

The header photo on starwars.com is embarrassing–that frame is only 20 years old!

It isn’t possible that Vanity Fair would have that scoop, is it? I read today that they’d be publishing articles every hour on the hour starting at 6:00 a.m. EST tomorrow, but I assume it’s all TLJ stuff.

I can just see the 50th passing by with the same results - no restoration of the OOT, and another generation of kids discovering the SE’s.

I can’t believe this is happening or being allowed to happen. Crazy!

In a world where Survivor has run 34 seasons and Donald Trump was elected President of the United States and Lil Wayne is a popular musician, the OOT’s treatment seems only par for the course.

Somewhat ironic, the content of the voice-over for this, the ‘one last time’, Original Trilogy VHS advert:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9077YR0t9E

"For those who remember
For those who will never forget
and for a whole new generation who will experience it for the very first time

The Star Wars Trilogy…
Three timeless adventures which changed movie-making forever.
Now, the entire Trilogy digitally remastered in THX for the ultimate in sound and picture quality.

This will be your last chance to own the original version of Star Wars…
The George Lucas masterpiece that launched the Star Wars Trilogy.

The Force is forever - for all generations

The original Star Wars Trilogy on video - one last time…"

^ maybe a new voice-over on a riff of the same advert above is required to highlight the lack of availability of the OOT for 20 years?

Y’know… for those of us who do remember, for those of us that won’t forget, and for that generation of Star Wars fans who have never seen the original theatrical versions…

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!
