Star Wars 40th Reunion

Author
Time

Oh to be a fly on the wall…

We, the people who actually created Star Wars, the ORIGINAL 1977 Star Wars, are celebrating the 40th anniversary of its release. So, if your name is on the credits of Star Wars Trilogy: Star Wars 1977, Empire 1980 or Jedi 1983 Trilogy…(or you worked uncredited) then you are invited. Otherwise, we love you (truly) but this is going to be an intimate gathering of the folks who worked on just the original trilogy. Only individuals and their significant others who have a credit (or worked on film uncredited) on either Star Wars, Empire, or Jedi are invited to attend. Please help us spread the word to people you know who worked on these films.

“We, the people who actually created Star Wars…”

Hey, i thought GEORGE LUCAS created Star Wars all by H-I-M-S-E-L-F … … just kidding.

What an awesome event. I wonder if Gary Kurtz and Marcia Lucas will attend that party? George won’t show up, that’s for sure.

That image needs more cardboard cutout Rebels by the way 😃

Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

Now that’s an event worthy of the anniversary!

Charles Lippincott was planning on going, but was told that a few of his friends who George hates are not welcome, and therefore he isn’t going if people who actually worked on the film are unwelcome.

Sounds like they are expecting George

Pathetic. I’ve seen ex husbands and wives who have literally tried to kill each other in the past, suck it up and come together for things like their children’s weddings. That George can’t even be at the same event with people because of some long held grudge, speaks to how little of a man he is.

George needs to check his ego at the door if that’s true. He could at least follow the philosophy of the very characters he created, and let go of his hate for one night.

This is a once in a lifetime event. It should be about celebrating the people who helped make Star Wars, all of them.

How many of these people will even still be around for the 50th?

If George is coming, I doubt it would be unaltered. I can imagine them playing an SE, and loudly voicing their disapproval at the many of the changes, all with George in the room with them to hear their hatred for his destruction of their work. Maybe then something would finally click in his head.

No one will actually do that. They let him get away with so much crap over the years. I bet Marcia Lucas has a gag order which is why we never hear from her and she disappeared into the ether.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Perhaps she just prefers a quiet life out of the spotlight?

Well, there was that story from years ago about George attending a 35mm screening and, according to the people sitting nearby, getting very uncomfortable upon realizing it was the unaltered version and not the SE.

Phil Tippett has been rather outspoken about his dislike for the alterations has he not?

I’d be curious to know John Dykstra and Richard Edlund’s thoughts on the matter as they were not involved with the SE and PT IIRC.

I doubt many would do that. I would assume that for most of them, it was just a job.

I can’t believe David Prowse wasn’t at the 40th Anniversary Panel at Star Wars Celebration. George doesn’t care about anything but his own interpretations of things. He has rewritten history in his mind and that is his reality. I feel sorry for him. I wish he could be more like Stan Lee and enjoying this great time instead of making things awkward with his delusions.

The 40th anniversary was a great opportunity to bury the hatchet and move on bringing David Prowse back into ‘the fold’ as it were, especially as Star Wars has lost a few of it’s actors of late. Instead no, as you say - George has his re-written history and doesn’t like to be challenged or reminded of his past mistakes.

Hopefully David Prowse will turn up to this reunion instead 😃

Prowse announced a year or so ago he was retiring from public appearances I believe due to health reasons.

Outside the UK, yes. Not locally.

I hope there is some sort of news coverage for this event. I’d love to hear what is said. Hopefully someone in attendance does an interview or writes an article. I wonder what Lucasfilm/Disney thinks about it.
