No hate, just things that bugged me the first time around I’ve realized actually are rather large problems that I can’t quite ignore on repeat viewings.

The things that bugged more were harder to overlook a second time

I liked Jyn and Cassian a little more (mostly Cassian, as I already thought Jyn was pretty good).

And with that said I still love the end scene. The terror on the Rebels faces is perfect.

Wife and I watched R1 last night and we agreed it was improved this time around. Basically because we knew what the hell was going on in the first act this time, and the characters grew on us. First time through I didn’t care much at all for the main characters (although I liked K2 and the Temple Guardians) but I thought they were more interesting this time.

I’m inclined to agree.

I will say one thing that bothered me more this time around is the Mustafar scene. Vader doesn’t seem right at all, he sounds weird and he walks weird, and I hate the pun.

Ditto. Something is terribly off about his wardrobe and his mannerisms. It looks so off.

“That said, there is nothing wrong with mocking prequel lovers and belittling their bad taste.” - Alderaan, 2017

I think part of it is the camera angles. They’re level with his face. We’re used to seeing low angles with Vader.

ASS

Being a bit harsh on asses there mate. Whilst they are quite stubborn at times they are also quite intelligent, friendly, quite playful, and keen to learn and display their skill sets.

Mala on the other hand has not demonstrated anything like those abilities with his repeated critique of someone else’s opinion of the Rogue One film. Though, to be fair, he did seemingly put his all into it - and am sure his teachers still have hopes for him to improve further when he reaches big school.

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Somebody said something positive about one of the disney star wars movies and Alderaan hadn’t chimed in yet to tell us that the movies were shit and that our opinions are shit and that the movies are just objectively bad and that liking them means we have shit taste. What was he supposed to do?

Glad I’m no longer alone here, at least.

And with that said I still love the end scene. The terror on the Rebels faces is perfect.

I still have to rewatch it, this might not be as bad as I remember.

That’s because it wasn’t Anakin in the suit. 😉

I disliked that first Vader scene the moment I saw it and haven’t changed my mind since. Doubt we’re the only ones.

I liked the reveal of Vader’s castle and that part where Vader’s servant goes to fetch him from the bacta tank. I think the actual Vader/Krennic scene was very weak, though.

Which is a bummer, because I really enjoyed Krennic and a scene between him and Vader should have been great.

I remember thinking he wasn’t filmed from the right angle and James Earl Jones’s voice is not what it used to be. God bless the man, he’s just really old now. Maybe even the stand-in wasn’t very good.

The worst part about that scene though was that it was so gratuitous and unnecessary for the story. It was just a bunch of marketing people mandating Vader HAS to be in the movie somewhere, so here we’ll create some scenes just so we can show him on screen.

I didn’t have a problem with Vader in the last scene though. I liked it when I first saw it, but after reflection, I don’t think it fits in with the original story. Maybe they could have dialed it back a little bit, or somehow thought up the scene a little differently.

I don’t mind the concept of putting Vader in the movie, but the scene really didn’t accomplish anything.

I’m with DE, at least the first few shots were cool.

I loved TFA, but RO didn’t do a whole lot for me. I enjoyed the ride, but it didn’t really resonate with me like the others. I think it’s because it’s more of a plot driven film whereas the others are character driven. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it and it was awell made movie it’s just not my style I guess. Krennic was good though. Really it was all good, it just didn’t click or pop with me the way the originals and TFA did.

I think Rogue One may be a better movie plot wise but there’s a certain level of emotional investment that makes enjoy TFA more. There are a ton of small problems with TFA that I can just overlook because I’m invested in Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren just like with the OT.

Pretty much this. I may do a very light small trims edit of TFA After I finish my return of the Jedi edit (owhich I am actually working on I just haven’t bothered to bunk the thread because I don’t have any significant news on it because before I started actual editing I spent a long time just getting all my sources together and to match. Using telecines version of the blu ray that has redone lightsabers and blaster shots with a very subtle base color adjustment done by me, but I’m also using a few shots from the hdtv cap of the 2004 to get rid of the changed door at jabbas palace, and to get rid of the dug in jabbas palace and restore the original effect of Han thawing out. Then I also used harmys de ed to get rid of the sarlaac beak and restore Sebastian Shaw, so I had to do some adjustments to make those shots match as well. They look great on their own bit I wanted a more modern look since this is an edit so I wanted it to match the blu ray footage. Then had to sync it to the 93 mix before I started editing. Wow, sorry that was so long and off topic)

Finally got to watch R1 on blu ray (and I finally got a Blu-ray player).

I still enjoyed it; it was a popcorn flick for me. Didn’t get as emotional over the cast’s deaths, but I still found it fun.

One question though: How did the droids get on the Tantive IV, if Raddus’s ship was already en route to Tatooine, and their cameo was when the fleet deployed to Scarif?

I was going to ask how Bodhi got to talk to the fleet through the shield but not the plans, but apparently I merely missed the exposition on how it worked.

Yeah, that still bugs me. Both unnecessary and lazy.
