Star Wars - The Edits and DVDr releases thread — Page 17

Several of the Quality Broth set's LaserDisc side changes are sloppily done.
For example at the end of Side 3, when Luke reads the trash-compacter's serial number
to Threepio, the last digit "seven" gets cut.
Earlier at the end of Side 1 after Owen's "There'll be hell to pay"
there's a bit of footage missing before Luke's "There's a droid on the scanner."
In ESB, as Luke enters the carbon-freeze chamber and Artoo gets locked out in the hallway,
there's a bit too much "dead air" between the LD sides, making the transition noticeable.

The LD side changes seem to match the '93 Definitive Collection (albeit, a later pressing with Leia welding).
The Quality Broth .NFO files don't say which LD version was used, only "THX".
Grisan, why do you say '95 Faces was the source ?

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

"there's a bit too much "dead air" between the LD sides, making the transition noticeable."

That's interesting, because any good NLE should make it easy to remove such transitions. I do it down to the frame in Vegas. I don't understand why people can't get that part right.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Thanks for your quick replies, everyone! This had been the one set that I had seen here and there, but never heard anything about. Now I know why!

Cheers!

I thought it was stated in the NFO, but you are right it probably was the DC version.

Okay - I've just added a new Edit to the collection and I have NO information about it at all...

SO is there anyone out here who has heard of this edit?

NEW –
Attack of the Clones - Re-Edit
Unknown Creator
- 1 DVDr - Fan Created Edit
- Source - DVD>Downloaded Xvid>DVD
- NO Menu

it has a opening title card (kinda like the MagnoliaFan one) but reads...

This film has been modified from it's original form. It has been edited to help alleviate pacing and dialogue issues within the film. The changes made were done soley based upon the subjective opinion of the editor. Lucasfilm LTD. does not endorse this version in any way. If you have paid for a copy of this film please contact the proper authorities.

- The Editor

I've been up all night watching it but I've only really seen Episode 2 once (and MagFans Edit also) so MAYBE twice counting the few times it's been on TV and it was on in the background. BUT I have no idea what was changed or how it was edited so any insight would be appreciated

I can also send off 2 copies in exchange for FULL REVIEWS and evaluation (these are XVID to DVD so they are not the best in video quality - be forwarned BUT it is better then my other VHS to DVD edits!) so the first TWO PM's I get today after I wake up will get copies - BUT you must be a member and have at least 50 posts and have been a member since 2004. OKAY?

Nite all - HAVE A GREAT DAY!

I have an edit with the same name. It's on VCD and have no opening title card like yours, so I'm note sure if it's the same re-edit.

is this the first version of the Edit Droid set that has been talked about?

can we expect to see this as a torrent in the future?

and what exactly is the difference between this and the currently torrented version? was it just the mono mix? or was there something else.

The mono mix, the downmixed original 6-track mix, and the original stereo mix rather than the 85 remix used on the current disc. The video quality, however, was not very good supposedly.

In the same way that the Wookie Groomer split screen releases are perfect for comparing the original theatrical releases to the 2004 releases, the original EditDroid ANH will be perfect for comparing the differences in the mono to stereo soundtracks.

Unfortunately, I have heard that the mono sound is very quiet and weak compared to the PAL mono wav file released by Moth3r.

You'll see a hierarchical list of information stored in the ifo file. Click on VMGM_MAT and a plus sign will appear next to it. Click the plus to expand and you'll see First Play PGC. Click on it, then scroll down in the bottom window until you see the Pre Command(s). You'll see a command saying "(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1." Right-click on that command and choose "Edit Command." Change the command to "(JumpSS_VTSM) Jump to Titleset Menu." Set the Title number to 1, Titleset number to 1, and Menu to "Root."

That should do it. Just save the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and try it out.

Re: The Holiday Special on dvdr

Anyone got any reviews or advice on which Holiday Special version has the best picture quality, or the best overall presentation and extras?

thanks in advance

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy.com | Introduce yourself in here | Useful info within : About : Help : Site Rules : Fan Project Rules : Announcements
How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com; some info & answers + FAQs - includes info on how to search for projects and threads on the OT•com

A Project Index for Star Wars Preservations (Harmy’s Despecialized & 4K77/80/83 etc) : A Project Index for Star Wars Fan Edits (adywan & Hal 9000 etc)

… and take your time to look around this site before posting - to get a feel for this place. Don’t just lazily make yet another thread asking for projects.

I agree! (but I may be a bit biased)

Actually, there's now quite a few versions that are excellent quality - good enough that I wouldn't have made one had they been available at the time. None are perfect, which is why we keep seeing new ones, I guess. But there a number of them to choose from now that should be completely satisfying.

BTW, those *.DVD files can be opened in DVD Maestro. I'm not sure how useful they are, but there ya go.

So, which edit of Ep1 is everyone's favorite?
I've seen a couple and had mixed feelings.

I'm now getting ready (as soon as I fix my ratio elsewhere) to grab ADigitalMan's Vergence of the Force and I was curious what everyone's opinion was on it.

Btw, off topic I know, but has anyone seen the fan edit: Matrix deZIONized? It has me intrigued, and I'll definitely be adding that to my watch list.

I am now well into a project that I started back on Jan 29th on this very thread to have a website logging all known versions of the OT and SE on DVDR.

This is not a "What's the best version" site but a simple guide for people to work out what version of the OT/SE they have and to let them know what other versions are available.

I have also added some of the best known Edits and Other DVD's available.

My intention now is to add more screenshots of existing versions, a bit of technical info and a guide to where a set is/was available from.

Can the good folks here have a look to see if there are any other sets out there that I have missed out so that they too can be added.

Go to Galactic Trade Federation to see what we have been up to.......

A big thanks to The Dark One (the site owner) for setting the thing up and everyone else who has helped me in putting this thing together.

Great site.

All that's needed now is to link your site with Grisan's so once you've got a copy of the OT you can easily match it up with suitable covers.
