So his native accent then?
Yes, using random behind the scenes footage.

Give Finn a British, casual, mostly off-topic voice throughout.
^ Nice! I think something other than what in the real world would be deeply disturbing nearby huge fireball explosions with something more distant and matching their casual conversational tone.
Really cool idea! Ideally something to get at the Resistance idea without giving away “For Skywalker” ahead of time.
Really nice work, as usual.
I think we should keep Rise of Skywalker’s bad decisions native to Rise of Skywalker, personally.
I’m inclined to agree, although I am okay with certain little exceptions.
All I’ll say is this… no one’s being hurt by having these lines run through the AI. Even if we don’t want a specific line to be put in this edit, it would still be nice for it to be done for others. So I’d appreciate it if it isn’t too much of a bother for “No one’s ever really gone” to be run through for those who want it. Like I said, doesn’t have to be in this edit, but let’s play nice here.
Right. Keep the options open.
Kylo Ren’s voice is just Adam Driver’s normal ‘Ben Solo’ voice with a filter, no? It’d take some effort to duplicate the filter but it’s certainly possible.
Right.
I don’t really feel the need to add anything to the scene, but it’d be good to get some quotes of “Rey,” “no,” and things like that to play with.
I’d be most interested in the dyad line. Maybe request the complete sentence as well as various pieces of it.
“What Palpatine doesn’t know if we’ve become a dyad in the Force. Two that are one.”
“We’ve become a dyad in the Force.”
“We’ve become a dyad.”
“We’ve become…”
“Become a dyad…”
Etc. Just to have slight variation of the AI delivery.
I was kind of hoping to see something like Dave Bowman in 2010, in order to involve Hayden while leaving room for Shaw.
And MR, I’ve never noticed anything but apparent perfection in the clips and I suspect you’re being far more critical than any viewer will be. That said, take all the time needed.
Gotcha. Thanks for letting me know, though.
Nah. With the saber, there was a distinct sound that it always had. In ROTS there were two times it had a distinctly different sound effect, and once in TLJ. I believe the DVD for ESB bafflingly changed one of them to be wrong, too.
To me that’s noticeable and at least somewhat meaningful, whereas the turrets were just expanded upon. I’m sure it would’ve been pretty limiting to only use 40 year old foley from ANH.
EDIT: And I’d say ProRes would be ideal, if that’s possible.
Yes! Isn’t that wonderful?
I haven’t gotten the final render but as far as I am aware it’s done, visually and sonically.
I don’t notice anything on the 1080p and TinyEncode. What version are you watching and can you describe further?
Yeah, we should only train a Ben Solo AI on “ow.”
If my life were the way it was six years ago, I’d totally devote a whole week to attempting to get something like this to work, but alas. For our purposes for this specific project, though, we’d only really want to coax a few things out of it.
Now, for FUN, there’d be no end to what could be done. Deepfake ROTJ Jabba onto ANH? Why the hell not? Redub Ben Kenobi with Ewan McGregor? You bet. Swap all possible combinations of Anakin/Vader across the films? Leave no stone unturned!
I have a sneaking suspicion the old woman from the end of TROS will make an appearance in this…
“Who are you?”
“I’m Kenobi.”
“What is your first name?”
lost in thought
“Ben Kenobi.”
I could imagine that AI maybe helping get a syllable or word here and there to smooth things over. Our ‘become a dyad’ line or ‘birth of her son.’
Lawdog said that he had, so I guess we’ll see if we do get a bite.
PM sent
I think he means he’s just asked him so far.
Public urination!
I still like the two-shot option that Hal posted with the TIE fighters circling around the castle and across the forest. The Biome shot is set for Rogue One, even if it is color corrected to match the look of The Rise of Skywalker. I’d say stick with the two shot option over the Biome shot.
Which two shots do you mean?
At this point the idea is to use the modified Biomes shot and the TIEs sweeping over the trees. The biomes shot will as long as the volcano and older castle shot combined.
Needless to say it’s quite beyond my capacity.
FTFY
Is there a grain effect? There is in FCP7. I imagine that’d look better than video noise.
Yeah, I guess so!
I gave it the soft light setting and decreased the opacity until it looked right. I’d suggest exporting a master clip to gauge its appearance as the in-application viewer may not be a true representation of how visible it’ll be.
It’s was a overlay set to “soft light” setting. I don’t remember who sent it to me or where it came from, as that was about seven years ago!
Some great ideas! I’d be cautious of aping movie posters, as I can imagine gently rolling my eyes if I’d seen it in the theatrical.
Makes me think of something. One thing that did cause me to gently roll my eyes but not quite make a quip to my brother in the theater was the trooper in the distance on Kijimi saying something like “the door is locked, move onto the next one.”
I mean… mumble, grumble.
Hmm… Axlanian, any thoughts about augmenting that trooper line too? How about a sly allusion to the ‘77 mono mix with,”It’s secure, move onto the next one.” Or “It’s secure, next residence.”
