Mike, why are you creating a detailed website about your restoration if (as you claim) it's just for your own personal use? I'm not asking you to share your set, but why you are proudly showing it off on your website when it's just for you?
But now that I've seen the AdigitalMan ROTJ edit, I can't wait for more De-SEized fan made sets. Otherwise, I doubt very much I could go back to LD transfers.
De-SEized sets are my only hope. Good luck, AdigitalMan, and whoever watns to attempt it!
Originally, that's the way it was. Jabba was only in ROTJ.
Then they added a God-awful CGI skeleton CRAPTHING of him in ANH, much to our dismay. But ideally, he isn't in ANH, since this is merely the Special Edition.
Then he makes a brief cameo in TPM. But in the famed BOTF re-edit of it, Jabba is edited out simply b/c there's no real reason for him to be there and it works much better to just have him appear in ROTJ IMHO. That's why I think it'd be a much wiser choice to cut the ANH Jabba scene out entirely, to keep with the general O-OT enthusiast concensus.
But a seamless-branching thing works too. I'm interested in what his alternate subitltes will be as well.
Oh and BTW, being a Star Wars buff named Kirk is odd. lol That's probably why everyone that hears I like Star Wars, they confuse it with Star TREK. So I then have to correct them, and make myself look even MORE geeky.
hehe. But I'm really NOT a geek tho.
I mean, look at this! http://www.xanga.com/kirkshelton
Anyway, I'm liking the idea of a seamless branching for Jabba. Just when you look at it the from saga perspective (or even Trilogy perspective) it makes much more sense to omit him. He was removed from TPM, and I don't think a SE addition of him to ANH would be a good idea.
JUSt a thought. Good luck, it promises to be great.
My BOTF disc apparently is OK, but thanks for the warning.
I am very pleased with the ADigitalMan ROTJ edit. It wasn't an O-OT restoration, but rather, a watchable SE.
I don't think any LD footage was plugged back in, save the Shaw ghost. The only thing I would've done differently (two things actually) would be to include the Ewok music as it pans back down to Endor. The galactic celebrations can stay, minus the Wesa Free line. I would have included the original Lapti Nek in it's entirety, pugging in O-OT footage.
But I do like this take on it very much. I look forward to ANH and ESB.
My ONLY request is to PLEASE omit Jabba from appearing in ANH. Especially when you consider BOTF and the MagnoliaFan edits, this would greatly reduce inconsistency. The idea is to keep Jabba as a ROTJ-only character.
The 'known error' with ESB is the four second pause between the "I think we better replace the negative power coupling" scene and the Liea "weilding" scene. No biggie really, IMO.
Incidentally, can SOMEBODY please help me??? I just plain cannot figure out how to make my external DVD burner burn. It's a Toshiba exernal drive, and it burned fine when I try to copy an already existing physical disc I have. But it always runs into a problem with burning a DVD from file. It says it burned sucessfully, but neither one of my DVD players nor my PC will read it! Then the dialog box I played it with said an unspecified error crept up. Every time.
Can somebody either recommend a good software to use (PM me serial numbers if necessary) or just tell me what I'm doing wrong??
Thanks very much in advance... I'm sure it's a painfully obvious answer that I'll feel stupid for overlooking.
My AdigitalMan ROTJ DVd download isn't *done* but it's close enough for my comptuer to play certain parts of the movie.
I love how he handled the Jabba musical number. He used the Cd version of Lapti Nek! Very well executed, I love the idea.
He has, by all acounts, edited the official DVD to create what I'd like to call a watchable SE. It's not an O-OT restoration, but the SE is now watchable IMHO.
And could we get some more seeders on this thing? My download stopped at 89%. Thanks.
I just bought a DVD burner, and am having trouble with it.
I tried copying an already existing physical DVD that I had, and it worked perfectly.
But whenever I try to burn a DVD I've download from torrents, the DVDr will not play in any sort of DVD player. It says it burned it successfully, but the DVD is shot. Nothing will read the disc.
"Bitching and complaining" is the last thing I'd use to describe these boards.
That's far from the truth. Take a gander into the "OT Preservation" thread. Since LFL won't help us, we're taking upon ourselves to preserve the O-OT as best we can. Lot's of people are putting in a LOT of hard work, as well as money. Even those who don't have groundbreaking DVD technology have done other things such as distributing these discs to those who want them, and even designing many DVD covers for these rips. I, myself have made quite a few DVD covers and I am only equipped with Microsoft Paint.
Granted, there a few unconstructive citizens of OT.com that just troll around posting negatory remarks. (such as yourself, perhaps)
You can think of us how you wish, but don't let it be because we're "whiners".
