Can't really insert deleted scenes since they're so grainy... but maybe something to the effect of joining them into one movie? But that'd look like crap on a single layer disc.
Ah, forget it. Can't really do anything to improve on the source material.
I am just about finished with editing and compiling the video for my ROTJ fan edit... but I am baffled by how to get the subtitles back, or create new ones.
Obviously, the altered running time of alternating between LD and DVD footage has messed up the original subtitle stream. So does anyone know a relatively painless way to create a new subtitle track for Star Wars?
Let us not forget that the original version of TPM is already on DVD.
In my eyes, that makes a 100% difference. The original Trilogy is not. That's what we're here for on this website! I don't care if he adds Gonzo to the Jedi Council in TPM, I have the original DVD already.
I will be sending a copy of Darth Editous's version to the following three people in the near future after I burn them and take care of a few other things that need to get done first:
Infodroid Starpc agr1170
Sorry for the other two who PMed me after. The reason I picked the number three is b/c that's how many special envelopes I have left over. But you can contact these three, and I'm sure they will be gracious enough to mail you a copy too.
Thank you, Darth Editous, not just for making the DVD etself, but for the great quality of shipping. I wasn't expecting first class shipping in a padded envelope in a full DVD case! That was really nice.
And anyone in the US who wants a copy of the NTSC version, PM me. EDIT: First three, anyway. I need the other two padded envelopes in the package I just bought.
How do I hard code alien subtitles into the video like you did? I'm working on my own edit of the six films, and this sounds like a better idea than creating a subtitle stream.
I am using Womble mpeg-vcr to edit the video, if this helps. (And how, or with what program, do I create scene transitions and wipes that look like a professional editing job, instead of what Womble offers?)
I really like the lightsaber ignitions and retractions. I like how they weren't toyed with except to smooth them out and make them visibly extend and retract.
I have to download the whole thing for a De-SE project I'm working on. All I need is the original Jabba song in anamorphic video and 5.1 sound, so it's compatible with the official DVD.
Can anybody here send me the video clip from Dr. Gonzo of the original Jabba dance number? I have Gmail, so I can hold a gigabyte of space. That'd be much appreciated. PM me if you are able to do it.
To anyone who has seen it, what does the end battle look like? Is the whole sequence LD footage, or just parts that were changed?
This sounds like the ANH De-SE to end all ANH De-SEs....
In my mind, none of Lucasfilm's "official" DVD release of the 6 films will do for my "final" versions. I plan eventually on cannabilizing a bunch of different phantom edits and my official copy to make my ideal TPM. Same with AOTC. As for the OT, I'm waiting for a good De-SE that I can mess with just a little bit to get exactly how I like it. But this edit might just be final! lol
Lord knows that when it's all said and done, Lucasfilm will have pulled close to a hundred dollars out of my pocket for ROTS.
I have no guilt in downloading a bootleg for reference, no guilt at all. Not all illegal things are wrong. The dark side I sense in the officials who are suing for their own selfish gain. "Only a Sith deals in absolutes."
