What to do with the SE discs from the OT DVD sets...
Time
After I buy the OT/SE DVD set in September, I plan an editing my own hybrid version, to try to get (what is, IMHO) the best of both worlds.

After all three are done, I plan on chucking the SE DVDs far, far away and placing my own hybrid versions in the cases in their place. It'll be the OT, and my version.

Come to think of it, I'll put them where they belong, along with the other discs I recieve but don't want: In my stack of AOL CDs that come in the mail.

The Official 2006 Discs Will Be No Better Than What We Have!
Time
A lot of early DVDs I own are nothing more than LD versions transferred onto a single layer disc.

However, I don't expect the same treatment from Lucasflim on this release. Lucasfilm and THX have an excellent track record with presentation of picture and sound. This will be vastly different than a mere laserdisc port... They are going back to the original master for the last version of the OT (which is surely the best possible source that exists anymore) and "exhaustively" cleaning it up and restoring it to a DVD standard.
At least they aren't just re-editing pre-SE scenes into the already existing cleaned up print, for two reasons: There's no chance of them leaving any SE elements in. And we won't have the over-saturated, overly-colored prints that were on the 2004 DVDs.
I'm trying to be as optomistic as the information that's been released so far will allow me, but I'm putting my faith back into Lucas for this release.

*Sniff* I'm sorry, Lucas... I didn't mean what I said...

Info: A CALL TO ARMS FOR THE X0 PROJECT! (was: A SPARK OF HOPE...)
Time
I'm sure even the official OOT DVDs will have plenty of room for (fan) improvment.

I, for one, plan on making my own evil hybrid versions with what I consider the best of both worlds. Or, if the picture and sound are subpar, will attempt to use them to De-SE the 2004 DVDs. The source material should be good enough, no matter what they use to master it.

It's really too early to plan anything, so this is just a brainstorm.

Any truth to this? Lucas is releasing the three unaltered ORIGINAL Star Wars films?
Time
Please don't be false hope this time.

If so, and the original prints aren't as great looking, it shouldn't be too hard to edit them to get the best of both words (picture quality, and 100% original versions).
I probably would edit them anyway to have my own sick, twisted fan-hybrid version anyway if this were true. But honestly I'd never watch it if the original versions were on DVD!!

Info Wanted: Recreating Original 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm Logos
Time
I actually have the alien clip, Trooperman. PM me with your email and I'll send it to you ASAP.

Bur truthfully, I didn't find the video quality of the opening logos from the Cowclops V.2 disc, so I'll probably just use that.
But I only have the first one. Could anyone with the Cowclops V.2 send me the video clip of the opening logos for ROTJ? I would appreciate it, and thanks in advance.
If anyone needs anything else, please ask.

EDIT: Oops, I see he beat me to it. If it helps, I have the NTSC version.
