Star Wars Episode II: The Approaching Storm (Released)
Time

V6 exists now, and the HD versions are on their way up to the Google Drive, with torrents to follow. The SD versions are still encoding. I’ve updated the OP with a current changelog, with asterisks denoting V6 changes. I’m very pleased with the final product, and I’d have very few qualms about hypothetically showing it theatrically. In other words, it comes pretty darn close to passing that sort of test in my mind.

Once I’ve gotten everything out the door for TAS V6, I will have to wait on a few things from others for Episodes 3 and 4, and nearly all my source material for Episode 6. So I may jump over to Episode 8 for a while, though would hold off finishing it until after Episode 9 comes out.

And don’t feel the need to make it perfect; I’ll likely try my hand at the audio editing when I get around to it anyway. Just test it enough to satisfy yourself that it’s possible to be done well, I guess.
In case, though… I like to cut off the coin gag a half-beat after the first coin gets inserted, before the alien reacts with anger. Cutting away after about the same duration as the final coin insertion in the original ending.

Thanks for posting that, and I like it overall.
I’d probably leave in Rose’s line onboard the shuttle about the populace being the worse people imaginable.
And I’d leave in a shortened version of the little alien placing a coin into BB8, otherwise it seems like Finn and Rose take 4 seconds to give up looking.
I wonder if Rose’s two lines about fathiers can be removed, but I suspect not.

I think I agree with that overall. I have a version of how the scene could go in my head, but it will probably be a little while before I am able to realize it in a mockup.
Bonus points for removing Rose getting excited about seeing the Fathiers. I imagine it would be more effective to merely see them react to the poor mistreatment of what are essentially space horses Van to set up a miniature Free Willy subplot for them.

The ‘Custom Special Edition’ That Almost Wasn’t, But Then Was (Released)
Time

I realize my sensibilities about these things for the Custom SE version are weird, but that’s the sort of thing that doesn’t bother me; just a byproduct of making a movie like this. If it wasn’t damage caused from a SE change not being thought out, it just doesn’t seem to get to me.
However, I know I already broke the seal on that as a criteria. So, let me take a look and listen and see what I think. I thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you. The saber duel was one instance of shot-by-shot correction (or creative LUT mixing and application), since what was good for the red saber was bad for the blue. Took a while to do and to refine.

The reason I included the continuity fix for the Cloud City window was because the error was introduced by a Special Edition change. So, while I don’t know which Piett change you’re talking about, I’m not really concerned unless it’s a problem the SE(s) introduces.

Oh, yeah, that’s right… I just modified what I’d done differently and didn’t consider in depth the 2011 source versus Adywan’s 1997 recreation.

The Wampa scene is sourced mostly from Adywan’s Revisited edit, with a few Despecialized shots. I had to do that in order to maximize quality, but reverted some of his new Wampa shots to the OOT.

But thank you; I’m glad you like the final product.

To be fair, poppasketti states that it was a temporary clip to test out how they might look in motion, and wouldn’t reflect a final result.

Personally I’d be all right with a second bandolier (which is still different from how it looks in Solo) and greyed (or otherwise recolored) fur. Maybe he’s… Crunchbrakka or something. Goes by Crunchy.

JEDIT: Of course, his military rank would be Captain.

I didn’t see anything wrong with the second bandolier. I’d happily take that and a fur recolor, be it gray or reddish or whatever works. To me what makes him look like Chewie is the “costume” (of the character), and not his face. So if his name isn’t mentioned, he doesn’t particularly resemble Chewie in any other movie, and he’s dressed differently, I think it’s a safe bet to the audience not to infer that its him. And if you go on to see the other movies, there’s no reason for it to be him anyway.
I do thank you for trying a hand in this and I like it.

This is one change that I don’t mind a less than perfect implementation for. Have you SEEN some of the special effects in this movie? 😛

ESB V2 is on its way up, in the usual places. Again, this is a remastering of the video stream, primarily. I used LUTs provided by DrDre (and two provided by Sir Ridley) to somewhat creatively correct the BluRay on a scene-by-scene (and sometimes shot-by-shot) basis. The only new change to the content itself is to modify Ben’s line to “[a] Jedi Master who instructed me,” and there is another audio track without this change.

I think that scene would read as rather short, though something to that effect would have been more underplayed and superior to what we got in the actual movie.
However, I still prefer to leave Anakin‘s struggle mostly in subtext, except for his statement during the funeral about not wanting to fail to save somebody again.

Yeah, I’m planning to try a serious attempt at mocking up that scene. Hopefully it’ll be better with the “wow look at how bad this place really is” scene but not with the fathier sequence. To me it would say that that city represents the galaxy at large, and while they can’t really directly intervene there and then, thy can through fighting the good fight, and can even inspire the local residents to do something themselves.

Here’s something small that can be done to help the edit feel like more like a feature film.

You shifted the Anakin’s “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” to before the beasts come out of their cells. It might be best to add some of the music and ambiance that plays when the beasts come out in the background for that shot.

Also, since you removed C-3PO and R2-D2 from the arena fight, it would be wise to add some Republic Gunship sounds in the background for the shot of Boba Fett holding his father’s head.

The reason I’m suggesting to add in these instances of background audio is because the transition for those two shots felt a bit abrupt in both the volume and atmosphere.

Indeed, another pass improved these two moments greatly. 😃

Out of curiosity will this version on ESB have the cropped Falcon shot or the un cropped? I remember you inquiring about that a while back and noticed the cropped shot were used.

It would be more trouble than it’s worth in my estimation, and would force me to use 720p Harmy footage for large chunks of the movie.

Yes the fact he got money to finish a work he wasn’t 100% into lately is questionable.

I think it’s irrelevant how into it he was. The point is he is hyping up a big monetary gain from what he’s doing, and pretty transparently using pirated sources. These are things that endanger us all.

Were this not the case, it’d be hard for any of us to feel strongly about what he’s doing. But because he is, I think that’s why we are holding him to tight standards.

I don’t think so because it’s completely political exposition without ‘angry Anakin,’ and ‘angry Anakin’ is opposed to the goal. I don’t hate the scene but it doesn’t do our love story any favors.
I appreciate the vetting, but it’s not something I’ve hemmed and hawed about like some other things.
The worst part of losing it is seeing Padme change clothes between two instances of seeing her walking, but it’s hopefully clear she is staying elsewhere and only visiting her family. (Or else Anakin apparently just ditched her bags at some point.)
