That’s awesome! PM sent.
I’d bet anybody anything that the music that will transition into the end credits is the ‘Binary Sunset/Force Theme.’
Just putting out another call for anyone to help me try to find a replacement 3PO line for “I think I’m beginning to get the hang of this flying business.”
If you own the radio dramas for the OT, consider scrubbing trough some of it as I’ve done to no avail yet. I appreciate it; replacing it will cement the gently implied 3PO backstory into legitimacy.
And there’ll be an alternate audio track for ESB, for the four or five affected frames.
Exporting a new audio track to sit alongside the other. This track is the same, but includes:
Create fake ‘mono mixes’ for the other movies by changing arbitrary things and releasing in low quality.
Well, I don’t think this is half bad. I added the first syllable and a half of “A Jedi can feel the whisky flowing through him” from ANH.

Hmm… shifting the bass affects the rest of the sounds occurring at the same time, and won’t work for me. While I appreciate the logic and consistency of using the 2011 track for all of Vader’s dialogue, I think I’ll pass on that one.
Can anyone with access to the mono mix (including via Harmy’s DeEd), please send me the clip where Luke asks, “Blast it, Wedge, where are you?” I’m pretty maxed out on hard drive space right now and don’t want to download the 20GB file just to rip that small chunk from it. Much appreciated, if so.
Also, I just recreated the mono mix’s slight ‘sneak preview’ of the Cantina band music as the heroes approach the entrance. Gave it a low pass filter and matched the noticeability of the (clip on YouTube I pulled up of) the mono mix.
Someone around here suggested applying a bass boost has a similar effect, and that’ll probably be worth playing with rather than hopping around sources for much of the movie. I still don’t trust the 2004+ mixes.
Yeah, that’d be a good idea. 😃
I think that’s the only tweak of the sort that I would like to apply to ESB, but for ANH I think I’ll do an alternate track with the following:
I like the sound of that. 😃
Have you got any leads or tips for me about it, since you’ve delved there before? I was only able to get ANH’s line to work after seeing what you’d done.
Oh my goodness… I’ve gotta get this done and put behind me!
I think I got the line to sound a little bit better even. I threw in a tiny bit of the “I” leading into “I have something here for you.” But I crossfaded it with the end of “your father” which evidently sounds a fair bit like Ben is saying “I” in the first place.

Hoping that “A Jedi Master…” turns out okay, too. It at least won’t be as easy as clipping the beginning of the word “the.”
If I do make such changes, it would be in an alternate audio track.
That implication in ROTS is already present the way things are, and removing the slaughter would only leave the audience scratching their heads when Palpatine references it with no details.
I don’t see any merit to keeping the garage scene without the confession, and while I don’t mind disagreement, it’s a firm resolution for me.
Does anyone else seem to recall Adywan once doing a mockup (long ago) of changing the line to “A Jedi Master who instructed me”? I can’t seem to find it anywhere, and was hoping it would steer me down an already-established path to doing it.
I believe that could’ve been mine. Somehow I just cut out “Your father” and that alone somehow made it sound like “I wanted you to have this-“.

I like that a great deal! Did you have to adjust sync of the shot to do that? It doesn’t appear so. Could you perhaps send me audio?
Re: “your mother” - I tried to sort of tackle this in LOE.
Eh, it’s probably better not to alter the OT in that sort of way. I’ve got ESB fully ready to go, and I hope to begin distributing tomorrow. The picture looks better than I’ve seen Empire before, thanks to DrDre and Sir Ridley. I didn’t have a complete set of LUTs, and creatively mixed and matched them much of the time on a scene-by-scene (and occasionally shot-by-shot) basis, but I’m happy with the colors throughout. There are zero changes to the content, as this is merely remastering with a superior primary video source.
I seem to recall seeing a mockup at some point of the altered line in Ben’s hut that sounded perfect. Does anyone here know whose this was or where it can be found? None of the “I”s I’ve had time to try so far fit in very well.
To me, the movie only allows the reasonable inference that Ben is lying after the dramatic pause when Luke asks about how his father died. Before that point, the clear implication is that he’s telling him the truth which Owen has obscured.
Hopefully Ben’s line can be changed without affecting video sync, meaning that I can have audio tracks with both.
And of course the other can be changed to “the Jedi Master who instructed the Jedi Master who instructed the Jedi Master who instructed me.” 😛
Changing Obi-Wan’s line to “[I] wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn’t allow it.”
“…[a] Jedi Master who instructed me.”
Actually, I wonder how you all would feel about implementing these two specific alterations. Blasphemous? Acceptable within the frame of a ‘Special Edition’ for saga continuity? Irreconcilably opposed to me having bent over backwards to conform Ep3 to a few lines of dialogue from ROTJ? Okay to do only if relegated to a non-default audio track?
Spectacular! Thanks for sharing a preview.
