The laugh came from the same source as the line.

Fair. However, it is the only thing we hear of him in that particular environment.
Used subtlety, I bet that’d be a very nice enhancement.
No, that shot originally transitioned into R2 in the hangar. And the shot of the Jedi emerging from the elevator followed after the Super Battle Droids being fried.
If anything, you’re hearing a slight squeak or sound of R2 shuffling along.
lol
“Sometimes there’s crap no one can fix.”
Ok, here’s the next pass, with phasma now appearing in the first shot as well. I think (hope!) this gives it a moment to sink in and maintains continuity while remaining subtle.

Looks real good.
That’s a nice trick about copying to one’s own Google Drive. I added that to the FAQ file listed at the top of the ‘Hal 9000 SW edits’ directory.
Also, please refer to that FAQ file for a tip on another place to find these if the Google Drive is currently stalled out.
As obsessive as I can get about certain things, the reality is that I can’t be steward of this metaproject forever, and so with V6 I fully intend to set the prequels down and just let whoever wishes to take up the craft going forward cull whatever they wish from them. They’ll be my ultimates, of course, but there’ll never be an end of the line.
Even if IX ends up requiring me to go back again, say if the plot crucially involves midichlorians or something, I’d probably just reckon those as V6.1.
Well, that certainly means a lot coming from you.
While the changes to V6 of the prequels have not been unanimously well received, I think it was worthwhile to give them another go. I’m really happy with the end result. Was it worth all that it ended up figuratively costing me? Probably not, but at least I accomplished a goal. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to halfway enjoy sitting down and watching 1 through 9 of the complete Hal9000 presentation of the saga when it’s finished. Anyone can join me. I’ll bring chee-toes.
But why would Vader head a criminal organization?
Well, a brief brownout just ruined about 24 hours’ worth of encoding. Might be a little while before the last two versions are deployed.
Oops, just updated the OP to list V6 changes.
Sir Ridley and Snooker deserve to be praised for the robot!
And yes, I understand a bit of what must go through Lucas’ head. Movies get maid over the course of a few years, and then that’s it.
The 1080p and DVD5 versions are now available in the usual places, with the 720p and TinyEncode versions to follow in a few days. I’ll work on getting the ‘alternate ending’ version out after that’s done.
sorry for being behind on this, but is in the ‘alternate ending’ version?
I’m caving into years of requests for a version in which Padme still dies. It’ll be identical to LOE up until the medical droid comes out. From there it’ll be the theatrical release, save for removing the line about ‘losing the will to live.’

Perhaps, but I don’t see a strong need for this, anyway.
Maybe I’m mistaken, but if indeed the position from LFL is that everything is equally weighted canon, I poke that in the eye as an impossible standard. Of course, I’ve got a sensitive spot personally for airtight systems of belief with no wiggle room.
^ Not sure what you mean, Dom. If there are exceptions, the neo-fundamentalist-SW-orthodoxy seems to have failed out the gate.
And it’d be reeeeal weird to have a ~17 year old Ben Solo address Rey as ‘sweetheart.’
Surely that was intended to her mother or father, right?
For all the ‘everything is canon now’ hype, it still seems that TLJ really massaged and ignores some of the details from the TFA novelization.
I don’t mind that it does, but they just shouldn’t insist it was going to be otherwise.
I like the cut from “Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?” to “Not yet.” It ties into Windu being made to appear to Anakin as truly about to execute him in the next scene, rather than arresting him.
It’s a nice line, and has plenty of meme magic behind it, but this edit is from an alternate universe, after all. Midichlorian jokes you see in things don’t compute with my edits either, y’know.
I’m not sure. I don’t want to sacrifice even more of my 1 TB of Google Drive space that I use for all of my personal stuff also, and any versions other than the 1080p somebody could create for themselves anyway. And if I’m going to include those two versions, and additional 6 GB or so for the other two isn’t a big deal. I’ll probably include the whole shebang.
I’m doing a V3 for TLJ, and I’m just going to hold off on finalizing it until after seeing IX just in case. But I won’t revisit TFA unless IX gives me a reason to.
Yes, indeed. I’m glad it was pointed out to me, because it’s much better.
I never really got into TCW (or Rebels), but maybe I’ll give it another chance in a few years when my boys will be old enough to watch. I heard someone who showed their kids ANH then TCW, and they came to hate Vader as the man who would eventually murder Anakin.
Like an episode or a series? There used to be a podcast (The Gary Buseytown Massacre) that reviewed fan edits.
I agree with you about what about the scene raised slight suspicions. But, hopefully IX will be the last SW movie I’ll feel a little nervous for.
Ill just take a fresh look at it at some point and see about it then. It’s not too much all on its own, though gets to be a little cartoony. But at least with BB8, as opposed to R2 in ROTS, the cartoony physics don’t violate a well-established existing character. It’s no R2 popping out of a fighter or catching a walkie-talkie. (Still would love to see a recreation of that moment in which the comlink just bounces off R2’s dome with an ugly clank, leaving a slight dent, and thuds onto the ground. Just like what would really happen if you tossed a handheld phone receiver across the room at a physical R2 model.)
