made public for other fan editors to use.
Always a good phrase to hear.
Looking forward to making a movie night outta this and then beginning to think about what I’d like to do with Kenobi myself.
Why would you want to make it 60fps?
Would anyone with access to the German language dub of TROS send me a PM? Need two snippets from it.
Replace the opening STAR WARS logo that recedes into the background with the entire markdown syntax message.
Nah, I know where there’s a corresponding line in TFA that I can look at the subtitles for, where Han says the same thing in similar context.
Probably… would have been easier to include it on the list, but I could have done fine with that line if I wasn’t asking for translations.
I still have not yet had the chance to mock up that line to see how it plays, but plan to. Been hectic around here and my nights have not afforded me computer time. 😕
One thing that’s always bothered me a bit in the current release of Cloak of Deception is the music transition between the flag parade and the scene of Shmi telling Anakin to “be safe”. The track just kind of ends abruptly in the middle. The Phantom Editor addressed this by letting more of the track play out at a quieter volume over the next scene. Is this something you could take a look at for the final release?
Certainly could look into it, thank you!
That’s the plan, yes.
Thanks and I’m glad you like them. Anything related to these ideas has been hashed out and tossed over for like a decade at this point and I don’t plan to revise Ep3 any further. I decided not to try to influence the ideal viewing order, as it would be a large, overarching idea to try to realize.
Since COD will eventually get an update in the form of TMWNN’s VFX and color work, and we have the 3PO AI voice that Jar Jar Bricks has produced for TROS: Ascendant, I’m drawing up lines to generate for him. Here’s what I’ve got so far.
“Master Anakin rescued me after I was abandoned.”
“Space flight is rather perilous.” (With a tone consistent with responding in agreement to something he just heard from R2)
“I didn’t even survive my last assignment aboard a starship.”
“Master Anakin, you have saved me from the scrap pile and I am grateful. However, I fear your work remains… incomplete.”
——
Note that in the prequel trilogy, there are three lines, one per film, that form a little arch for 3PO. (And he is a slightly different character than the world-weary 3PO we get in the OT.)
“I can assure you they will never get me onto one of those dreadful starships.”
“I’m not worried, R2, it’s just that I’ve never flown before.”
“I think I’m beginning to get the hang of this flying business.”
I do not plan to revise LOE further, so bonus points if the lines generated for COD can set the stage for the last of these. (Ep2’s line was already replaced.)
I think someone needs to change their socks.
PM’d a German speaker, and the only other language I need is French. Anyone know who speaks French around here? MalaStrana seems to have gotten banned from the only other place I know to look for him.
EDIT: Thanks to nevertellmetheodds for sending me both via PM. I now have all the translations needed.
I used the FCP7 color correction wheel (3-wheel) to dial it away from green, doing so more for the midrange than the blacks and even moreso for the highlights. This was a blunt adjustment with no nuance other than my eyeballs and keeping it proportioned. (Say it was -9 for the highlights, that would mean it would probably have been -6 for the midrange and -3 for the blacks.)
Every shot and scene in which D-O appears or whenever he is nearby, he continually recites binary.
Thanks for those so far!
Luckily V3 does not do a whole lot to adjust the overall sync of things, and when it does it is close together, so this should not be too bad.
Well, as usual, I imagine that I’ll exceed the pessimistic timeframe I implied earlier.
Here is everything that I need translated by native speakers. Need French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, and Dutch.
“You lightspeed rammed?”
“You can’t lightspeed ram the Falcon!”
“His followers have been hiding something for years.”
“An enormous stockpile of Star Destroyers from the Old Empire.”
“Each ship has been modified with dreadnaught-tier laser cannons.”
“He’s too dangerous.”
“A Jedi needs her weapon.”
“They paid for your protection.”
“In more than one way.”
“What tedious work.”
“What we really need is a mechanic, ideally an R2 unit.”
“I am going with Mistress Rey on a very important mission.”
Fascinating. Who would have thought that a film print would be such a uniquely valuable thing for AOTC?
I don’t recall getting any, anyway.
And yeah, it’s the same take used at the start when Leia calls, “Rey, be patient” and when she says “Rey, never be afraid of who you are.”
Hard to imagine a good place to put it though. As the heroes leave, Lando keeps talking and the audio trails off as he says something about his lost daughter?
Perfect at the script level, but the AI voice is the trouble, for Luke as he delivers lines in this scene.
Replace D-O’s lines so that he exclusively speaks in names of emotions.
“Sadness.”
“Happiness.”
“Vexation.”
“Dread.”
Slight update. I just don’t feel that Luke’s “final lesson” line feels right when put into context, only because it doesn’t match his tone and cadence in the scene. I love the line itself, but it just doesn’t seem like it’ll work seamlessly.
Also, and I think I am retracing my steps on this one, Poe’s line “Someone’s coming” doesn’t work well only because the center channel has the sounds of the approaching horses along with his line “heads up.” When I kill his original line it drops out these sounds.
I can’t believe I forgot to try Leia’s line “come home” so that remains on my list to look at.
BUT, I did start syncing the English subtitles, taking notes about each adjustment so that I can manually apply all of it to each of the seven subtitle tracks. There’s… gonna be several nights of this, and a while yet before V3 actually gets released. Tedious work.
That was already done in V2. It’s sort of a midpoint between the original and Starlight, so that it fits in reasonably well with whichever version of TFA one saw.
PM sent
Sounds like him, not an inspired delivery and the test will be how it sounds baked in. It’s on my list of things to do next time I’m in there. Thanks so much.
