Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Redux Ideas thread
Time

I guess they needed her parents to be sympathetic in order to fuel a revenge angle for Rey. But, you’d think the Emperor would be enough of a target that it might work without that.

And just to make sure, because this movie went by too fast… is the chronology supposed to be that her parents went to Jakku and sold her to Unkar Plutt, then left in that ship we saw in TFA, then encountered the hunter, got killed, and then the hunter used their ship to go die on Pasana?

Totally agree. Any moments of silence that can be contrived would be good for this movie.

I also don’t see a real reason to remove the destroyers rising from the ice.

Maybe one of us could record something to add to the FO boardroom meeting to suggest what Palpatine wants in return is manpower for his fleet. I really like the idea; it makes it feel like his plan did have a valid place for the First Order. Perhaps the fleet is a remnant of Imperial power. Because if it was built by Sith people why does it look like that?

The one that originally featured the line “never underestimate a droid”?

Yes, if you mix the tale end of that scene with “Leia and The Resistance,” you could essentially make a scene where in TFA they intercept a transmission or something, and then Leia sends Kor Sella off to speak to the Republic, to get help.

That’s pretty direct pretty early on in TFA to bring this up so explicitly. Unless you mean to add it to TROS, sort of plugging in the new version of that line into the original scene.

Stein, thanks for the list of ideas.

Some I like and agree with, some I’d have to see the movie again to assess, and others might still be worth experimenting with.

The dagger aligning with the wreckage goes along with Rey veering off to go get it and with 3PO specifying a precise approach vector. So it might have to stay as part of the Gordian knot.

I’d have to look again, but I’m not sure how one would remove Rey deflecting the emperor’s lightning at the end and have it make any sense.

I think implying or stating that the Sith fleet needs the Human Resources of the First Order would be awesome. Can it be done, I wonder?

I’m sure it could be, but I’m probably not going to go with it. (I will certainly play with the idea.)

I think I’ll try to add this to the Takodana vision: “Find me… It is unavoidable. It is your destiny.”

Or I might leave off the “Find me,” because he probably doesn’t know she’s been awakened or whatever yet. Seems like Snoke would have to learn this first, I’m not sure. But, that doesn’t mean the vision isn’t just a mishmash of past, present, and future.

Thanks for the feedback, and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

We’d hashed that question out several times. I think it is good to get the film back on track to where it was by that point so destroying SKB doesn’t feel unneeded. It also offers a more intuitive understanding of why a star still explodes out of it (and even though it makes no scientific sense, it even helps account for it being much smaller).

That scene was not part of the subpar V1, so I had a few painful viewings of it being that way and feeling off.

I sure hope so, too. It’s hard for me to consider moving the Han scene only because I don’t have a good map of the movie in my head or in front of me. But, I do recall really liking the fade of Chewie’s mourning into Ben’s scene.

I’m just going to picture you as Doc Brown from now on, if that’s okay with you.

Fine by me. I don’t particularly look or act like him, yet it does seem to fit.
