^ It was me, after formerly adding it as a trooper was hit by the BB8T-ST.

Yeah. FCP7 is already well past it’s lifespan and I’m not in a hurry to learn all over again using something else. I’ll always have FCPX for personal or simple things, but I’m happy with having good 1080p Star Wars and LOTR stuff. That’s 95% of all I’ve edited anyway. This was always a short set of projects rather than a hobby. It’s just that those projects went on and on.

And it’ll take a handful of miracles to have the time required to eventually complete a TROS project.

I don’t have a lot of time and have to type with one hand right now, but I appreciate the continued discussion.

I would love to draw an explicit connection between the First Order and Final Order, however tenuous. I’m not sure if the crew have insignias that aren’t FO, so maybe that could be some work to do to make it feel valid.

The only reason that thing about trimming Rose was on the list to remind me to check it out because someone suggested it, but I don’t know the scene well enough from memory to know what they meant. It probably won’t happen anyway, so don’t worry.

The reason I want to replace Kylo’s line “I never lied to you” is because that revelation in TLJ was not something he told Rey at all, he just goaded her into saying (admitting) it herself. Having him now say “you were right” is more congruent with what came before.

One issue people have is the “suddenness” that Kylo switches sides. Granted, we know he’s always been torn between both sides of the conflict, but I do understand that feeling of the reversal of him “going all in.” I think part of that stems with the “Skype” convo when she is in the Star Destroyer. His motivation was for her to turn to the dark side and whatnot. However, since he is wearing the helmet it allows for easier wiggle room to change some aspects of the conversation.

He’s been obsessed with her and wants Rey on his side. In Last Jedi, he wanted her to join him … Forget about everything and everyone, Jedi, Resistance, etc. etc. So what if the dialogue changes to remove the “join the dark side” to just “Join me.” This adjusts his motivation in that scene to focus on the two of them, and not what side to be on. That way, when he later turns, it helps it feel a little more “natural” since it’s not about being in the light or the dark, but now HIM joining with Rey.

I like that idea also!

I love Luke in TLJ. In contrast to Rey Mary Sue (and I think TROS made it clear this is a valid perception of her), I really relish failure Luke. I had said prior to the ST that my favorite thing about Luke as a hero is that he is not a badass. He struggles, whines, etc, and is very relatable for it.

As much as I enjoyed Han in TFA, it felt like a theme park version. Like “hey it’s HAN SOLO, look at him go.” I’m glad RJ was the one to handle Luke, and that we were given something beyond the surface level of what we thought we wanted.

I had this idea of reusing the Endor shots, but have the Ewoks watch the Falcon flying overhead to establish Kef-Bir as Endor, because why make the gravesite of the Death Star II a different planet? And it would imply that the natives Jannah and the other Stormtroopers refused to kill were the Ewoks. Maybe the First Order were wanting to get revenge on the creatures that helped topple the Empire.

Nice! That’d allow using Coruscant instead for the montage without having to finesse the music much if at all.

Maybe if we could insert Palpatine gloating about how he can’t be killed. Use Snoke’s voice from TLJ interspersed throughout to imply Palpy likes speaking in his voice sporadically, then use his “I cannot be betrayed” monologue from TLJ.

I’m still not sure TROS even means to state that Luke knew Rey was a Palpatine during the events of TLJ. But it might be easy to remove the idea that “Leia knew.” Is it just that one line that sets that up?

Adding Luke to the Palpatine deathsplosion 2.0 doesn’t seem fruitful to me, though.

Slowing that shot down seems to work pretty well, so Snoke’s mouth doesn’t move when it shouldn’t. I… don’t know whether that was tried last time, but it looks okay to me now.

This hypothetical project would not supplant TROS:A.

I’m almost afraid to type this, but…

I like the idea of just slipping into a contributor role for a TROS project with you at the helm. Partly because life is much more demanding than it was when I did TLJ:L, and partly because TROS is oil to faneditors’ water.

Eh, it doesn’t really add anything IMHO.

Yeah, this is a spitball idea; I don’t expect anything to really materialize from it. But I feel if TLJ highlights how things repeat and cycle through and democratizes responsibility, what TROS has to offer feels superfluous. Just end this two-issue comic sequel to Star Wars with an ellipses.
