That’s not a bad idea, for that approach!
That’s not a bad idea, for that approach!
I love this town.

Nah, I’d take the Falcon over the X-Wing.
I remain open, but I’m probably not going to change the ‘Rey Skywalker’ angle. I don’t want to do anything dodgy in the very final scene. My approach tends to be fairly conservative, after all.
The idea in 2004, just executed better, I guess. Would you want to see him aged at all?
Partly. Also having so many elements onscreen gives more to look slightly different compared to other shots. The sky, the skiff, the sand, etc.
Most of the other shots are more focused and have less ‘liability.’
Obviously despecializing most of them would be ideal, but 4K83 works pretty well for most shots. Surprisingly well.
Really, “The Phantom Menace” would be the best one.
Here’s the current state of the crawl. Obviously some of it is temporary placeholders until I can get the wording right.
Episode IX
THE RISE OF SKYWALKER
Things aren’t good. The First Order has really gotten ugly and the sense of hope alluded to at the end of the last movie is alive but suffocated.
As Rey, sole heir to the Jedi, continues her training under the ailing General Leia Organa, their fledging Resistance gathers intel to forge a path to freedom.
Meanwhile, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren rages in search of his grandfather’s SITH WAYFINDER, desperate to end the spectre haunting him with threats to his rule…
I think all that would be disruptive to the movie’s progression, including holding out on Leia appearing until that point.
Well, aside from the raw lossless audio tracks (6 files for one 5.1 mix) that I included, the DTS track is the best quality finished mix.
Wow, this discussion moves fast.
I was chiming in to say that I guess the “Empress Palpatine” line sets up a “I’m just Rey” payoff just fine. But if she’s going to be a Palpatine anyway, I’d still lean toward keeping the original line. I don’t really want to change the title or that aspect of it.
In a Rey Nobody edit, yes, there’s no issue and ‘Skywalker’ works well. I guess for both potential versions I would prefer to keep the original ‘Skywalker’ ending.
The final shot is weird, since she ignored the old lady and we see repurposed footage from the other desert planet earlier. The Falcon taking off would be a cool alternative, in any event.
There’s no good titles to crib… ‘Balance of the Force’ doesn’t quite resonate with the actual movie, and has ‘Force’ again.
‘Heir to the Jedi’ just sounds like ROTJ 2: Electric Boogaloo, and uses ‘Jedi’ a third time. If single word titles were appropriate, ‘Bloodlines’ would be a good choice.
Yeah, I guess a title change would be in order in that event. I’ll have to think about that. I like the clip a great deal with the Falcon; I could still use that even if I didn’t change the line.
I think what’s missing to sell that line is a specific mention elsewhere of the name “Rey Palptine.”
Yes, even though hopefully Ridley will eventually present the sequence with tentacles but no beak, despecializing those two shots now will let me preset a good V1 that can stand in case that never happens.
The rest I am using whole shots from 4K83, but those two especially wouldn’t be great to do that for.
You’re the reason I’ve even believed Rey Nobody is possible.
Eh, no more quick of a transition than almost any other involving spaceships.
Interesting. What does Kylo then tell Rey in the hangar?
I just start threatening and choking people telepathically when something’s not right.
Always nice to hear the twins theme. Not sure about it here, though, as Leia is the focus. I don’t know, maybe something to toss around.
Thanks for putting it together. I think the weak part of it is dipping into the ‘coming together’ piece for just a couple seconds before shifting over to Yoda lifting the X-Wing. One piece of music too many. If Luke and Leia can segue directly into it then maybe we’ve got something.
That could work…
ROTJ’s 19SE (SDR) colors look just fine to me. Moreso than the new ANH or ESB. Maybe it’s because the 2004/11 transfers were just the worst.
Anyway, I find that increasing the brightness somewhat and dialing the saturation up 20% makes it feel like it could fit in reasonably well with the modified 2011 version of the other two films without taking things too far.
To adjust the brightness, I increased the whites by 13%, the midrange about half that much at 6%, and left the blacks where they were. It looks good to me, anyway, and hopefully that logic is sound.
Sounds like our projects will have a lot in common. Looking forward to samples!
Both parties are me.
Myself: I hold your oath fulfilled. Go, be at peace.
My compulsions: fade into sweet rest
When I finish the saga, I imagine feeling like this.
No, I didn’t take it that way. Just being snarky.
I probably should be shamed, though.
Well I brought it into this thread for exposure.
I should be shamed.
