Could anyone possibly “de-specialize” these two sarlacc shots for me? I wouldn’t think it’d be too difficult for someone in the know.

Just wanted to make sure this request wasn’t lost. For these two shots using the entire 4K83 frame would be particularly jarring when they should be able to have the tentacles removed (they are both stationary) somewhat easily. It need not be religiously performed; it’s okay if the end result isn’t 100% authentic OOT, just to remove the added tentacles.

Once I’ve got that taken care of I should be able to shove ROTJ V1 out the door, set things up to be ready if and whenever Sir Ridley completes work on the Sarlacc, and turn all attention on TROS.

Chase Adams did the 3PO line switch.

And yeah, I’d be up for those, if anyone knows where to find suitable replacements. Nice idea about his AOTC line. Maybe others would work, too, like “Shut me down” or “You don’t know what’s out there.”

^ Rey’s parents being drunkards may not be the best fit for the edit. Having the retcon of TLJ feel authentic is the trick. The linchpin of the issue was in the line “I never lied to you.” Like, yeah we know you didn’t, because it was Rey who said so in the last movie. Kylo commented on Rey being sold for drinking money because that’s how it looked and felt to her. He then discovered more after meeting with Palpatine. (Come to think of it… how exactly does he learn this?)

Replacing the line with “You were right… your parents were no one” validates TLJ’s point before retconning it.

It… I… the thi—-…

I mean, this whole thing is a load of shit, but my history with SW compels me to polish this one last… deposit before closing up shop.

You could probably skip everything but the last four episodes of the new season, honestly. xP

You just gave me permission.

I don’t really like the clones in TCW. AOTC and ROTS made them out to just be mindless automatons who do whatever they’re told and don’t give too much of a shit.

They get an order to kill their commanding officers with whom they sometimes pal around? Ho hum, better get to it.

In TCW they’re so humanized and beloved they have to invent a brain chip implant to explain how they could do that. It doesn’t feel like it’s part of the same story. I still prefer the older Clone Wars series and the multimedia that was put out prior to 2008.

They brought in Darth Maul’s long lost brother. Weird, but all right I guess. But then they dredge up Darth Maul himself. Hearing about that years ago before ever even watching the show sort of put me further off doing so.

But, maybe when my kids are a little older we’ll give it a fresh chance.

TBF, nobody has freaking arc in this film.

Poe’s arc… from hothead flyboy to responsible general.
Finn’s arc… from victim of the empire and all alone, to force sensitive leader who teams up with other victims to topple it.
Rey’s arc… from someone who is lost, drawn to darkness, and doesn’t know her place or have a family to someone who chooses good, has a family, and presumably becomes the leader of a new Jedi Order.

If that’s not an arc… I don’t know what an arc is then.

Maybe it’s just not the arc you would have written.

All of those arcs seem to have been addressed to my satisfaction in TFA and/or TLJ. At least one twice already.

Awesome stuff. Thanks again.

Maybe I was too hasty is telling off Rey Palpatine. I don’t like that plot point, but from a fan editing POV I’m ambivalent.

I think two versions will be likely. I’d like to try to execute that idea as well as possible.

One teesy thing would be to leave Kylo’s revelation at “You’re his granddaughter.” No “You are a Palpatine.”

I do think yellow lightning could still be cool in a Rey Palpatine version.

Guys forget about a Rey Skywalker/no one ending.

This is the True ending we deserve.

Oh, baby.

Re: yellow lightning. The idea is to deplete that moment of its original meaning of tying her to Palpatine. Since the lightning represents the inner darkness she fears, building a saber with a yellow blade at the end could be seen as her having accepted and integrated this into herself, reaching a sense of balance.

Re: clones. Ideally somebody, anybody’s face could be shown on a small group of people in like one shot aboard the Sith Fleet ships. Obviously with what we have to work with having Temuera Morrison’s voice is about the only viable shorthand with which we can telegraph that these are clones, but it raises questions. Moreso if one is into the EU, as clones had to be phased out over time.

Re: still releasing a Rey Palpatine version. Probably, at least to prevent regretting not doing so.

I wonder why the Fett clones would resurface after the Empire phased them out, though.

If his face could be added to any underlings during the destruction of Kijimi maybe that’d be enough to subtly tip off that way of addressing the problem to fans. Not sure how possible that’d really be.

EDIT: There’s only two real people in the scene, and the rest are helmeted cardboard cutouts. No real opportunity to shove in more clone audio. But… hmmm… might be something to think about.

I’m finding myself much more willing to just go along with whatever works where I used to be continuity conscious. I guess TROS just makes no fucking sense, so whatever works!

I think the whole Rey Palpatine touches on Rey being afraid of herself or her power. It’s been there throughout, and I guess it’s meant to spark this.

But when it comes to actually watching the movie, it is just a red herring that just tends to eliminate all subtlety.

Fuck Rey Palptine. Rey Nobody or bust. I’m in.
