Awesome. Well, there’s no hurry, and collaborator sounds better than servant.

Saying of which… Chase, if I could send you the clip of Rey standing up to Palpatine’s, could you apply your work to it to depict the spirits of the Jedi subtly powering her up? Unless your source material was fairly high quality. Just no color correction or other adjustment so that whatever settings are ultimately applied can be to most if not all clips added along the way.
Looking out over this project like
But, to you all
Yeah… can we have Luke haunt him?
Eh, doesn’t really fit in that well. Oh, well.
They had to make the most of what little Carrie Fischer footage they had, and making some sort of point to surround Leia handing her the saber was a way to do that. And having Leia’s own saber represent her reinforces that idea.
Come to think of it, TROS gives us Palpatine saying “Luke Skywalker.” Might be worth trying to edit into the hologram scene in ESB.
I guess that would require removing or recontextualizing the Leia flashback duel.
And probably not worth trying to preserve the ‘Leia senses the death of her son at the end of her Jedi path… someone who will complete her journey’ in that event.
While it is always crucial to provide fan-editors with a constant flow of new ideas and concepts, I believe the fundamental conventions that run this community dictate that when a fan-editor hears you out, responds to your idea and makes the descion to NOT work with it, the best thing to do in the situation is to leave it at that and not bring it up again. OR, do it yourself!
Not necessary at all. I’m more than okay with continuing to talk about it here.
Fair enough, I suppose, but I know you’ll have at least one taker regardless. I’m a scavenger with this stuff, after all, but it’d have to fit like a glove. Given that we get Palpatine returning at all, I like the film’s opening.
They could’ve done about anything if they’d planned it and more or less stuck with it.
If we could somehow do a wholesale saber replacement throughout and have her use Leia’s to replace Anakin’s which broke in TLJ, then Luke gives her his green one on Ach-To…that’d be an interesting experiment. But it might not work given how much dialogue is centered around “[Leia’s] brother’s saber.”
I agree. Should have been, but may not be able to just be implied. But maybe! But maybe not.
But maybe.
Interesting idea, and that’d ease the hypothetical platonic audience into Palpy returning. But I don’t think I’ll go that route myself. I’m happy to keep monitoring it and providing feedback, whether here or in the General TROS ideas thread.
Great article, and a fun new thing to learn.

Here’s a little morsel for now. Things are slow-going, but thanks to the pandemic I have had just a little time to do some of the simpler stuff.
sade1212, I didn’t even notice your post before making my last one. Thanks to both of you. I’ll see how that works!
V4 is live on the usual venues. 😃
Not to derail that conversation, but the shot from the trailer with Leia holding Han’s medal is just soooo short. 😕
I love the concept, but I’m afraid this is going to be out of our collective ability. I don’t think any amount of special effects work we could do would make it feel totally seamless.
I really love that musical piece, that would be a beautiful way to have opened the film. It would grind to a screeching halt when Rey makes that gross sound.
Ben looks like the studio put him there, not a fan, even if he does look a touch weird. If you’d presented this to me in the context of the movie I wouldn’t have questioned it.
I’m not sure how to take the wording of this comment? Are you saying that it looks really good or looks like the studio put it there?
I meant that it looks good. even if it is a little weird, it’s nothing that betrays the fact that it’s a fan edit, to me.

As… weird as Luke and Leia seem to me there, Ben seems to blend in.
