Can’t help but agree; I’ll see how it sounds with just “what?” and nothing more.

And I gotta say: I am genuinely surprised by how much BETTER this newer computer performs than either of my previous two Macs. It’s only 3 years newer, but MAN. Even booting into my old hard drive to run Sierra, things are dramatically more fluid. I can actually… use FCP7 and FCPX like a human being. Like, it actually… plays things back in a way that lets me see and hear what’s happening.

It honestly makes me want to find some other fan edit project to work on now!

Thanks, Muffy! Very glad you enjoyed it. I don’t know what I’ll say during a commentary; my life hasn’t afforded me as much time to ruminate on this film compared to the others but I guess I gotta do it.

I would have liked for Ep9 to follow TLJ’s lead in Rey’s identity as she would forge ahead with building herself up as the heir to the Jedi. However, if they want to have her struggle with inner darkness, I think TROS on its own as a film benefits more from having a Palpatine lineage than what it would be if we removed it via fan editing.

Arguably, though, I took the opposite approach to handling ROTS by undercutting a dramatic punch for continuity with ROTJ. But even then there are both versions available.

I like the “what? how?” moment personally, and it was one of the choices in the voice pack. I thought it was less on the nose than “oh, that’s not fair.” I think it’s good to have the KoR say something on Exegol because that’s the only time in the movie that we hear the vocalizations that axlanian and krausfadr worked to match (as they get beaten).

That’s the KoR getting beaten, not axlanian and krausfadr. I’m pretty sure they weren’t under any duress while working on that.

The official explanation doesn’t make that better, because the Force skipped a generation or something. For just the movies, though, sure.

Has anyone put together a list of scenes or moments that would need to be addressed for a Rey Nobody edit?

Well, once I have the components needed to complete a ‘Rey Nobody’ version I will stitch them in and release it. But the process doesn’t seem to be complete yet.

The KoR voice project had different options for dialogue, so I just picked the ones I preferred. And some I didn’t use at all.

The ice wall audio is super tricky and convoluted. But I will revisit it again and see if there’s anything else I can do. Knowing that it sounds like the music drops out helps! Perhaps dropping in a little bit of music that halfway matches would help.

I can certainly just remove the one instance of “Traitor!” I’ll watch the scene again and see how it strikes me.

MoviesRemastered, what’d you do with the transition to Vader’s helmet? I didn’t find myself able to improve on the clip as received from DominicCobb.

Maybe I could just put out a V1 soon and leave the door open for the crackly saber and any other visual tweaks in the future. Will need to find time to record a commentary, though.

Part of me would like to remove that in order to bend toward TLJ, but this film in and of itself sets her parents up to be noble martyrs.

I’ll take a listen to that Finn line and see, I guess.

JEDIT: Well, I think the Finn line, clumsy as it is, serves a purpose. As I think we’d come to earlier, it helps frame what follows as being something other than a death parade going though the galaxy killing all FO.

Well said, I agree with you. I felt bad after seeing 9 in the theater and was reluctant to enter this arena. You all have provided great ideas and improved this to a satisfying degree.

I’ll rename the file slightly and reupload; hopefully that’d be enough to work.

You may need to try to download the file rather than play it inside your browser. If it says it’s been accessed too many times, try copying it to your own Google Drive and then copying it again within your Drive. That should be enough to fool it into letting you download it.

Again, without the technically optional bits and pieces that remain, this is what a final release would look like without anything else coming in.

It’s always a little unsettling for someone to go missing. Hoping it’s just due to life rather than adversity. Time will have to tell us.

I do, too. I PM’d him about a week ago and haven’t gotten anything. I do hope to see a return from him, but obviously it’ll depend on that.

I think I found the problem with the video encode, and I hope it’s just a weird glitch rater than the video file being corrupted. Worst case I have to redo the color grade after re-exporting from FCP7.

I hope to put out one more workprint in the near future, now that I’ve got everything finally situated. It won’t include kewlfish’s crackly saber video or audio. So, if for any reason he isn’t able to finish that work, this will be pretty close to the end product.

Right now I am troubleshooting some issue that is preventing me from exporting video from FCPX or Compressor. I can export audio-only stuff fine, so I’m not sure what the deal is.

I’ve never seen anyone pull off keeping the victory celebration music while removing the planet cutaway itself. I don’t think it will ever work. It’s an all or nothing package.

Sounds impressive! Would be interested in taking a look at it.
