By all means. Sending now.
By all means. Sending now.
Burbin has completed the English and Spanish language subtitles, with French to come soon.
So, I believe that only leaves DTS audio (incoming from ChainsawAsh) and cover artwork (forthcoming from Movies Remastered). Then I can release V1!
Could you send me them So I could start portuguese ones?
PM sent!
No need to hurry! But it looks like the wait is nearly over.

Ah, and that tv spot appears to simply edit in “Skywalker” from the line I was thinking of. Should be able to do it yourself better than pulling in audio from the tv spot itself.
And for color correction. If you apply skenera’s Exegol LUT at 60% for those scenes and the general LUT at about 90% for the rest, it should be pretty close.
#5 was this really cut? I think it’s still in there. Also, was there really a TV spot with that alternate wording?
EDIT: Oh, I was getting mixed up. I was thinking of the line as Palpatine tosses Ben down the pit.
Fun as that sounds, it’d be very difficult for me to put together 3 hours of contiguous time for it. That’s all right, but I agree it’d be fun!
Sounds like a good lineup! 😉
And as far as I’m concerned, The Coaxium Heist with the original opening reinstated rather than a crawl is what I’d like best.
Artoo can only communicate in Bill Wurtz’ jingles.

I haven’t been in this thread in a while. Jason, if you’re reading, thanks for everything. Yours has been a screen name familiar to me for a very long time.
Godspeed, Rebel.
Replace all 3PO dialogue with George Lucas clips.
Whoo, the dreaded commentary track has been recorded. lol
There was so much in this edit to comment on, and I know so many moments went by without mention. My thoughts weren’t always coherent and I didn’t have as much to say about the movie and story itself as with past installments.
Thank you all so much for coming out of nowhere to produce a jawdropping fan edit. This was the fan edit that almost wasn’t, making it all the more impressive to have done so much with it. It’s been a privilege to compile and execute. I wish I could gather us together with a rented theater and a round of PTO for everyone to spend nine days watching the whole saga.
You guys are incredible. Thank you for everything. It’s meant more to me than you might think.
The real reason is because I just didn’t think the sequels were going to be as big of a deal. But since I’m not planning to release anymore for 7 or 8 I don’t want to do it for 9 for consistency’s sake. If I woke up in 2016 and had it all to do again, sure!
But yeah, I know…
You mean in the end credits? No, because I hadn’t for 7 or 8, for consistency’s sake. But absolutely yes in the documentation.
Just recorded the first half of my commentary track. I’ll record the rest another night.
It’s not going to be the best of the bunch, but it’ll exist!
And when the civilian fleet arrives I’m going to be quiet and edit in the audio with original audio tracks brought way down and added voices balanced out so that everyone can have a fair chance to hear as much of the contributed voices as possible. Anyone who contributed is technically in the movie, even if inaudible.
Eh, the way it is now works totally fine, and I think only the power of suggestion would make it any better.
Feel free if you’d like, I guess. I’d never done that sort of thing; a lot of the changes to my SW edits involve subtraction, and one can still consider the full novelizations to be ‘expanded.’
Books can be different from film counterparts. But, hey, you can do that if you’d like to.
I hadn’t thought about it, but I just realized the unintentional symbolism of Anakin’s Lightsaber and a Purple Lightsaber being used together to defeat Palpatine… because that’s what should have happened on Coruscant all those years ago.
Thank you; always good to hear that a real 5.1 setup sounds good, since I don’t have one in which to test things.
Well, I don’t think moving that shot to buffer the transition before the heroes run toward the trooper and meet Lando works due to the music playing. It’d be hairy, and so I think what’s there at present is our best bet here. No sync adjustment needed.
I tweaked some other audio stuff: made Rey’s line about the mask slightly louder, the KoR lines in the desert a little quieter, and added more of a ‘telephone’ filter to RogueLeader’s trooper lines.
Excellent!
The problem is that both make use of quite a bit of work that was done on the 2011 masters. (Clips from Revisited, DeEd, FX done for this project, etc.) Those clips would have to be adjusted to fit with the new masters. It’d just have to be a whole new project, and there’d been to much already done. See what Ridley did with the Falcon scene in ANH, for one thing.
As long as all three feel consistent enough, I’m happy with them as the SE option when I wand that. And I love what’s being done to restore the OOT from these new masters when I prefer to watch that.
I’ll give that another listen as well; thanks.
For clarification HAL, I did watch it in browser so that could contribute to the volume issue.
Okay, that’s good to hear. I used Audacity to encode the aC3 track rather than Compressor to bypass a strange issue.
Great work on this, Hal.
Watched workprint 6.1. It looks really good, and my feedback is minimal.
- For the edit in the desert scene, the cut at 23:40 is pretty obvious. I suggest using the clip at 24:02 and placing it at 23:40 as a break, THEN cut to them running.
I can try that.
- Would you consider putting in a couple establishing shots of Ahch-To at 1:26:28? It’s such a hard cut here and it’s our first time seeing the island in this movie, and doesn’t give much context. Is there a shot or two from TFA or TLJ that could flesh out this sequence a little more? In my dreams, I’d love to see a wipe to seeing Ren’s TIE fighter fly toward the planet, and THEN establishing shot of the island, and THEN Rey burning the TIE.
As it is I stuck with the original music and used the corresponding (but different) moment in the OST for the original establishing shot used later. I like that the new shot isn’t a repeat of a shot from before, but I do agree it’s one of many abrupt cuts in the movie as it was.
- In Kylo Ren’s mask montage, Rey says, “You’re a creature in a mask” at 18:08. But it’s hard to hear over the music. It’s an important line. Could it be moved just a second or two later so it is more audible?
If DominicCobb could make that change I’ll use it. I have the entire scene as a single clip so I couldn’t modify it. I could probably find which channels the line is in, and raise the volume slightly for that line.
- I’m a big fan of the Knights of Ren dialogue. I do think you should consider adding one of the lines in the helmet rebuilding scene, but that’s just my opinion.
I really think a subtle approach to their added voices works better in the final film, but I also like all their added lines in the demo reel.
If you’re reading, Burbin, the first chance idea would only affect sync for two or three subtitled lines. So if you sync them to the current workprint, I can easily just readjust those couple lines once you get me the subtitle files.
