I don’t believe so, but I’d hope he’d still be able to and save you at least a little work.

OB-1 ages very rapidly, accelerated growth and all.
Sure, man! Let me know when you feel happy with it and I’ll be glad to include it. Thanks!!
I’ll get the fix for COD out in the meantime.
Oh, gotcha. Well, I do think the effect we’ve gotten used to is the best of those options. May be just that I’d gotten used to it.
Hey, that’s pretty neat! I can’t imagine anyone in the world would have a problem with it without awareness it was messed with and wanted to go frame by frame.
I don’t get it, though. What’s the upside compared to what kewlfish and Luka Frik have been working on?
Second episode is good!
Pretending that this is the third episode of a show meant to follow up on the Mandalorian, it’s working for me so far. It must be a combination of the current enthusiasm for SW TV, relation to stuff seen in the Mandalorian, presenting things in a more interesting order, lack of annoying theme intro, fuller episodes with a complete story, and seamless editing throughout.
That intro theme music gets me pumped, like it’s a new SW show. Well done so far!!
Ben disappears immediately after saying, “ow!” and leaves Rey to successfully overthrow Palpatine by herself. Paint out jonh’s work of adding ghosts to approximate the original footage and edit out the Jedi voices.
Sweet, thanks!!
JEDIT: totally sincere, since I have yet to reupload for the last fix.
Might be more suited for HAL’s thread, but it’s kind of dead so I thought I’d put it here. He mentions in his commentary that in Rey’s duel with Luke, his initial viewing reaction was along the lines of “oh, it’s Rey outdoing my hero again…” - but I’m not crazy, Luke wins the fight, right? He fairly effortlessly blocks every blow and then disarms her. She’s the aggressor, he has no intention of hurting her. She only ‘wins’ after that by drawing a lightsaber on him, and I can hardly hold it against Luke for backing away from that rather than attempting to continue to fight with a stick!
You’re right! Just goes to show how that thought process goes, especially over time.
I agree, RogueOne’s idea would be wonderful if it can be achieved. Just have the saber short out, and it’d tie in very nicely.
Not to piss you off or anything, Hal, but if deleted scenes for this movie come out in the next year or two, will you come out of retirement just to do a V3 to incorporate them? I know you’ve said yes, but I also know you want this all done and over with to put it behind you.
Oh, yes, I would most likely do so. Provided that the deleted scenes actually fit in and make an improvement.
To be fair, they’re fine for what they are. But usually fan edits try to present something that works cinematically, which is very often a limiting factor. If you’re doing a mock-up like this guy, you don’t have that issue.
Just finished watching the first (or second?) episode. I imagined having just watched the first part of the Microseries through Anakin being knighted. I really like the idea of bookending the show with that.
Opening with a Maul tease forces the audience to just accept that from the get-go, which probably is better than after getting discount Maul in the form of his twin brother or whatever first. The darksaber is there and lets me know it’s going to tie into what I learned from the Mandalorian.
I know most of the episode is from the 2008 movie, but I found it engaging and enjoyable this time, whatever you did with it. Felt like a solid intro to a new show. Ventress felt interesting to lead off which, having been introduced from the Microseries intro. My only thought is that it felt off for her and Obi-Wan to allude to past encounters, when I’ve only ever seen her and Anakin interact.
All in all, it was a good show! I’ll check out the next one another night.
PM sent
I’ll hold off on uploading a fixed version, though it’ll be ready to go. Let me know what you think, and thanks!
Well, if you think it’d be relatively easy to do! Otherwise I’m okay with how it is. I’m nearly done encoding a corrected V5.
I don’t think so. That idea would probably look weird unless the planet’s color scheme was totally greyed.
Without KoR lines, yes, but probably not without the fleet chatter.
See the FAQ on the Drive for some tips.
I was thinking more just to remove the one time her mother says her name in the flashback.
Mildly-yellow pointed out to me an unfortunate video error at about 50:46 during the podrace in which another shot appears for about a second. I will fix and reupload once I do the same about an issue with TFA:R V5.
About Hux. I think we tossed that around but it doesn’t really make the movie any better. Just causes more problems and makes it abrupt.
Thanks for the kind words, though!
I’ve been working on the Mustafar, Coruscant and glitchy Saber scenes all day.
Mustafar release needs a custom tie fighter animation for the establishing shot. I’ve finished the clean footage and I have the model but can’t get the speed right. If anyone can help please let me know.
Coruscant is done but the planet shot is very blurry. I’ve messaged Poppa but if anyone has high res image please let me know.
Glitchy Saber is looking good but I’ll need some help with contrasting as I’m colourblind.
I’ve also been thinking of keeping Hans dice a reality in TLJ and having Ben look at them just before Han shows up on DSII. I’m thinking of reshooting the scene IRL as I couldn’t get the disappearing dice looking right before they disappear but what are your thoughts?
What Coruscant shot are you working on?
Perhaps poppasketti could add TIEs to a finished clean plate shot. That’s exciting!
And what’s the dice idea? That he’ll look down at them in his hand using TLJ footage? I guess you’d have to not have them disappear earlier, you mean?
Hal, I feel kinda bad for pointing this out considering you just released this new version to fix a few video bugs, but I noticed that right after Rey slices Kylo’s face at the end of their duel, there are what appear to be pieces of another scene on both the left and right sides of the frame. It’s the only time I noticed it in the entire movie, so I don’t think it’s a persistent issue.
Ugh, you’re right. I will fix that and reissue again. Can’t leave that as it is. You think you check everything…
Thank you; I’m glad you noticed this this soon.
