Still can’t wait for V2. This may be your greatest achievement in your career as a fan editor, Hal. Even though you’ve said you couldn’t have done this without us. I still think your Episode III edit is your best of your Star Wars edits, but this will be your best work to fix Episode IX.

So apparently that animation is already finished, too. By Petrovelly (says so in description). But only viewable on their SubscribeStar. Doubt they are willing to share it, either.
IMO just kinda sucks that this fan editing community’s manpower is being divided because the Fixing Disney Star Wars team is using financial contributions.
EDIT: I realize they likely wouldn’t be able to create that Mustafar shot without that money, but it still seems kinda scummy imo.

Yeah, well, whatareyagonnado.

I don’t think the line “Ben, come home” ever got to the place of sounding totally natural. I’m open to it but it’s not something I’ve clamored for.

That’s pretty nice, Cinefy! I do think that it’s better to go subtle, so you’re right that I will leave it as you got it prior.

I got some feedback from a few layman friends who agreed that the castle and forest shots feel natural and make for an improved opening.

There actually are lava sounds in there already, although there’s the TIE sounds and music that make it hard to hear.

Right now I have all ‘streams’ synced to the changes that have been made for V2.

Things being waited on at this point:

  • Any improvements anyone may make to the Castle and forest shots
  • Crackly saber effects
  • jonh fixing the haircut artifacts and then skenera de-blue’ing the footage

That’s it, I think!

Their romantic relationship in TFA gives me the vibes of “predatory guy eventually may weaken female until she falls for him” but she resists and kicks his ass, while at the same time maybe “protesting too much.”

In TLJ Rey’s passionate hatred gives way to compassion and a naïve sense of being able to fix him while Kylo feels like he can pursue his deep, needy desires for her through manipulation. They each make themselves vulnerable to the other before Rey rejects his hand.

In TROS they each redouble their outer shells to protect their vulnerability and feelings for the other, fighting and fighting until they eventually give in.

Meanwhile Finn keeps hitting his head against a brick wall with Rey, pushing Rose away in the process. Rose decides to barely exist after this, and another random girl gets Finn on the rebound.

^ I don’t plan to use that second castle shot, just the main establishing shot and seeing over Kylo’s shoulder later.

IMHO, I think all three ST films have pretty clear romantic (and marriage specifically) imagery and elements. It’s not sarcasm. In the surrealist cinematic world of the main Star Wars saga, those present clearly to me. I’m not overly acquainted with esoteric Reylo internet stuff, it’s just my read of the movies.

Kylo carrying Rey across the threshold, taking of hands (rejecting Finn’s hand in favor of taking Kylo/Ben’s even), and lines like, “I do.”

It doesn’t have to make sense. This is a weird movie universe where archetypes play themselves out melodramatically. Rey is the light (and female) and Kylo is the dark (and male). Of course there’s going to be romantic and sexual archetypes invoked.
