In your cut do the heroes simply sneak onto the destroyer?
In your cut do the heroes simply sneak onto the destroyer?
I don’t think the line “Ben, come home” ever got to the place of sounding totally natural. I’m open to it but it’s not something I’ve clamored for.
That’s pretty nice, Cinefy! I do think that it’s better to go subtle, so you’re right that I will leave it as you got it prior.
I got some feedback from a few layman friends who agreed that the castle and forest shots feel natural and make for an improved opening.
Sure, I can address those. Makes sense.
There actually are lava sounds in there already, although there’s the TIE sounds and music that make it hard to hear.
Right now I have all ‘streams’ synced to the changes that have been made for V2.
Things being waited on at this point:
That’s it, I think!
That’s wonderful. Thank you, Burbin. Now the SW saga can finally be free of continuity issues.
Poppasketti did the TIE flyover the forest, and 21C Peasant did the first shot of the castle.
Yes, that would be wonderful.
Current state of it: https://vimeo.com/506231329
I don’t believe so, no.
L8wrtr did. He cut away right before Yoda reacts, leaving the scene on a cliffhanger.
I’d say whenever you get it where you’re happy with it just send a download link. Again, it’s such a minute change, but I appreciate it on a weird level.
Nice!!!
And I’d probably interpret it different if it wasn’t taking place in an archetype-heavy melodrama, to be fair.
Their romantic relationship in TFA gives me the vibes of “predatory guy eventually may weaken female until she falls for him” but she resists and kicks his ass, while at the same time maybe “protesting too much.”
In TLJ Rey’s passionate hatred gives way to compassion and a naïve sense of being able to fix him while Kylo feels like he can pursue his deep, needy desires for her through manipulation. They each make themselves vulnerable to the other before Rey rejects his hand.
In TROS they each redouble their outer shells to protect their vulnerability and feelings for the other, fighting and fighting until they eventually give in.
Meanwhile Finn keeps hitting his head against a brick wall with Rey, pushing Rose away in the process. Rose decides to barely exist after this, and another random girl gets Finn on the rebound.
^ I don’t plan to use that second castle shot, just the main establishing shot and seeing over Kylo’s shoulder later.
IMHO, I think all three ST films have pretty clear romantic (and marriage specifically) imagery and elements. It’s not sarcasm. In the surrealist cinematic world of the main Star Wars saga, those present clearly to me. I’m not overly acquainted with esoteric Reylo internet stuff, it’s just my read of the movies.
Kylo carrying Rey across the threshold, taking of hands (rejecting Finn’s hand in favor of taking Kylo/Ben’s even), and lines like, “I do.”
It doesn’t have to make sense. This is a weird movie universe where archetypes play themselves out melodramatically. Rey is the light (and female) and Kylo is the dark (and male). Of course there’s going to be romantic and sexual archetypes invoked.
There are a few marriage things, also. Kylo carrying Rey over the threshold of his ship in TFA on Takodana, Rey saying, “I do.”
I believe I looked through that before but I honestly don’t remember. I really don’t mind Rogue One but it wouldn’t hurt to reevaluate it while I’m at it. But I expect I’ll probably leave it as is in the end.
Absolutely. Again, I’ll plan to implement the existing shot, though will welcome any such work from anyone able and interested.
I was able to finesse it to make it work even so, as the purple blade is only on the far left for a few frames, using layering and cropping.
I was able to tinker with some of the other bits and pieces. I did find where 21C has posted the Mustafar shots. I will get that implemented with corresponding audio. And that way if anyone does want to explore the idea of adding trees to the foreground I could drop that in.
It’s the one found here, immediately following the establishing shot of the planet:

Thanks!
^ I was just coming here to say the same thing, Chase. Shot 29 purple has two blue sabers in it.
Yes!
I’m just taking some time off as I’m burnt out. If you scroll through my old posts it should be clearly posted, if not I’ll be back in the office in a few days. No access to vimeo on my phone.
I’ll do that. Thanks, and I hope you get to relax and recuperate.
Okay, yeah, I don’t think I’d be able to recreate that in FCP7 or X! But that’s okay. If it’s possible to export a LUT for Rogue One I’d be okay with rendering it through with that. But I never noticed any issues myself with the way the movie looks.
This project is getting a little less half-assed, it seems, compelled by you all (in a good way).
I will look into Dominic’s handling of the underworld level, thanks.
And I’m sure the Portuguese subtitles will be welcome whenever it’s sane for you to complete them. No rush, in other words.
