Sounds great to me! Even with shows I only watch after they’ve concluded, can’t help but consider the season blocking and infer about the experience if I’d been watching them as they premiered.
It’d be good to have archived I guess, I could imagine revisiting this fondly in a decade or something.
It still seems weird to me that it all came together the way it did. Again, it’s like the civilian fleet in the movie. I’m not aware of such a wide collaboration for a fan edit project and I’m happy to be the MC. When the movie came out and I felt the weight of how little free time I have anymore, I almost cut 9 loose and forgot about it in terms of working on a fan edit project.
EDIT: Nevermind; you can’t print gifs.
Man, that’s perfect. Sincere bravo to you. As much as I sometimes think “hey I’ve gotten pretty good at sound mixing for edits” things like this remind me that I haven’t skimmed the surface.
That’s wonderful. Once you’re happy with it please just send it along.
JEDIT: And I just looked; you’re quite a new member, too! Where the hell’d you come from? Thanks for everything so far the last month or so.
Sounds great!
It gets repetitive but so would my own self-dialogue if I had ample time to mull over this, so it’s helpful to a point!
But yes, I think I’ve got it resolved, as I said a while back: no changes to TFA or TLJ about this but hopefully can change the line to “we’ve become a dyad.” But if not, oh well.
@RogueLeader Because I’m clearing up misconceptions regarding TRoS and its so-called “effects” on TFA & TLJ and you guys seem to act as if you can’t infer things from TRoS and the prequels?
Oh, please. We aren’t trying to deduce a canon answer, we’re thinking about what changes to make for alternate versions of the source material. As part of that we consider sources of confusion and how muddy that can get in the minds of moviegoers. I’m sure there are answers out there but I’m wondering how to smooth things over for a first timer who will never read any of the ancillary material.
That wasn’t my understanding. I thought we said the dyad and the mind bridge were two separate things that interacted to some degree.
I don’t blame anyone for getting confused.
Why remove that line? The fact would remain anyway, and I don’t see what there’d be to gain.
We’re gonna see if that line can be made to sound that way without sounding like a YouTube Poop.

Suckle at my media teat, hungry friends! Let the milk of edited Star Wars nourish your growing forms!

Damn, 4 new pages!! Anyone wanna paraphrase what I’ve missed?
That clip from sherlockpotter sounds great.
We all tore our hair out about how the dyad makes little sense and didn’t really decide on anything. Meanwhile, poppasketti posted his version of a clean plate for the puppet show.
JEDIT: Just a random thought. I really appreciate that jonh’s addition of the ghosts gives us some sort of reason why not to expect Palpatine to just return… again. Because the Jedi ghosts took him DOWN with their ghostly powers, tackling him to prevent him slipping away from true death. Or whatever.
Cancel your plans and watch the new clone wars epsssssss
sherlockpotter will solve this or it’ll just remain poop.

Hmm, interesting. That quote suggests that they essentially equate Snoke with Palpatine. (And I get that Snoke wasn’t intended to be a meat puppet, but still, I think it’s reasonable for a moviegoing audience to essentially view them as functionally the same given the opening to TROS.)
I think I’m resolved on this now: TFA and TLJ won’t be altered further about this point, but it’d be nifty to augment Kylo’s line to suggest they became a dyad. This (sort of) explains why Palpatine was surprised by this without negating any Snoke mind-bridging or destiny that was already at work prior.
I don’t think adding that to TFA would really do anything but pile on a little more confusion.
Thanks for the discussion, it’s good to get into the details here in this phase.
And sherlockpotter I’ll look forward to what you can do with that line. 😃
Yeah, I agree with that.
Yeah and removing Snoke’s line begs the question of how he could have anticipated it. It’d be trading one problem for another.
Do we all just need a break? lol
I’ll have to think about that some more. In the before times I could go for a walk and let that and other things stew. I feel like a Turing machine all pent up and ready to do but the electricity is intermittent.
In other words, I wish I had more time to think about this project, let alone actually work on it.
Yeah… and even then, it would still seem dumb for Palpatine to just be like, “Oh, a dyad, eh? Didn’t realize that until now but it turns out that’s the most insanely useful thing I could possible have happen here.”
I guess leaving Snoke’s line but implying they’ve become a dyad since then would make it the least amount of dumb possible, but we’ll see what happens! Thanks for recapping that for me.

I’ve already done it (although I’m sure you could do it even better)
I wonder if it might be good to swap the shots of Kylo and Rey. Let Kylo react to “a weakness in my apprentice.”
But yeah remind me… why was I talked about of this? Because it seems to solve a problem here. lol omg man these days
In this moment I can’t remember exactly what was said that made me feel like it was good to leave Snoke’s TLJ line alone about bridging their minds.
Man, I am starting to feel like a demented figurehead or maybe a poisoned Theoden figure, lol. I just don’t have the headspace these days to track these things, then get to place where it’s “resolved” and then promptly forget about it.
To me, though, having Kylo tell Rey they have become a dyad makes the most intuitive sense, elegantly solving the problem. However, the TLJ Snoke scene is totally coherent without that one line. He just played on their personal weaknesses and sort of used their Force connection without causing it. I guess you could wonder how he knew to count on it or whatever, but man… idk
“She’s just beginning to test her powers. The longer she [I forgot] the more dangerous she becomes.”
No, I’m not sure of that.
