Changing the line from death to birth could work, but you’d have to have the right audio to source it from. It’s something I’m fairly neutral about. If it sounds seamless I imagine I’d go for it.
I don’t really feel a need to modify the “ghouls” line and didn’t have an issue understanding the line. The word is a little unusual, maybe slightly archaic, so I get it. I could potentially get behind replacing it with “Here?” But, that line might be better suited to a situation of someone being told they would be coming later.
And I’m sorry, but I do not think those (or really any) Mark Hamill impressions have a place in this project. They’re fine for mockups or ideas of what could have been, but in no way would those literal recordings have flown if actually mixed into the film to be exhibited.

By this movie, it’s more than fine. I can understand some of it in TFA (and TLJ because it was like 2 days later), but by now it’s fine.

I don’t think wedging a shot of a distant TIE coming in would make it feel less busy, plus it’s quite a bit of screen time before he arrives.
We’d really need a few seconds of the characters breathing and catching their breath.
Hand waving a vat of Palpatines seems more easily done than Snokes. So at least from a practical decision making perspective it’s a net gain.
But yeah… saying TROS makes little sense is beating a dead bantha.
For the sequel trilogy I didn’t modify the credits, and I wouldn’t want to unless it could be all 3. And I don’t want to reissue TFA and TLJ further. So, if the situation arises in which I plan to do a future version of all three, I’d think about it.
Part of it had to do with the prequels already having a long line of fan edits by the time I did the ones I added credits to, whereas the sequels felt like new things.
I shudder at the idea that at least a few dozen people with no prior familiarity will listen to my commentary track for TROS:A. 😬

It seems weird for the video to skip over Adywan. I suppose The Phantom Edit and TROS: Ascendant make for a nice contrast in terms of “then and now” bookending the Star Wars saga.
I’ve gotten several requests today for links to this project, probably from that video.
Yeah, 3PO is treated like dirt in this movie by the main characters. I dunno, it just felt different coming from Han or something.
And I enjoyed the video; very fair glimpse into the world of fan editing. And of course I felt proud of what you all have put together with Ascendant as it was mentioned at the end.
Hehe, that’s pretty good. I do like the original line, though, and it culls a line from a couple scenes prior. It does fit with his self-aggrandizing personality.
That’s too bad, man. Even if it never gets finished, I sincerely hope the experience was worthwhile for you.
I’d hope that single word could be tracked, masked out, and replaced seamlessly rather than recreating the entire crawl. Each of the OT’s crawls feel unique, especially ESB.

I suppose there’s not enough time in the footage to have the trooper address 3PO before his line, but I imagine it being funnier for it to be a direct answer to a slightly irrelevant question.
Could the trooper maaaaybe be trying to talk over him for the first two seconds, as though 3PO interrupted him to say that?
The last part of this thread’s title makes me feel weird.
Written English in Star Wars would be a little off-brand.
A couple decent hints at Kijimi being a boilerplate like that would dovetail with this edit’s crawl’s opening paragraph. I forget the exact words, but flames of rebellion spreading across the galaxy and needing to merely be united.

Kijimi graffiti could be cool, to hint at the pending ‘rise’ of ‘Skywalker’ in the heart of the people, if indeed someone wishes to bring it about. Otherwise, it’s not necessary.
And a “canon” suggestion that in TLJ no one came to help because the First Order left the phone off the hook is dumb as hell. I’m really starting to not care much at all for “canon” surrounding this movie or the ST overall. Death of the “author” is best for those, it seems. (I see this as a separate concern from not going out of my way to make edits inconsistent with books-and-things-like-that to come.)
