ROTS Review by Kevin Smith... EXTREME SPOILERS!
Time
I've never read his Ep. 1 review before until now. He definately gave it a lot of credit, while still discounting some things. I think if I were him, I would have been a bit more harsh about Jar Jar, the Gungans, the underwater scene, the Nemoidians, ummm and Jake Lloyd and Natalie's acting. But I still liked the fights and underlying story in Ep. 1, so I understand that part of his review. The ranking of Ep. 1 right under Empire Strikes Back made me .

Even still, I'm going to keep a good outlook on Ep. III.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
Don't really have much to contribute to this other than saying thanks for doing it Trooperman. I dug the Mag Fan edits also(minus the backwards Spanish, but the subtitles made up for it), and I think I'll like yours even more based on what you've mentioned.

Oh, and Shroud of the Dark Side = much better title IMO, even if it's mentioned in the movie.

1980 - Re-relase Star Wars so that people can watch it before watching ESB. Add "A New Hope" to the title.
1980s/1990s - Release it in video, get some more money.
1997- Re-re-release it on theaters. Change some random stuff to justify the re-re-release. Make sure Greedo shoots first this time.
2004- Wait until the fans can't wait no more for the DVD. Change some more stuff in order to create a hype, and released it. Get some more money from it.
2006?- Release a TV show. Remember: plot matters not! Make sure Kevin Smith is as far away from the project as possible, he could accidently make it good. Good TV shows are NOT profitable, because only inteligent people watch good TV shows, and inteligent people don't go on buying everything they see on the ads.
2007?- Re-re-re-relase the OTs and the PTs in 3D. Make sure you have a pseudo-director backing up this dated, ridiculously insane idea; a director like James Cameron would be nice.

^ Best post of the thread.

I didn't grow up with the originals (I saw them when I was a kid, but they were on TV and I was too young to really get the story other than the lightsabres). That being said, I do understand why people who grew up with the originals want the right to be able to watch them without the edits.

First, most of the changes are ridiculous. Take the Greedo scene: if George was so worried about making Han look like a guy who wouldn't shoot someone to keep from getting killed, he should have filmed it that way from the get go.

This is probably the dumbest and over the top analogy I can think of, but it's like putting arms on the Statue of David. For most people, it's not that big of a deal, but I still think George should respect the fans that helped him and the story get where it is. It's not that difficult to put the originals out. It would just take some restoration from the original print and color checking. Then again, had he just done that instead of the SE edits, I don't think anyone would have an issue. I'm still fine with the SE's because that's what I'm used to, but it still would be nice to see the originals again the way they were when first released. I just don't get why he's so hardheaded about it. It's like he's embarrassed of the technology he used back then, even though it was revolutionary at the time.

BTW Italics owns me.

Favourite film out of original trilogy?
Time
See this is a hard question for me. All three have a different flavor to them.

ANH was epic and had constant movement from place to place, revealing just a dab of every aspect of the universe while showing a great story line that covered up an even greater story line to come.

ESB was dark and expanded on existing characters much more, while introducing some new ones as well. You saw that Darth Vadar was merely human instead of just a two dimensional bad guy (putting his helmet on facing from behind him, and later announcing that he was Luke's father). Lots of tragedy as well as twists and turns throughout.

ROTJ had a more lighthearted feel about it with the Ewoks and celebration at the end, but with all of the battles that took place in it (Jabba's palace, the Death Star, Luke/Vadar/Emperor fight), it definately balanced the tone.

If I were forced to pick one, I'd go with Empire Strikes Back, mainly because I like darker films. But honestly, I still like the other two just as much.

Seen Jake Lloyd recently??? Ewwww!
Time
Interesting take Bossk. I've always just chalked it up to Jake's age at the time being responsible for his speaking lines. I think it would be hilarious to see George directing him on how to say a line, and him saying "Look George, this is preposterous. I maybe a young boy in this movie, but I'm still frickin Vadar! I don't need to be so wish washy on my lines" (imagine him talking like an older british guy too ).

What's Life as a House? I didn't even know Hayden did anything aside from SW. Is it any good? I wouldn't mind checking out his other acting jobs for comparison.

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)
Time
Hey guys, I'll be getting the discs soon and can send copies out then, so if you haven't heard from anyone else offering to do so, there's another way you can get a copy of them just for now. Go to www.myspleen.com, create an account, make sure you have a torrent program (there's a good tutorial on there for getting bittorrent programs) and do a search for Magnolia Fan. I'll post up once I have my copies for anyone that needs one then.

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)

Hi everyone.

I'm new to the forums, but before coming here I had heard rumors of remakes for the prequels. It's really nice to see that not only is it true, but that people consider them so much better than the original movies. Much thanks to Magnolia Fan for backing up everyone's critiques and actually making them better.

I've just finished reading this whole thread, and I've got to get a copy of these DVDs. Rikter, I've checked out your website, and was wanting to know if you were still sending out copies. I'd very much like to check out MF's BotF with Digital Man's subs, and MF's TCW. I've turned my pm's on as well.
