Here is a vision sequence I’ve been working on. This happens during the brief Rey vs. Dark Rey duel. It’s meant to further show the pull of the Dark Side on Rey as she sees that succumbing to the Dark Side can enable her to defeat her enemies. I thought I’d share it here in case anyone has suggestions for improvement, alternate clips, etc. Thanks to RogueLeader for the idea.

I don’t remember actually seeing Rey in the throne in the theatrical cut - is that footage from somewhere else?
My only real suggestion is to make the clips of the First Order’s defeat more brief - the star destroyer crashing is quite a long shot, and I think it works better for quick flashes in the vision.

I would actually exclude anything that spoils the end of the movie myself.
I was afraid some of those shots might be a tad long.
The Rey on the throne clip is from Rey’s vision near the beginning of the film while she is training on Ajan Kloss. It’s only a few frames, so I ran it half speed here to give it a little more emphasis.
As far as spoilers go, my edit removes Palpatine so this would be the only instance of Force lightning in the entire film. The only thing being spoiled is the destruction of a Star Destroyer, I think.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is there anywhere I can get a version of the original TROS cut in the highest quality possible but with the LUT used in Hal’s Ascendant edit applied to it for editing purposes? If anyone could DM me or point me in the direction of something like this that would be much appreciated.

I measured it at one point. She’s on the throne for exactly 8 frames in the theatrical cut. They really did hinge the entire climax of the Sequel Trilogy on one-third of a second of footage.

On second thought that might be a little too short for the Sith eyes to show up in. Never realized much of a blink and you’ll miss it thing that milky eyes shot is.
Maybe we should end up using it in both shots after all (documentary and theatrical shots).

I actually did blink and miss that shot the first two times I saw the movie. Might have had an effect on my opinion.

Here’s a thought, what if rather than the yellow Sith eyes, dark side Rey had those blind zombie eyes like Palpatine? Similarly to the way we see her in that two frame vision she has.

That’s one thing I think we all kinda forgot about. Was it Chase that did the work there? I thought his first version worked fine enough, but he said he was going to make an improved one so we just kinda dropped it ever since.

Oh I wasn’t aware that particular statue appeared elsewhere! My bad.
I was under the impression that you can’t see the statues’ faces when he reaches the bottom. But it has been a while since I watched the movie.
I mentioned it in Hal’s thread. When Kylo is faced against the Knights of Ren, in hals cut they call him a traitor I believe, but Kylo turns to look behind him towards the second group of knights, if whomever voiced the Knights of Ren could record them shouting the line “You’re too late, Solo” or “Give it up, Solo”.
It makes the name solo sound like an insult and a swear.
You could check out what the thread dedicated to that came up with, Creation. I know there were a ton of lines and options that Hal didn’t end up going with.
I’m interested in that as well, so I may search at some point as well.
If anyone could help me with a couple of elements, I would greatly appreciate it.
One is to add a Force glow around Leia in the shot where she calls out to Ben (at about 5 seconds in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkOGPyTkLmc&ab_channel=JapTakito)
The others are dialogue editing. If anyone is good at working audio magic with dialogue, let me know. I have a couple of spliced lines I would like to have done better.

At this point, Leia is already dead in my edit, so a Force glow would help emphasize that we are seeing Kylo seeing her through the Force rather than an actual cut back to the Resistance base.

I agree. Also find it hard to believe that more overtly romantic scenes were recorded between Rey and Kylo in TLJ which were removed.
There’s no way the “Abrams cut” would be so drastically different from what we got. What he describes is almost an entirely different movie. At the most, what JediPaxis described in his initial leaks is probably the closest thing to an alternate cut of this film that could potentially exist in some kind of assembly form.
So with that in mind, it kind of nullifies the rest of what this guy says. Sounds like he’s just trying to set up some Snyder cut narrative.

/r/StarWarsSpeculation is not the place for posting leaks. /r/StarWarsLeaks is better… but the mods actually verify the credibility of leaks. Any Star Wars leak that doesn’t go through that subreddit is untrue in my book, even though this one doesn’t seem particularly bad. Although like you said, there’s a few things that don’t really add up. Not just with TRoS, though. Another thing I don’t really believe is that JJ wanted to walk when George did… was JJ even hired yet?
The differences of the plot details given to JediPaxis and the plot of the final movie also seem like post-production editing, not different drafts of TRoS.
