Why does it matter to you even if they were sexless? What’s wrong with that?

LOL!😂 If you can’t see what is wrong with that I got nothing to say to you bro

There isn’t actually anything inherently wrong with it. Ideally people get married and start families but if you’re all “dude just get laid bro lol” that’s your own modern perspective talking

First of all, you seem to have provided no actual argument against it. You also didn’t respond to the part I referred to about Lucas.

Second, you didn’t reply to anything else.

I’m not going to pretend the Prequel Trilogy didn’t rely too heavily on CGI or that there weren’t some pretty obvious misses in that department. We all agree on that point.

But honestly, this thread feels like it was designed just to slowly post every single frame from the trilogy one by one, nitpick something in each of them, keep going until there are no frames left, and then say, “See? We checked every frame and none of them are good. That proves that the Prequels suck.”

I genuinely don’t see what the point of this thread is supposed to be beyond that.

This is what I was saying before. This thread is a lot like these 12 hour long video essays which just list off tons and tons and tons of nitpicks without ever saying anything actually insightful about these movies. Even beyond just whether or not I agree or disagree with the point the thread is trying to make (whatever that is), compare it with Empire Wrecker’s “Why does Attack of the Clones look like a video game” video, which Jason cites in this thread. It has a lot to say about what was happening behind the scenes during the production of this movie, and isn’t just a big long list of snafus. The examples he does give provide holistic insight into what makes the movie feel the way it does, and are more often representative of problems throughout the whole movie. It isn’t just Obi-Wan’s lightsaber being color graded darker than it should be in one shot.

Even if you have an EFAP/CinemaSins level engagement in the media you consume, and the raw number of “sins” in a movie makes it worse, what makes seeing the Wampa puppeteer’s arm in ESB charming, the disappearing dagger in TLJ a hit below the belt, the crew member in jeans in Mando funny, but Padmé’s cable in TPM a “sin”?

Not to mention, like all of Jason’s tomes, this thread is full of QC errors of its own.

Most entries in this thread, especially from Revenge of the Sith, aren’t actually poor quality CG, or even a movie mistake or QC problem. Like the scene where Anakin just landed on Coruscant, or the opening long take. There’s nothing actually wrong with these scenes, and the latter features a pretty appropriate usage of CGI, even if I think the scene is very overrated. Tons of examples just vaguely gesture at the effect “looking like a video game”, which captures a true feeling for most of the prequels, even if they really don’t look like video games from 2026 let alone the 2000s. But… what about it specifically makes it look like a video game? Even if we’re just cataloguing shots and not trying to analyze them deeply, it’s unclear why many of these belong here.

You could call it padding for quantity over quality, but it seems more like Jason was flipping through some youtube video, saw a shot like this…

^ No, again, the above image is not from one of the video game tie-ins… or animated series - but from the film itself.

…and just makes a connection to this thread, saying…

This seems to be a theme, because it’s present in the Time Traveling revisionist thread. It’s full of bad sources, incorrect information, and tons of examples that have little to do with the supposed point of the thread. When this has been pointed out, rather than remove it or update the thread, he’s tended to double down.

It’s a small Star Wars fan editing site where the majority of its existence was about fixing the prequels, with attention to detail. It existed long before huge youtube video essays. This is a repository of evidence proving a point, the over-reliance on CG effects and the rushed nature of the movies.

Hey, at least he’s not spamming us with his roughly six or seven sock accounts anymore!

Anybody want to pick apart the time-traveling revisionist thread?

I remember, I’m just not really convinced. This isn’t a constructive or fanedit-focused thread, so I don’t really see how it’s relevant that this site used to make prequel fix-it fanedits. It’s an argumentative thread, and it’s not very good at making its argument. I’m aware this website is older than huge youtube video essays, this thread isn’t though. Even if it was, I think it’s apt to compare the way it tries to make its argument, by sheer volume.

If this was just a hate thread I’d respect it more for being more honest, like the threads for shitty dialog on this forum. But it is trying to make a deeper point, and introduces itself as trying to set the record straight after ILM focused on the prequels’ part in the development of film making technology and not enough on how shitty the prequels are. Which is totally insane, by the way.

Thank you, Vladius. 👍

Also, the ‘Introduction’ in the OP of this thread, and the link in to the ‘mini-review’ of the ILM S2 documentary, do state the ‘two-fold’ reasons why I put this thread together…

Also overlooked / omitted are the limitations or poor quality use of CGI in the Prequel Films themselves (+ lack of QC) - despite the doc more than willing to spend some time highlighting and underlining the limitations of practical effects around that era.

^ Edit: I created a thread - Poor quality CGI and CGI-affected shots & scenes in the Prequel Trilogy films… on this issue.

(there was a great old image-thread on here re PT CGI issues - though can’t find it anymore - so have created this centralised new one)

Something the recent Season 2 ‘Light & Magic’ documentary never seemed to mention… was the poor quality CGI throughout the Prequel Trilogy films - along with the reasons for that. This was quite a jarring omittance by ILM / Lucasfilm - and very much in contrast to their highlighting and underscoring of the limitations practical effects (and the supposed end of practical effects) when CGI was starting to really take off at the turn of the century - as covered in Season 1 of their Light & Magic doc.

So, this is an attempt to demonstrate / highlight some of the issue-laden CGI scenes throughout the Prequels… and examine also why this likely occurred - all in one updated centralised thread (I just cannot locate the old image thread that attempted this).

There used to be a great image thread from back in the day on here re PT CGI issues - though I can’t find it anymore - plus many of the image links have very likely broken over time (photobucket and other older defunct image sites) - hence this new ‘centralised’ thread.

Hopefully over time this may well become ‘a repository of evidence’ (and replace the old 2004-2006?(?) PT CGI image thread/posts I just cannot locate) - yet at the moment, for me, it is really a small collection of examples that stood out to me (plus why)… and now also from other members’ contributions on here (plus their reasoning), as well. Though if it is of use to others, or members looking at it that way (as a ‘repository of evidence’), or any other - like timdiggerm posted here, then… that’s great - nice one! 👍

Although I don’t want to confuse anyone thinking it is more than that - in this is by no means a ‘definitive / comprehensive list’…

The above 15 examples for each of the 3 PT films are my own personal take on some of the many scenes that stood out to me. It is by no means a ‘definitive list’ or even a ‘comprehensive list’ of substandard / noticeably poor CGI issues in the Prequels.

Everyone’s mileage may very much vary on just what constitutes poorly executed/affected CGI in the Prequel Trilogy films.

If some people don’t like this thread then… so be it. As stated in here before… there are many other threads on here to enjoy (or ignore). I’ve already answered some queries / issues (with info already posted in the OPs)… though if some people still have problems with this thread… then they’re free to start their own better / more-suited-to-their-own-tastes thread. Life is too short to go around in circles with those wilfully spending time in the weeds of something they obviously do not like. ¯|_ (ツ) _/¯

Plus, a number of other members seemingly enjoy this thread and / or have contributed to it - with thanks to everyone who has done so - it is very much appreciated. Obviously, my focus is with those who have something to add to the content & discussion.

Anyway, I’ve rabbited on for long enough and then some! To get back on topic…

If anyone has more examples of CGI issues / CGI-affected scenes from the Prequel Trilogy - and/or reasons or beliefs as to why there were seemingly so many CGI issues throughout the PT films (overuse of / overworked effects teams / not enough time / lack of Quality Control / or combinations of the aforementioned, and any other reasons etc)… please post them up in here. Thanks. 😃

…more than a relatively important scene from a theatrical film. I’m not sure if it is an unfinished scene for time - or was simply deemed good enough to pass Quality Control etc?.

Following on from ‘1. Commander Coady head wobbling CGI’ shot listing for Episode III: ROTS - the following scene is something I’d forgot about until Master posted about it on TSWT Discord…

If you’re on TSWT Discord then you’ll see many more of Master’s numerous screenshot/gif entries for issues with CGI-affected shots / scenes in the Prequel films - far more than I remember/could add in here. All credit & kudos to him. If you’re into that - then enjoy. 👍

^ a screenshot posted by Master - from Revenge Of The Sith; though resembles content more akin from one of the animated series, IMHO.
