Interesting! I didn’t know that they were releasing anything on beta by that point! Is there a reason they chose to release these specifically in Mexico at the time?
^ posted with kind permission by Unrealmadness on TSWT…

^ the above images are not from the actual set preserved itself - but from another 1995 OT Beta set (posted here for illustration).
I think this is the first complete Betamax preservation project online for the Original Trilogy that I’ve seen in years - possibly the first full set I’ve ever seen… so all credit and kudos to Unrealmadness for undertaking such a project - and also making it available to everyone. 👍
Star Wars: 2.19gb - an mkv file.
Empire Strikes Back: 2.25gb - an mkv file.
Return Of The Jedi: 2.38gb - an mmkv file.
^ Audio for all 3 OT films is in English - with Mexican-Spanish subtitles.
Although the video below is not a box set release - it does contain relevant info for the 3 OT films being released on Beta in 1995…

‘From the Star Wars Home Video Library #390: 1995 Mexican Beta Original Trilogy’ (with the John Alvin artwork):-

I think this 1995 OT box set also saw a release in South America around the same time, too. More info here - ‘box set’ releases.
Betamax was still popular in central / South America - and also in South East Asia, as well.
Even in the US, the last movie release on Betamax was Mission impossible III - in 1996 (with images of the Betamax box).
Though it is possible that more localised Betamax releases were still taking place after that - in certain parts of the world?
Sony only stopped making Betamax recorders in 2002 - and finally stopped making blank Betamax cassettes in 2016.
Though hopefully one of the South American members on here can be of more help with the last movie / tv releases on Beta in that region etc…
