Having Qui-Gon go against the Jedi Code, be gay, and have an affair with Darth Maul is all certainly possible, but somehow it just feels like several bridges to far for me.

😆 Okay, that’s going in my signature.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:

I’ll just continue spitballing ideas here:

Qui-Gon sacrifices himself to defeat Maul. Show him push a button on Maul’s wrist the moment he gets stabbed, that activates the ray-shield, so that Obi-Wan can take a free hit on Maul, either killing him instantly or gaining a winning advantage.

Or let Obi-Wan take the other half of Maul’s lightsaber to cut him in half. Him using a red blade to take revenge would be a great detail and pretty easy to do. Just change the color of the blade and replace the close up of qui-Gons saber.

Use some material from the Gungan battle for a prologue.
Have the Droid army go against the Gungan before the movie starts and introduce Jar Jar as a leader type of character, who ran away. Make Him Boss Ness’ son maybe, to explain why he was in this position in the first place. He would now not be a baffoon, but a coward, who wants to redeem himself. So he chooses to guide Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to the Gungan, without hesitation and chooses to take the dangerous path through the core to save time. This would build up to the moment he convinces Amidala to go back and fight.

This may be the best comment on this website.

Great ideas, Peter Pan! I’m especially a fan of the third one. It recontextualizes Jar Jar in an interesting way without needing to change his character at all. You could make the battle the opening scene right after the crawl.

Really don’t like the first though. Maul having a button for the shield generators on his wrist is dumb on several levels, as it Qui-Gon sacrificing himself to deactivate it some Obi-Wan can kill Maul instead of just killing him himself.

Make one of Maul’s blades blue and let him use the blue blade in his first fight with Qui-Gon on Tatooine. This way it is left ambiguous whether he is just a dark jedi or whether the Sith really are back.

I like the red saber idea. I’ve considered Obi Wan using the force to propel a saber to cut Maul in half, then jumping up after Maul’s halves tumble past him.

Replace the holographic tables from the war rooms in AotC (Geonosis) and RotS (Jedi Temple) with 2D ones like the one used in ANH for the Battle of Yavin.

I think some of Bobas flashbacks could be repurposed to make a vision of Shmi getting captured.
I am still figuring what shots to keep and what other shots might be required to sell the idea.
Maybe some close-ups of Shmi’s face or some completely different shots involving Sidious, Dooku, Padme to expand upon the basic vision of Shmi being in danger.

Holy cow, I have never seen shattered glass, but watching those 3 videos with Hayden’s lines I felt like watching Tommy Wiseau…

Shattered Glass is really good and Hayden’s character is honestly supposed to be kind of off, if that makes any sense.

You guys see any potential uses for this? There’s also some additional deleted shots in the making of video including with a Jedi who’s a Sequel alien, which would tie things together nicely. I think that shot of Anakin in the Jedi Temple, which as the making of video points out is based on a deleted RotS shot could act as a replacement for the youngling massacre.

I think that’s a good idea. Anything that can help remove the “Anakin killing kids” thing is good in my book.

Well there’s always the approach of Palpatine killing kids, which is the route I’m taking. He ignites his saber then makes a sinister smile.

I wonder when adywan will be revealing the plan that he had outlined for PT:R?

Some of the things that I heard about were instead of C-3PO being built by Anakin, he was going to start as a protocol droid for the Queen, the duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin on Mustafar was going to take place in AOTC, and Obi-Wan was going to have two apprentices.

I still have no idea how Adywan was going to do ANY of this.

For me, C-3PO being a protocol droid for the Queen was always what should have been in the prequels. Makes much more sense, since Padmé is a queen/senator, and an authority like her would need a protocol droid to communicate with other species around the galaxy.

If I remember correctly, he also said some of the following things (if that can help you):
-Yoda would be a puppet
-All the Jedi would have blue lightsabers
-Windu fights Palpatine alone
-Darth Vader (with the armor) leads the army to the Jedi temple, not Anakin
-Padme survives Episodes III

I wonder a) how he intended to achieve some of these changes, and b) if that’s why he decided not to work on them?

Full disclosure, I’ve never actually seen his OT edits. They’re on my “to watch” list though.

I can’t stress this enough, but someone should look into voice dubbing for a PT fan edit. Adywan was going to attempt this for PT:R to help change the story. This was one of the things I remember that I was looking forward to about it.

With fan edits like The Blackened Mantle, it was also one of the things that made it a game changer.

I’ve been looking into this myself for a ST fan edit

I think there is a way to tie Anakin not being permitted to see his mother and him becoming a Jedi Knight.
Adding a line to the balcony scene where he tells Obi about his dreams might be enough to establish that he must first pass the trials before he can go see her. With this change all of the complaining about Obi not letting him move on would be understandable and it would immensely benefit ROTS.
This would explain his strong fixation with becoming a Jedi Master and his frustration with the Jedi. Because now the situation with Padme would not just be exactly the same as with Shmi, as it is in the movie.
No now the Jedi are also to blame for not letting Anakin help his mother and are denying him their help again, by not making him a Jedi Master.

Also this might help explain why the Jedi or anybody never helped Shmi, though that remains a gigantic plot convenience, especially if I look at Padme: “Slavery is outlawed in the republic. But I, THE QUEEN OF AN ENTIRE PLANET, won’t help the mother of the boy who saved said planet.”
That’s some real gratitude right there…

I always thought the fact that she was freed and married Cliegg Lars ought to be really easy to credit the Jedi for with a few changes. This obviously includes cutting the Watto scene (which a lot of people say is racist anyway).
