Uploading the full 1080p version now, ETA for the other three versions is sometime tonight. (If the kids can get to bed WELL, I should have time to get the other three buttoned up and distributed ahead of tomorrow.)

I could dive in and make my seedbox available via resilio or torrent, if there is a demand for that.

That’d certainly be helpful. All the torrents for past and present projects are on the Drive and will be added as they become extant.

Also, anyone wanting links, please PM me directly rather than posting here.

I’ve been DMing Hal regarding mirror links in my own section of the secret place as well. Hopefully those should be up within a few hours of his initial upload completing. With luck, this’ll help offset demand a bit.

However, I won’t give out the method for obtaining links since this is his release, not mine. I’ll be sharing them directly with him, and he can choose how to share them with the rest of you.

With a little bit of luck, you’ll all be able to see this in time for Christmas.

Worse come to worst, you could still stream the TinyEncode version via Google Drive. But yes, absolutely hoping to give anyone who desires the chance to watch on Christmas Day.

Loaded the blu-ray torrent in my seedbox, so when you‘re ready the box will do it’s magic (dl should be fast because 10 gbps)

Absolutely amazing news! As so many others in here the feeling of excitement for Star Wars is back!

Will love to share this version with my kids. It has been a treat to follow this thread from the sidelines, it has surely had its ups and downs, but every time a new idea was fleshed out and realized, seeing the community come together for this, has truly been wonderful.

Thank you to everyone. Cannot wait 😊

V1 was one of the most amazing fanedits I’ve ever seen so I can’t even imagine how much I’m going to enjoy V2. Thank you for this, Hal9000.

Hate to ruin the party… but “a thousand generations live in you now” is still in V2 even though it is in the cutlist.

Oh shoot, does that mean the whole film has to be re-rendered?

Honestly, I like the way how it is. I prefer the line, "You’ll take both sabers to Exegol to be the line that’s removed. It plays out much better this way: “A thousand generations live in you now. We’ll always be with you… but this is your fight.”

My vote would also go towards leaving it as is. When I previewed the scene, I didn’t even remember whether it was supposed to be kept or removed, and I think the line works when taken in context of the whole film. Not to mention it was an iconic line from the teaser.

But if Hal wants to re-render the whole thing and restart distro all over again, that’s his choice. It is what it is, I suppose.

I thought this was how the line was supposed to be changed, wasn’t it? I found it weird reading the OP as I remember it was the “take both sabers” line that was being cut, not “a thousand generations”.

So the saber line was removed in V2? Honestly, I remember there was a lot of discussion about this scene, but I don’t remember what the final decision was. Maybe this is the version that was voted on, and the documentation just needs to be changed?

As ever, it depends on what Hal wants in the film.

Really the only thing that needs to be changed is just the change description in the OP list.

On a similar note there were a couple of other small mistakes I found in the OP:

  • It states it removed the mention of Leia sensing “the birth of her son”, but the line that was removed was “the death of her son”.
  • For the flickering lights on Rey’s saber, it says it was changed “from blue and green to purple and green”, but the change was actually from blue and green to blue and purple.

I was probably fatigued while typing this all up, and it was late at night. Hopefully it’s not too confusing, and I can update it for the listings, if not for the torrent-able released versions’ text files.

To be clear: none of those are mistakes in the edit, just mental flubs in the writeup.

So, I’m going to get real sappy here real quick, but…

As someone who has followed this thread for a while (and in the grand scheme of things, joined in on the fun fairly recently), I just want to say how proud I am of Hal and the rest of you guys for creating this wonder of a fan edit and doing the impossible in a lot of ways in making this film a much better experience. That in itself is the true power of fan editing: taking a film that is broken or misaligned or just an absolute mess and making it whole again through the power of determination, skill and (above all else) love.

Anyways, if this was a bar, I would buy you all a round of drinks for a job well done (barring anyone who’s underage IRL of course). But, yeah… Well done everybody!

Absolutely seconded. I usually think of fanedits as “alternative” versions of movies, rather than “fixed” versions, but this is definitely a fixed version and everyone’s rallied together as a community to make it happen. Star Wars fans get a bad rap, often for a good reason, but there’s a flipside to it, and that’s places like this. Positivity and hard work, people brought together by mutual creativity.

Cheers to the release of V2!

Hopefully everyone can have a much deserved break and throw on a substantially better version of TROS this Christmas with the family!

Hal, your work is amazing as always. Thanks for saving Star Wars once again.

You know, I’m pretty burned out on this movie, I’m still heartbroken over how it leaves the universe with a whole load of nothing, but I hope everybody who worked on this feels accomplished, because this thing you all have created from TROS is definitely a grand accomplishment and I’m so glad to have witnessed it happening real time 😃
