In the Redux ideas thread, amobex showed some clips they’ve edited. I really like the line change in the second one - “You’re his granddaughter,” instead of “You’re a Palpatine.” As Sade says in the thread, it sounds less like a forum speculation thread and more like how an actual human being speaks.

Actually I believe amobex merged “you are a Palpatine” and “you’re his grandaughter” into “you are his grandaughter”. It’s a small difference but I think it sounds pretty good and actually adds back a bit more punch since “you are a Palpatine” was originally the big reveal.

I’m pretty sure Hal’s already stated that after V2 and a potential Rey Nobody version, he’s done.
I don’t have much time or headspace to delve into this one, and probably wouldn’t really spark much, so I’m dedicated to putting out my regular TROS edit and then plugging in whatever consensus or best approach emerges from this discussion.

One tiny thing I remember from v1 is that in the added shot of Ochies ship leaving Passana, the pacing between them running to the ship, cutting to kylo, then cutting back to the ship already flying seemed slightly awkward/rushed to me. I was wondering if maybe some of that BTS footage posted a while back could be used to smooth out that part a bit more? I recall there being some really good and longer shots of kylo walking/looking up in there.
Doctoring the line “You… are his granddaughter” sounds good but in practice I don’t think the footage is there to make it work as well as it’d need to. Kylo delivers the “Palptine” line offscreen and what we do see doesn’t match.

It’s all good. I appreciate the advocacy but if Hal tried it and it’s not right for Ascendant then no worries. If you have any other thoughts or feedback about some of my edits I’d love to hear about it in the ideas redux thread!

Nothing wrong per se, it just has to cut to Rey what feels prematurely and then back to Kylo again. Audio-wise, it’s perfect.
