It might sound better in the actual scene but as of right now I’m not sure about the line tbh. Wish I had access to my software rn.

I’m the same way. Speaking of AI did say that it might be best to get a voice actor who can impersonate Driver instead.

Yeah that video I sent has an impression of both him and Palps. Sounds pretty good, I might add.

EDIT: Managed to install software on my laptop here and yeah… the audio just doesn’t work. Adam says, “what could you give me?” with a pretty deep voice, so it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I did watch JXEditor’s attempt, and I thought the impression used was very hard to hear, as it only came through my left rear channel.

I could try putting together a little sample to see if it works. I also might try recording the line myself, as I do have a deep voice and can do a pretty good job at a Kylo Ren impression.

That’s cool that he could generate that for us, but I agree the whole enterprise of AI voices would be an uphill battle and unlikely to feature here.

I’ll still try out a sample for test screening. It’s okay if it doesn’t make it into V2 of Ascendant. Would you like to at least add it to the Drive folder, Hal?

Also, if this does gets used, even though it seems unlikely as of now, I think you should credit Speaking of AI, as I let him know that I’d try to get him a Special Thanks credit.

I just hope the AI modelling works out to some degree in the end. 🤞

How are we on the Mustafar intro? Last I recall Neverar was addressing the potential suitability of the Biomes short, though there was some question about the speed of the pan and whether it would work in practice as well as we would hope.

Barring future input, here’s where it remains at present, which I’ve never been anything other than happy with: https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/529875645

I went ahead and updated the OP with more current info. Here’s my thoughts and questions about what remains that is needed for V2, with an eye on what is truly required to complete it. I’d like to have it out in time for the film’s second anniversary, though ultimately it will just be finished when it’s finished.

  • Mustafar minute, mentioned in the post above this one.

  • The Youngling voiceover. CaptainFaraday was working on incorporating it into the mix, which in this case is trickier than it sounds. Absolute worst case, it is included but almost too subtle to notice, since it’s too cool to pass up.

  • Jonh only comes around once in a blue moon, and there are two things needed from him: the updated and improved ghost quartet footage and fixing some of the glitches as he gave Luke a haircut on Ach-To.

  • Cracked saber FX. I super hope I’m wrong, but it looks like MoviesRemastered may have left for good. If so, this will increase work for Luka Frik. The first part of the movie still needs this effect: the training scene, underground on Pasaana, Rey vs. TIE, and meeting Zorri. This is very time-consuming work, so it may be some time before it’s completed. If Luka could chime in, I’d appreciate his perspective here.

  • Removing Rey’s milky eyes during a brief shot during her vision sequence. I think Neverar said he would likely tackle this at some point. Not essential, though, so it could safely be omitted.

That’s it! There are a couple other things, such as the sabers fizzling out, that I would need from others and that I would include if I ever do but I’m okay with excluding if not.

Re: the Jedi voices scene, I really just need one day to dedicate to it and I reckon I’d have it done. With my current work and family schedule, I don’t see that happening any time soon, so, with the view to releasing V2 in time for the film’s second anniversary, I’ll see what I can do in terms of chipping away at it gradually in the odd spare moment. Of course if anyone else wants to have a go, send me a PM and I’ll happily share all the files I have with you!

Where did you hear MoviesRemastered may be gone for good? 😧

It’s amazing, you should totally include it in V2! 😃

^ MR appeared not to take it well when I hushed him about raising a sensitive subject about a now-banned member and expressed something to the effect of walking away, either temporarily or permanently.

Sort of an unintended parting gift from that other member, in effect. It sucks, and I hope he returns, but I don’t want to stall things indefinitely and would like to see V2 get finished sooner rather than later.

MR has been online recently every time I’ve checked the members tab (today included). So he’s likely reading these posts.

What exactly did he say? 🤨

Thanks for the update Hal on the state of things. So it’s simple, we just need to make Faraday work all night, since sleep is over rated. Also, just hunt down Jonh and convince him actual work, providing for family, etc. is obviously less important than clipping Luke’s hair. Oh, and Nev to work. My goodness! /S

(Of course joking, I just wish I had the tools and the know how to do anything.)

Read through the past pages if you’re interested, it wasn’t too long ago. For his sake I don’t think we need to keep dwelling on this.

Don’t forget the saber shots! Though if it’s just the beginning of the film that is incomplete maybe the effect could be faded in throughout the film to imply a physical degradation of the crystal as well as a mirror of Rey’s struggle?

BTW, I vow to the best of my ability not to singlehandedly hold up the project - if it’s good to go apart from my last shots I’ll push them to the top of the list. 😉

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Huh, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen this version of the opening! It looks pretty good (although I do think having a version with the Biomes shot for editors would be good since it would be such a waste to not use that gorgeous footage).

Also, I also want to state that I hope MR isn’t permanently avoiding this thread and that I hope he comes back soon. Glimmer of hope but I know he had computer problems around the time of his exodus and that he couldn’t even really work on his own edit let alone the stuff for this one. Maybe when it’s fixed, bad feelings will have cooled down and he could come back to this thread.

I think if the Biomes shot were to be included, a lot of color grading and VFX to change the landscape would have to be done since the Mustafar atmosphere in Biomes is based on Rogue One, not The Rise of Skywalker.
