I would have killed to see a Duel of the fates style fight between a young rejuvenated Palpatine and Rey/Ben.

But I won’t put it past the fans to eventually create such a scenario down the line 😉

It was his “true form” in Ep3 because he was no longer masking himself. He was born a human and looked like a regular guy.

And all the new canon stuff with green cloning liquid will be based on the idea that it’s what Snoke grew out of. The red cylinders we see in TROS:A are for Palpatine’s clones, which might not be the same thing. Snoke could still have been elsewhere in a green vat if future canon demands it of your headcanon and TROS:A won’t contradict it.

At least with TROS:A you could probably assume there was a single Snoke being that was created.

There’s a handful of things in TROS:A, especially V2, that merely removes obstacles from nerdy headcanon being brought to bear.

For Hal stuff, let the movies connect with one another and not worry about some kind of tweet, comic or book or some kind of other crappy thing. Let the movies be their own things, let them connect with one another. Because, even if you are a fan and enjoy the “Disney” canon, it has plenty of problems … so lets not worry about making sure it “connects” with their “corrections.”

On that note… Weren’t the cloning pods in ATOC like a really light blue?

The new hard drive had a few issues trying to restore from my backup so I suspect there is a certain degree of file corruption. But I’m restoring from the oldest backup point I have from 2 weeks ago and no issues yet. It seems like it’ll take quite a while to copy everything back over.

I’d really like to buy a second backup drive sometime and swap it out once every 3 months and store the one not plugged in at another location.

I don’t see why. Finn still addresses R2 by name later in the scene.

Daisy Ridley did not play Rey in that, despite Helen Sadler being a very good sound-a-like.

Sounds like good news. If it sounds similar enough in context that’s cool. Would still have an air of authenticity to it.

I honestly think it works fine despite being a soundalike - I didn’t realise it wasn’t Daisy Ridley until I saw the end credits.

Still, I’ll put together a rough cut (when I get the chance) even though I don’t have the voice isolated from the background music, just as a test. I’ll need someone to send me the current version of the Rey Vs Palpatine scene, though.

I think I found a 5.1 source for the LEGO special. I’ll try experimenting with it - we do only need a couple of syllables, after all.

@Dominic, I suppose these things are pretty subjective - I’ve been on the other side of this with a lot of the AI voice things.

Having the same accent as Daisy, I think the sound-a-like was annoying to the point I struggled getting through the holiday special. In the most part the new girl sounded like a dumb parody of Rey as the pronunciation to some words were so exaggerated and unnatural, imo.

Having said that, it much be extremely difficult to master an accent and then deliver dialogue in the same awful clunky way the original actor did.

Speaking off… the battlefront 2 lines wouldn’t be a good research? It was daisy ridley herself that did the lines as far as i know, possibly something can be used.
