Star Wars Episode III: Labyrinth Of Evil (Released) — Page 44

You (probably?) have the current version; that description wasn’t meant to be an exact quote. I re-recorded the lines for V2 or V3 but the wording remained the same, I believe.

And my prequel edits take a deliberate approach not to alter their “prequel” nature, as those three films read that way naturally. They aren’t any better or worse than the theatricals in terms of viewing them chronologically versus in release order. Plus, what happens with the twins is already less clear that ideal given the footage available to work with the “Padme lives” idea, so I wouldn’t want to muddle it further.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Hmmm, I see.

I personally think the less clear than ideal role of the twins actually makes for a more compelling loose end to be tied up later, whether Padme survives or not. But I understand its not your approach.

The medical prognosis as it currently is, however, does make an avoidable confusion for the “Padmé lives” ending, just because the droid clearly states that her survival is at stake and a moment later we see her settled in Alderaan. It would be strange that her sustained injuries or her profound sadness had not killed her in days after giving birth, as implied by the droid and the original ending, rather than the longer amount of time she is given to spend with Leia enough for her daughter to remember her. If the implication, however, is that Padmé indeed perishes in Alderaan soon after the twins delivery, Leia is still too young to remember her mother and the change might be somewhat redundant.

So even if you show Padmé alive, the medical prognosis is just not consistent with her survival. If the droid lines were exactly how you phrased them yourself in your cutlist, however, it would work like a charm.

I would love there to be a custom Blu-Ray version with menus and seamless branching between the two cuts.

V7 is available now … need to get that!

Any chance you can move the alternative versions into their own folders instead of just one? Drive is being a pain and the whole folder won’t zip.

Btw, Merry Christmas!

Got ahold of the default version! The alternate ending has exceeded its quota 😕

JEDIT: NO!!! The download just failed and the quota is now exceeded!!

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Any perspective on MalaStrana’s alternate audio for V7? I unfortunately deleted my V6 which had it and didn’t even remember, so I’m in the hands of fate.

Probably a little too late now that V7 has been released, but I just remembered it so what the hell…

In the previous version of LOE (not sure if it’s been fixed yet though) right after Palpy says the line “one far younger and more powerful” and it fades to Anakin’s nightmare, for about 1 frame you can see a Coruscant building as a remnant of the theatrical transition.

Well sheeeeeit. You’re right that it’s too late, so that’ll have to be. There’ll always be things like that to find. All the same, good to point it out.

Well … erm … the obvious response to that is “The dark side of the force is a pathway …”

I’m glad you reminded me of that, as I need to let him know about this. As of yet there hasn’t been an update to it.

I have finished updating it and exporting to ac3 640kbps. I’m adjusting the subtitles and I then upload everything on Mega. Should be done by tomorrow.

So long 🙌

Hey Hal, I know I’m a few weeks late to these updates, but if you were interested and it’s not too late, I thought I’d throw in a small addition for your consideration:

Back in May, user sade1212 posted a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it transformation animation for Palpatine in the Prequel Radical Ideas thread. You can see the clip here, although they may have a newer version available elsewhere: https://streamable.com/yll8kr (approx 10 seconds in)

This has stuck with me since I saw it and I feel it could really add a nice bit of theatrical polish to your take on Palpatine’s transformation in LoE, if you’re editing it again anyway. sade1212 appears to still be active if you’d want to contact them about the clip.

I remember seeing that a while ago and had forgotten about it. While I like it, I’m not going to rerelease to include it unless anything else comes to light to merit it.

I’m afraid I haven’t touched that effect since May, so there’s no better version. After the Obi-Wan series comes out, I’m sure my desire to edit ROTS will once again stir, so perhaps then I’ll get back to it.

It looked pretty good as is to me! It goes by so fast anyway, it’s just a nice little detail to make the viewer realize that what’s happening is a transformation. They might catch a glimpse, go “wait what?” then see his full image come out of the dark for “unlimited powaaah!”

Thanks to Snooker and Sir Ridley, removed R2 and 3PO from the birth of the twins. This eases continuity tensions with the original trilogy, avoiding awkward questions like, “Shouldn’t R2 have recognized Yoda on Dagobah?”

Well, Yoda went to Dagobah with R2 while he’s on an adventure in a Clone Wars arc. R2 did recognized Yoda.

What was the reason to cut Grievous’ line “I’ve been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku”? (Sorry if this has been discussed long ago, I had a look but couldn’t see it.)

I always thought that was a great line - it reminds me of Lao Che in Temple of Doom telling a very confident Indiana Jones “…to the poison you just drank!” and watching him have this “oh shit” moment.

Obi-Wan has dropped down to take Grievous by surprise, quipping and joking because he thinks he has the upper hand, then Grievous pulls out not one but four lightsabers and tells him he’s been trained by the guy Obi-Wan couldn’t defeat twice, and Obi-Wan is thrown into a difficult fight.

I think Matthew Wood’s line read is so good on it, and I always miss it whenever I watch LOE (which has otherwise completely replaced the theatrical cut as my preferred version to watch).
