Info: My attempt at color correcting the GOUT (Outdated thread - though lots of info)
Time

An alternate point of view - at the risk of a ticking off is.....

(This is a general observation as I do not know the full history behind the comments from DJ or others involved higher up this thread)

For every decent, honest member of these forums over the years who really do give a damn about what we are here for, there have always been a steady stream of obnoxious knob-heads who basically piss off the decent folk.

Look back at the oldest threads and see some of the names of people back then who formed this community and many are long gone. My guess is that many were simply driven away.....

In my 7 1/2 years here, I have spent twice as much time not taking part as taking part because of the idiots. Most of my interactions with members has been via PM's and e-mail just to keep away from some of the crap that flies about here.

In my opinion, it is those just here to stir up trouble who should be banned and not the people who are reacting to crap being thrown their way.

The same things that annoy DJ annoy me too but I just react differently or just bugger off for a year or two.

Info Wanted: Help, I'm new! :/ (looking for a good OOT preservation)
Time

I have all my PAL VHS collection (Fullscreen, Widescreen, Executor Box Set) on an external HDD as well as about half of my "Star Wars collection" so I can check versions with a few mouse clicks......

All versions need capturing and preserving. There is no such thing as too many!!

Meanwhile, here are my Youtube clips for info

"Classic Star Wars" Comic Collections: Should I get them?
Time

The original newspaper strips are available to view at various sites across the web, with one inparticular showing one strip per day in the same way they were done back in the day....

http://dailysw.blogspot.co.uk/

I know that they do not show the format printed in the Classic Star Wars or Classic Star Wars - The Early Adventures, but at least you can judge for yourself if they are worth getting or not.

The only answer by the way is "Yes they are worth getting"

Anything with the original Star Wars film cast in it is 10 times better than anything with any other characters in it, which makes them better than most of the last 10 years of Dark Horse output in my very humble opinion.

Help: looking for... Lossless mono/stereo audio
Time

CatBus said:

Thanks. I'm trying to make/have good lossless masters for all of the original 77/80/83 audio.  Mono was easy, and I haven't downloaded 77 SW yet, but at least right now, I'm using Darth Mallwalker's 80 ESB and 83 ROTJ captures.  Did Belbucus upload original stereo mixes for ESB and ROTJ too?

The DM captures sound fantastic, but they're split into three captures apiece, making GOUT sync a little hairy.  I'm also trying to accommodate the couple-frames of sync difference in ROTJ for PAL-based preservations, which makes things a touch more complicated.

Dark Jedi was working on doing this too so a lot of this might already have been done, or, as he hates syncing audio that much, you might be able to save him some of the hard work.

Check out the following thread from Post 31

Digital Source for the '77 Stereo Mix
Time

The pre - THX Pan and Scan releases swapped back and forth between the Fox logo from the round zero of 20 to the slanting zero of 20. I put up a few screen shots here in Post 1.

The fanfare may also be different as well but I have never checked too closely....

I am sure there is a thread somewhere listing other audio differences between the 85 mix and others but cannot find it!!!!

Livestream of The Phantom Menace PSX/PC game. LIVE AGAIN AT 7:30 PST TONIGHT!
Time

If my computer could manage streaming a screen capture, and if I lived in a more appropriate timezone, I'd stream Rogue Squadron, because I love that game. It introduced me to Star Wars and I've played it since 1998! Memories, memories...

I would tune in for that. I only re-installed Rogue Squadron on my PC last night, got the N64 out of the loft and started ebay bidding on the memory expansion pak so that I can play both versions again. This is my favourite Star Wars game ever.....
