A DVD5 disc always used to be the standard allowing menu's and extra's but standalone *.avi files now seems to be acceptable amongst other formats..
I say to do it in your preferred format and keep doing the same until someone convinces you otherwise. Or let them convert it to their preferred format themselves......
The Belbucus audio is the analogue track from the Standard Play CAV Pan and Scan Laser Disc so is not time compressed.

For every decent, honest member of these forums over the years who really do give a damn about what we are here for, there have always been a steady stream of obnoxious knob-heads who basically piss off the decent folk.
Look back at the oldest threads and see some of the names of people back then who formed this community and many are long gone. My guess is that many were simply driven away.....
In my 7 1/2 years here, I have spent twice as much time not taking part as taking part because of the idiots. Most of my interactions with members has been via PM's and e-mail just to keep away from some of the crap that flies about here.
In my opinion, it is those just here to stir up trouble who should be banned and not the people who are reacting to crap being thrown their way.
The same things that annoy DJ annoy me too but I just react differently or just bugger off for a year or two.
One last point I will make is that looking at Luke in the foreground on the 1984 Fullscreen version, the facial scars and hair is far clearer and sharper than every other comparison shot. Maybe there is something "better" about the 1984 version.

I have all my PAL VHS collection (Fullscreen, Widescreen, Executor Box Set) on an external HDD as well as about half of my "Star Wars collection" so I can check versions with a few mouse clicks......
All versions need capturing and preserving. There is no such thing as too many!!

I have not tried doing anything with the audio so I guess you could be right.
If you have a way of putting that right with your next upload, it would be a standard and straightforward remux, the same as every other GOUT mix out there... (that I am aware of)
I look forward to the new and improved version.
Hopefully by the time that is available, I will have worked out why the original version is about 8 minutes short when I sync it to the GOUT even though I am doing the same as I have always done for all my re-muxing.....!!!!

I know that they do not show the format printed in the Classic Star Wars or Classic Star Wars - The Early Adventures, but at least you can judge for yourself if they are worth getting or not.
The only answer by the way is "Yes they are worth getting"
Anything with the original Star Wars film cast in it is 10 times better than anything with any other characters in it, which makes them better than most of the last 10 years of Dark Horse output in my very humble opinion.
I have just been re-reading the Pan and Scan OBITUARY thread and seen that my 1987, 1988 and 1989 Star Wars Fullscreen releases did not have the tractor beam line that was in the 1985 mix.
Another instance alongside the 1991 Japanese Laserdisc from this thread where an older audio mix - not the current audio mix - was used on a retail release.

The DM captures sound fantastic, but they're split into three captures apiece, making GOUT sync a little hairy. I'm also trying to accommodate the couple-frames of sync difference in ROTJ for PAL-based preservations, which makes things a touch more complicated.
Dark Jedi was working on doing this too so a lot of this might already have been done, or, as he hates syncing audio that much, you might be able to save him some of the hard work.

The pre - THX Pan and Scan releases swapped back and forth between the Fox logo from the round zero of 20 to the slanting zero of 20. I put up a few screen shots here in Post 1.
The fanfare may also be different as well but I have never checked too closely....
I am sure there is a thread somewhere listing other audio differences between the 85 mix and others but cannot find it!!!!

This may show other lines that prove your findings.
Try a search for Belbucus or Miscellaneous Belbucus and you should find something that is not "years and years" old.
The "Audio for GOUT projects" are a few days shy of three years old so may be a wee bit hard to get with some providers.
If this is not the 85 remix but a digital version of the analogue sound on 1130-84, this is a good find....
I would have a look on the alt.binaries.starwars newsgroup.....
It may still be there.
The opening shots of Ep III as seen at midnight in the cinema at the first screening were second only to seeing the opening shots of Star Wars in the cinema back in 1977.
In my opinion, the opening shots of the other 4 films are not as good.....
