The "EditDroid" Trilogy DVD Info and Feedback Thread (Released)
Time
dont mean to post this over and over, but just wanted to know if a cover of this was found or made yet.

Covers, inserts and disc labels for this set are now posted over in alt.binaries.starwars, by someone who in a previous post referred to themselves as "The Creator" so I guess that these could be the originals.

Thanks for that although I suspected that is what you had done in the end.

A big Thank You from me for all your work so far and looking forward to the pre-ANH splitscreen should you ever get around to it.

Back to the issue of the two Mono soundtracks that are out there at the moment.

Just read again the comments from the creators of the mysterious version, and the bootleg telecine VHS apparantly has sections of audio missing from the reel changes.

So who wants to edit together both copies to create a complete soundtrack?

Does anyone actually have both the original version of what we now know as as the "Mysterious Mysteries" edition for the Mono soundtrack and the other recently done Mono soundtrack discussed elsewhere on this board.

In the hands of the right people, I am sure that an edit to give a complete soundtrack could be done.

Or alternatively the original version of what we now know as as the "Mysterious Mysteries" edition which contains the mono, Dolby Stereo and matrixed 6 channel soundtracks, should this version ever become widely available.

However, just seeing the original and "A New Hope" crawls, one on top of the other, will be more than enough for me.............

Star Wars - The Edits and DVDr releases thread
Time
I am in the process of compiling details of all known DVD releases of both OT and SE versions of all the Original Trilogy films.

This would then be put onto a website for all to see.

I have two reasons for doing this.

The first is to make a quick and simple guide for all to work out what version they have and how it compares to others.
The terms TR47, Dr Gonzo, Farsight etc. do not mean anything to many people when they first visit places such as originaltrilogy.com or a.b.starwars etc.

The second reason is to try to find other versions that are currently available and bring them to the attention of others.

The information I am looking for is as follows.............

Possible identifying name of film or trilogy
Is it DVD5 or 9
Is there a menu?? (Screenshot of menu if possible.)
No of folders on disc.
No of files in folders.
No of chapters.
Details of soundtracks.
Details of any subtitles.
Details of extras.
Where is the film or trilogy available from.

I have already sourced much of what I need for this project but I still need details of the Five Star SE and the various German SE's discussed around these parts recently. Somewhere else I read about yet another Ep 4 release that also existed.

No doubt there are many more versions out there and ALL help is appreciated in detailing these versions.

Usenet tutorial?
Time
The latest version 2.0 of Forte Agent (which you can try free for 30 days) handles rar, par, par2 and all other files superbly.

Each file can be downloaded at the click of a button as all the parts of a file are joined. On the old Free Agent, all parts had to be downloaded seperately and joined which was a major pain (the TR47 ESB post has 201 parts to all 100 or so rar files!!)

The program also allows yEnc encoded files to be posted and downloaded. I will let Darth Osar explain that one but basically the same posted file can be download in less than half the time.

I get access through my ISP as part of my normal standard monthly bill and all the posts are shown, mostly in full. Those that are missing can be repaired using the magical par2 files mentioned earlier.

Another bonus of Usenet is time. A torrent of a DVD that takes approx 6 full days for me to download drops to 36 to 48 hours on Usenet!!!

It has been said before and I will say it again, alt.binaries.starwars is the place to be and it fits perfectly with what is happenning here at originaltrilogy.com and the various torrent sites.

STAR WARS: The Torrents thread

It's not the added windows that are a problem it is where the original windows/frames have been changed in one shot and back to the original windows/frames again in later shots.

The new windows and some existing ones that have been changed all show a bright red sky but a few seconds later other windows have the original bright white sky.

The strangest change is Darth Vader talking to the Emperor.

One close-up shot in the 2004 version is identical to the original. A few seconds later the shot is a mirror image including the background. A bit later, it is back to normal again.

It is all the more obvious because Vader moves one way in the original version and the other way in the 2004 version.

The splitscreen really emphasises these errors.
