Info: Non-English (UK/US) language versions of the 2006 GOUT Theatrical DVD release.
Time

There are two parts to this request. Firstly I am looking to find and catalogue all worldwide releases of the 2006 GOUT Theatrical DVD releases and either have this information as a post on OT.com or as a seperate webpage.

So far, I am aware of versions released in Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Australia, Sweden and Canada. I suspect there are more so can anyone help me prove it. All links appreciated.

Secondly, I am looking to ultimately own as many of these as possible but am mostly interested at first in Episode IV copies with different languages, particularly those released in Japan, Germany, Italy.

Has anyone got any info for me or anything for sale or trade???

Info: 1992 VHS Set - Star Wars Trilogy Special Letterbox Collector's Edition - any special and/or redeeming qualities?

at some point, it would be nice to have EVERY version

that was on VHS digitized.

Even if they are just for reference of the different ways the films have been treated ofer the years. My rough recordings of my PAL collection to a DVD recorder showed various missing Fox logo and fanfare, squeezed shots, different Pan and Scan choices and wildly different colours.

The quality of source is rubbish, the recordings I made are rubbish but it was worth every second I spent doing it.

However, what is happening here is total quality and I second the quote above from  negative1.

RETURN OF THE JEDI story LP (Released)
Time

I am not a huge fan of RotJ and have only seen it a few times, the first time being around 10 years after the film came out even though I saw the first films in the theatre.

So for me, this is the perfect shortened way to see the film to make it more bearable. I have listened to the audio before many years ago on some streaming site but could not picture in my head how it would look compared to how it sounded.

You have done a good job with this. Yes, there are lots of jump cuts but unfortunately, that is what the audio demands. Thankfully, none are too jarring. Likewise, the use of stills is handled well and they look OK as well?

All in all a good project and well worth the wait........

These are the releases I have found so far of the GOUT 2 disc set only.

US Widescreen and Fullscreen

UK

Australia

Sweden

France

Germany

Japan

Italy

Are there any more that I have missed so far?? Portugal, Brazil, South America, Canada etc???? Links or catalogue numbers would be appreciated to help me track down those I have missed.

Once I have all the info I need, I will compile it together with full details (inc ASIN and EAN numbers) of the releases and what I can prove to be the various audio and subtitles on each disc. As helpful as Amazon listings are, they do not split the audio and subtitles per disc and just have a general listing so I need other sources as well.

EDIT: A quick search of the Blu Ray releases brings up 11 different country audio's and 26 different country subtitles. Pretty impressive

A summary of GOUT synced Video, Audio and Subtitle sources - WORK IN PROGRESS

Is there a GOUT-sync'ing how-to somewhere on OT? I would like to GOUT-sync my '92 Letterbox captures after I'm done with PS78.

I read this as a "how do I GOUT sync a random video (or audio) to the GOUT to which the answer is that this is not the droid you are looking for. I have not got the foggiest how to do this.

If it is as per the last response, stripping (demuxing) a known GOUT source and remuxing with another GOUT source, the answer is that it is pathetically easy (on a Windows PC with free software) and I will gladly  help anyone out...

russs15: Can you list the sources (e.g., GOUT, '93 LD, etc.) for each video entry?

I have started going back through the list to add whatever info I can regarding the source of the audio as well as the bitrate. I have so far only got as far as the DJ V3 set but will complete the list as soon as possible.

Also, I've just learned that Darth Mallwalker's IVTC script for The Starkiller's 1982 Video Rental Library VHS preservation does GOUT-sync'ing as well.

I was going to add that tonight as I have just read the response from Darth Mallwalker in the other thread

EDIT: I have added the script and if anyone else can help me identify sources of any of the audio's from Post 1 that do not have a source against them, it would be very helpful

I had a much smaller topic idea of simply listing all the different country audio varieties of the GOUT along with whatever subtitles they contain. This is a follow on from my "GOUT synced" and "PAL GOUT synced" topic

By default, I expect that this research would also tell me what audio and subtitles the 2004 SE contains.

I have a few details that I will dig out and post here soon........

Preserving the "German" Original Trilogy (Released)
Time

Apologies for a quick off-topic question...

Can anyone confirm if the German 2006 Limited Edition release of the full Original Trilogy including the GOUT theatrical release discs have Turkish subtitles on either or both discs? Amazon.de is not too clear so I hoped someone here could advise. ie....

http://www.amazon.de/Star-Wars-Episode-Hoffnung-Original-Kinoversion/dp/B000FO8968/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1342565997&sr=1-2

I am more concerned about the subtitles being on the GOUT discs at this time. If they do exist, does anyone have them?

Sorry about this but I figured this was the obvious place to ask.  Moving along.....

How about Mr. Morgan's ESB 70mm in theater recording: http://www.wideanglecloseup.com/starwarsaudio.html (scroll down)

I second this.

Using a High(ish) Quality audio would be totally out of place. Imagine if you had a missing section of video and replaced it with 2004 DVD or 2011 Blu Ray footage? It would be out of place...

My second choice would be the DJ V3 theatrical stereo and third would be the Definitive Collection commentary track as seen on the Dr Gonzo DVD.

Going off at a complete tangent, how about an isolated score like the one on the DJ V3.

I have highlighted some of the different dialogue differences here...

If there are any gaps you can help me fill in, I would appreciate it.

Info & Releases: The Un-Official Dark Jedi Laserdisc Preservation Mega-Thread
Time

I woke up today and decided that it was "Update an old post and bump an old topic for an old pal day"

Consequently, I have updated Post 1 which is a subtle reminder about what DJ has done over the years. Much of what we now take for granted around here has had DJ somewhere in the middle doing a lot of hard work.

Should he ever come back here, I welcome him. He will also be a better man than me as I would not be back!!

If he does not come back then all those over many years who have done what they have done to trigger the events of the last few weeks have finally won.

Congratulations.

Well done.

Your work here is done.........
