The Bad Batch (animated series) - a general discussion thread
Time

A few articles / interviews / PR pieces with the creators doing the rounds for the show’s premiere (now available to watch)…

Star Wars: The Bad Batch crew talks season length, Omega and Imperial oppression’:-

^ According to the article there will be 16 episodes for the first season.

The Bad Batch proves Star Wars animation still has a story to tell’:-

If You’ve Never Watched A Star Wars Animated Series Before, ‘The Bad Batch’ May Be For You’:-

I’m hoping that The Bad Batch tells its own story and doesn’t become a vehicle for correcting mistakes and shortfalls of the Sequel films. Much Like The Clone Wars and Rebels attempted to with the Prequels - instead of focusing on telling new original stories of that era.

Discussion: Star Wars Model Kits - why so expensive?
Time

Have they jumped up in price of late mate - or is it a thing that being going on for a while?

What sort of lines of models are you looking at?

I used to be somewhat up on the Star Wars models - though there were so many differing toy and model lines… they all began to blur into one, and I began to lose interest. Especially given the prices of some of them, or lack of availability as collectors and scalpers would snap many of the more intriguing models and toys up.

Discussion: Star Wars Clothing

Sweet designs 😃

I didn’t see a discussion for it.

What is your favourite Star Wars related clothing item you own?

You’re right - though there a there a few clothing threads located around the site - they can be somewhat hard to find (or remember where they are)…

So I’ve added a few of the ‘clothing threads’ to the An Index for Collections, Toys and Memorabilia - hopefully it’ll make them somewhat easier to come by.

I love the ‘wind-up’ AT-AT design on these old ILM t-shirts from back in the day…

And the ‘Marin Unit’ seemed to have some quality gear…

My personal favourite non-OT t-shirt is a fan-made one I managed to get hold of from teepublic - link:-

Aside from obviously watching the premiere of The Bad Batch on May 4th, this year may be the first time I postpone any actual traditions or celebration to May 25th, almost solely because of the things I’ve learnt since joining this site.

There are also 7/8 discussion threads to be found that celebrate the 25th May in the ‘Star Wars Anniversaries’ section of An Index & Help Thread for Original Trilogy Discussion.

👍

Yet for some of us big kids…

Indeed - I’ll be using the 4th May to think up ways of how to celebrate Star Wars Day… the 25th May 😉

You should - if you choose to… 😃

Many others and myself choose not to - especially given how the ‘4th May pun becoming Star Wars Day’ thing came about.

For many of us in the UK there is nothing to celebrate there. Though fair play to those that choose to do so…

It would appear the whole ‘4th May’ thing has become a pun / annual event to sell more tat for some - rather than celebrate Star Wars itself (something which Disney / Lucasfilm already does very well at; see Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary for selling tat on anniversaries… rather than celebrating the rich history of 50 years in film & tv etc).

There are obvious reasons why Lucasfilm get a little jittery and selective when discussing the history of Star Wars - as the three OT films in their original form… which underpin the whole of the GFFA… haven’t available to watch and experience for over 25 years now… (intentional substandard bonus DVD disc release in 2006, apart). That it is easier and more beneficial for them to market such anniversaries / dates as exercises in selling new or discounted merch - rather than celebrate and highlight how they made the films… which brings the focus back around to the many changes made to them over time; and many of the original scenes no longer being available to view and enjoy (not forgetting the effort, skill & craftsmanship that went into them).

Some fans will likely prefer to celebrate the 25th May instead - for various reasons… such as that being the actual day of release for both Star Wars and Return Of The Jedi - as well as a host of other GFFA content released over the years on this date (also including those people who may oppose rampant capitalism and mass consumerism; or simply resent the trading of a celebration of landmark film history in for a cheap pun in an attempt to sell yet more merch etc) - which has been the case for many a fan on here over the years.

Though, as above… fair play to those celebrate both dates (or those for whom every day is Star Wars Day!)

Rodney-2187 said:

Why aren’t they in The Volume? They have four of them don’t they?

Could be that certain light conditions for outdoor shots are still ‘better’ with outdoor / on location shooting?

I think it is something like that that from one of the Mandalorian BTS / Disney Gallery episodes - though not 100% on it (for ‘The Marshal’ and also ‘The Tragedy’ episodes?).

(Or maybe something akin to blowing something up / setting something on fire - and it needs to be shot outside?)

“I Have the Career I Started Out Wanting” - a new Ewan McGregor interview with THR; talking about the series mostly being in The Volume, still (and his days with green screen on the Prequels).

THE RISE OF SKYWALKER: THE TEAM DALE REWRITE — AVAILABLE NOW

TestingOutTheTest said:

Oh, God… hope I can go through this and explain why I feel you, alongside everyone else, even the most loyal defenders of TLJ (also coming from a TLJ defender, unironically), miss the point of TRoS and why your guys’ arguments are invalid.

TestingOutTheTest said:

Then why do people defend movies in the first place, including TLJ? The Internet is a digital battlefield. We’re all trying to convince each other that X is good or bad, we defend movies we like or criticize movies we hate. TLJ defenders, for example, try to convince TLJ haters that their criticisms are wrong and filled with ignorance, to snap them out of their ignorance and see the light.

Anyone is free to discuss the merits or shortcomings of the official releases of the films in the various threads in the Star Wars section.

In the ‘Fan Projects’ section of the site… members show the people who’ve made projects here civility and some semblance of respect. This is not some sort of ‘digital battlefield’ - far from it.

Should you want to question why a project creator has made a certain choice, decision or path… go right ahead - many on here will engage in discourse with you - or even suggesting ideas for improvements and so forth; though as above… do it with civility, some semblance of respect, and politeness.

If you don’t like what a project creator has done on here - feel free to find another project more akin to your taste - or try attempting your own.

People who insult project creators or make derogatory comments about their project choices don’t last long on here.

I suggest you take note of Cadavra’s polite reply post to you.
