I really dislike the added Jabba scene in the SE, and not only for the obvious and poorly executed CGI either.
In my opinion Han would have managed to get off Tatooine WAY before Jabba even got the chance to catch up with him.
In fact, I don’t think Han would be careless enough to leave any trails to allow Jabba to discover where the Falcon was docked.
Han was better than that!Just another thing to mess up Han’s character, and is right up there with the ‘Greedo shoots’ scene for me!
Well, the problem is the scene was originally made back when the rest of Star Wars was originally made. You make it sound it’s something Lucas thought up years later. He just didn’t have time to add in an effect to replace the stand in actor back in the 70s so the scene got cut.
You refer to the professional theatre, tv & film actor Declan Mulholland hired to play the role of Jabba - playing the role in made to measure and full screen-ready costume?
It is well documented that George was short on money and time whilst filming Star Wars - so it is surprising he went to the lengths - and cost - to hire a professional actor and then also fitted him out with a screen-ready costume… especially if he was planning to then going to replace him with ‘an effect’ later.
Surely a stage hand or anybody around the set willing to do a ‘stand-in’ would have been a lot cheaper, quicker and easier… than going to above lengths?
As Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz pointed out… the Jabba scene is also fairly redundant as the audience has already learnt much of the same information - and dialogue - from in the Greedo Cantina scene.
Along with Kurtz’ quotes on the subject of “… and that character was originally going to be a human being”, and also “Jabba is [now] this a giant slug rather than a human being… the sightlines are a bit odd… the position of the characters… if that had been the way the original scene was going to be shot… it would have been shot differently”.
That there are no plans, sketches or mentions of an alien slug-like Jabba prior to shooting the film is also an indicator that Jabba was - as he originally appeared for the shooting of the film - a human.
Lucas attempting to go back in time and alter scripts/screenplays to fit with his later narrative claims also raises issues on him once again ret-conning history to fit in with his later and grander ‘vision’(s)…
More information on this can be found here - George Lucas: Unreliable Narrator & Time Travelling Revisionist…; in Category No. 9 - ‘Jabba originally was a human; from planning to filming…’
MonkeyLizard10 - If you could also limit your posts made one after the other it’d much appreciated mate (eight consecutive posts in a short space of time is a bit much) - you can use the ‘Edit’ button in the future to help place your content/replies into one post.

There is also some information on the title of Episode IX - and what it could mean too…

Remember when all the fanart for 7 showed the rusted husk of the Falcon?
I wish we got that movie.
Like this?
It does look an intriguing concept - maybe even a good place for an alternative opening shot for VII…
Mannie Both-Hanz turns up alive with vital information to the Rebel cause just in the nick of time.
The camera then cuts to a silent Mon Mothma… who is still staring sadly into the distance…
I believe this is it mate (the image used may have varied for some countries?):-

From the wiki page on The Phantom Edit (not a great image - but you get the gist of it):-
Some more info about The Phantom Edit can be found in the ‘An Index Thread for Star Wars Fan Edits and Other Projects…’ thread - it has it’s own section there too, mate.
Below is a ‘cover’ image is from the ‘Star Wars – The Fandom Editors – A Real New Hope’ article at GeekDad.com - though I am not sure if it is an alternative or later cover from the DVD or VHS - a fan made cover - or just a promo poster / cover for TPE…
(I’m guessing at a fan-made DVD cover image)

Rikter has some quality DVD covers based on it (there is a link to Rikter’s collection of early Star Wars covers in the DVD Covers Index thread) - he may have, or know of, some VHS covers too?
It has been a long time - but may be worth asking him (a fountain of knowledge, Star Wars rarities and a great guy too)…
Let us know if you do find a hi-res or decent quality cover images, and please post them up here 😃
^ sweet Jay - thank for you that mate.
I am consulting the diary (aka the missus) - hopefully should able to make the 4th October showing…
Good to see the events are selling well too. Full respect to the BFI 😃
I’m still trying to figure out why Luke, if he wanted to be left to die, and wanted the Jedi to end, goes to the planet where there is a Force tree, and where the first Jedi Temple set up shop.
How in the hell does that make any sense?
And who gave Tekka that piece of the map?
And why let R2-D2 have the rest of the map if he didn’t want to be found?Just poor plot devices to drive a poor narrative forward.
The whole thing is an utter mess of nonsense starting with The Force Awakens.
The answers you seek are in this thread (or the TLJ Ratings/Opinion thread) - having already been discussed a few times 😉
Good luck with it mate 😃
^ mate, this is a thread for Rian Johnson’s new Star Wars Trilogy - not to bash on Disney, TLJ, RJ, parks etc; there are several other threads which address and discuss those issues on here.
Though, if you are going to post claims such as this (which seemingly reads like something you picked up from a negative youtube video channel) please post them in a more relevant thread. Though be prepared to be asked for some facts or evidence to back your claims up - or to give credence to them.
In the interests of balance… a random recourse to similar claims you have made in here, yet taken from another thread…
Two movies in the top 10 all-time domestic box office list and a third at #12 is tanking? I bet a lot of people wish they could tank like that.
1.The Force Awakens - $936,662,225
2.Avengers: Endgame - $858,041,646
9.The Last Jedi - $620,181,382
12.Rogue One - $532,177,324
Plus, a new streaming service with various new and made-for Star Wars content, 2 new film trilogies, theme parks, hotels, rides, considerable new animated content aimed at younger fans, new blu ray film releases, rumoured 4K releases, more comics and books released, games too, as well as a range of merchandise aimed for wider groups of fans than ever before…
Disney also recouped it’s outlay to purchase Lucasfilm a year or so ago from cinema takings of the film revenue alone…
A small, but vocal corner of fandom online may not like a new film or two (or have issues with the supposed direction) - though seems the franchise itself is doing just fine (racist, sexist, homophobic trolls, bots, troll farms, toxicity and monetised agenda-led clickbait apart).
On Rian Johnson himself… he delivered a main Saga film seemingly without the production issues suffered on some other Star Wars films, on budget, on time, which made a $1.3billion on cinema tickets alone worldwide, and sold 3 million blu rays & 1 million DVDs in the US alone in 7 months. Disney seem so impressed with his work and abilities that they have trusted him to come up with a new & separate Star Wars Trilogy…
Nothing much has changed since - though some information about the new trilogy would be most welcome 😉
Now back on topic…
Edit: spoilery info REDACTED by moderator
You’ll understand should you choose to read the spoilers.
Please don’t refer to possible events based on the supposed leaked spoilers outside the Episode IX spoiler thread on here mate - thank you.
^ Seems they’re putting some effort into these trailers… 😃

Any other scenes you’d like to see in TROS, Sohail Mccarthy?
I mean, when I think about it, Darth Sidious/Vader must have had something more interesting to do with their time than moping about and doing evil stuff. Did they even do anything? Space graffiti, space volunteering, space Tinder?
Have you any other thoughts on hobbies for the Sith, Sohail Mccarthy?
An image screenshot of the ‘Star Wars fans seek long, long ago edition’ article from the Chicago Tribune’s Metromix website, from October 2005, in this thread’s opening post - by none:-
^ which can also be viewed on the Internet Archive’s WayBack Machine:-
Weird press skq3w:
The move is a direct response to popular demand, according to Lucasfilm spokesman John Singh. “The biggest question we’ve ever gotten from Star Wars fans is, ‘When are you going to release the originals?’ A Web site called originaltrilogy.com, in the last year alone, gathered 72,000 signatures asking for their release. We love that passion.”
Somethings odd with the wording/paraphrasing but if John Singh is saying incorrect things about OT.com, they’re either using this as a marketing ploy (which they figure no one will check to see if the facts are correct), or they just don’t care or they are watching and we’ll have to wait to see how their lackies respond.

Bluto’s comprehensive and quality ’Guide to Downloading Projects from Usenet’ thread, in the How-To’s and Technical Discussions section of the site, may also be of interest for those members looking to acquire Harmy’s Despecialized Editions - or TN1’s 4K OT Preservation Projects.
solkap’s ’NJVC Custom Blu-ray Set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions now available on Mega’ thread - with helpful and concise step-by-step guide - is a great option on how to acquire this particular Set.
I thought the above is also worth mentioning in here to help people find another method of obtaining projects on here.
Those are truly superb guides Bluto and solkap! Well done and thank you both 😃
Indeed mate - both are very helpful Guides which very likely took considerable time, effort and dedication to come up with.
Massive respect and appreciation to both Bluto and solkap - and also to towne32, of course 😃

I think you’ve already covered most (if not all) of the publicised scene changes to Rogue One, though I hope this may be of some small help:
Going to steal’em all, and paste on the first post! 😉
Oh well, better to add a “simple” link to your post here! 😄

I thought this may be of some interest to you, mate (if you haven’t already seen it?):-
I’d love to see more of the deleted/cut character-based scenes such as the one above - though it does seem unlikely…
A little more from Charles Soule on the coming ‘Rise Of Kylo Ren’ comics…

Sorry, ZkinandBonez - there’s no mention on who’ll be illustrating the series.
https://www.fanfilms.net/index.php may be a good bet for some help in locating what you seek mate.
Someone at http://www.theraider.net/community/theater/index.php - or other similar Indy fan sites - may also be in a position to help.
http://www.chrisstuckmann.com himself also may be worth asking too.
Good luck with it 😃
Another thing The Force Awakens nailed was… Harrison’s departure from Star Wars / Solo’s death:-
‘Harrison Ford on the death of Han Solo: “It’s not that I wanted Han Solo to die, I wanted Han Solo to be able to lend some significant emotional weight to the story. I was resolved to be useful and to pass on responsibilities to others and get out of the way.”’
^ https://twitter.com/brehaorganas/status/1172695950365618176 (with video)
The scene was beautifully done and shot, and certainly had that emotional resonance that had an affect on this new story, and also it’s characters - both old and new, too.
