My SW Locations Book is coming Dec 1 - Please check it out!

It's not going to be super noticable when watching but in the scene of Obi talking to Padme in RotS, they've basically windowed off a rectangle and increased the whites around Obi.  It stands out when Difference blending the 2004 and 2011 sets.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

doubleofive wrote: The only things I'm pretty sure I'm missing are Ewok blinks, which kind of stand out. Other than that, I'm fairly certain we've got them.

One issue with the DIF is the resolution they were done at.  Some things could possibly be missed like if they had added the extra R2 limps to the other shots near the Bunker, but I checked and they only modified the close ups.  So things on the smaller scale could have been missed.  The DIF is also not good for finding dark subtle changes, like garbage matte removal.

Harmy, even thou pics might not be available at the moment, i've got timecode for all the DIF spotted changes in the FAQ:

http://www.archive.org/details/DIF-Star.Wars_2004x2011_480

So all the Ewok eyes can be found this way.  (the timecode is a little off as a german crawl version was used, so once you find one change, write down how many seconds it's off and subtract from the times.  Think on SW the DIF is +20, so subtract 20 secs to get approximate GOUT times.

There are things which Lucasfilm missed, for instance there's an additional shot with a blue escape pod lid which they didn't change.  I'm hoping i'm remembering to put that in the Shot Spreadsheet...

Complete Comparison of Special Edition Visual Changes

Not knowing where this scene was, thought it during the DS attack, there's two scenes also taking place in a hallway.  Those two shots don't appear to have this type of change applied to them.  Nice catch.

Harmy wrote: because the animation of the mask and the handling of the levels

What aspect of the levels makes this apparent?  Wondering if another setting change applied to the whole movie might bring out more of these type of revisions.  The DIF sorta hit a dead end, until a program can auto resize to solve the scaling variations.

Help Wanted: Looking for people who speak German, French, Spanish, or Brazilian Portuguese
Time

If you'd like to do other languages, websites like moviesubtitles.org have many versions.  My guess is this site and the ones like it pull down torrent and usenet feeds and pull out the .srt and other subtitle files and then add them to the library.  So there are problems periodically.  Once a good set is found, the problem will be adjusting the timing, but as the subs are mostly sourced from retail, they are accurate, when a good set is found.

Even if we don't know the language, having multiple .srts with similar timing structures will let you know where to time them out, and can use google translate to get an approximation of what's being said to know where to place the sub.

What program are you using to do the subs?  I had considered something similar but on the Mac, DVDStudioPro doesn't allow you to move multiple subs at once, major problem.  Also finding a program which allows you to import different flavors/formats of subtitle files is also important.

When you upload an image to imageshack.us they make the code for a thumbnail version.  Under the image -> embed thumbnails of this image -> HTML, copy that code and 'Preview' in the OT.com post:  will look like this:

Laserschwert, when this recreation comes to a conclusion, would like to read more about your font size choices and things related to these credit recreations.  They're welcomed in the credits thread, as someone else will possibly build upon what's you've accomplished.

doubleofive wrote: Do we really want to get in on the spacing?

Yes!  The pic mverta posted recently to SWLegacy will hopefully lead to more, as he will attempt to contact his sources for more info on how the credits were created.  Speculation is that the credits were done on glass and the drop shadow was a byproduct of that system.  Haven't seen them yet but mverta noted that the drop shadow was not consistent over the whole frame.  Which could mean it was done internally with a light source which was close enough to shift the drop shadow, to what degree, don't know.  [but as they've done the open crawl outside, maybe the credits were done that way too, don't know]

other full credit pics are available here: http://fd.noneinc.com/Credits/  but most are in the thread doubleofive mentioned.

Laserschwert's version looks great.  The copyright symbol at the end looks little big and I wonder if the 'c' is actually on the same line as the rest of the text, so the circle dips a little.  But things look spot on, sucks our sources are less informative.

Does the system e-mail update for every pic added or just once until you view the page.  It's going to take me a week or so to add the ones which were just posted in this thread.  So question away on any of them.

I'm doing a version where all the pics are named to match the scene/shot spreadsheet, i've been putzing with, and i'm a little behind getting those numbers to the place i'd like them.  Having the spreadsheet will also help you organize the pics as you can just follow the Changes in 97/04 column and scroll down till the change color shows up next and read the scene or change description column.  I notice another out of order, there are two of the Tantive in the bay of the SD next to each other but they are actually multiple scenes apart.

The removal of the blue and red lights on the left side of Greedo to me say that they went in and purposely manipulated the background to put Greedo in a silhouette.

Generally overall SW 2011 is brighter but not Greedo:

no sign of any background elements.

Here's the GOUT/2004 comparison brightness maxed and contrast min'd:

The lights seem to have been painted out, and the whole right side is not recognnizable.

Shot List Spreadsheet - v0.6.05 - 6 films - <strong>Multiple SW Audio Mix Changes Added Recently</strong>

Anyone familiar with Script Writing, specifically scene numbering rules or guidelines?  Although the Script is more or less flushed out, there are scenes where i've got to go in and add some sub-scene values and i'm expanding with  shot numbers which i've never heard of being done.

In this 4th SW draft, typically most location changes are given a new scene number.  But there are cases, like the end of the trash compactor sequence, where two locations (scene numbers) are intercut.  I'm leaning towards reusing the scene and sub-scene number but grouping them in the new shot number values.

Not sure how to handle the DS attack yet.  So many things are moved around or changed somewhat from the script.  How to group sequences into continuous shot values, i'm not sure of yet.

Have begun to add some and looking around for more resources/lists on the audio changes.

If you want to know more specifically, check the 'Reference' number with your actual discs.  Some releases had more then one pressing which is more easily sorted out by reference number.

Yes.  the 'Total size' is all the versions of all the files you are attempting to download.  The grey ones will be subtracted from that total as they are figured out to be redundant.  So if a 4gb dvd was uploaded to 5 services, it would say 20gb to be downloaded.  But at the end, you'd only have the 4gb dvd.

Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal

Brahmmuel L Jackson: I believe the mods should clear much of the evidence on this thread, since it may call undesired attention. Remember that these forums are public, and anyone without an account can read this thread.

It is too late for that.  Now is the time to discuss things as we were asked and when trouble comes, we all figure out the way to help those who got poked.  This may not come to bad end, like all the other projects being discussed in these forums they could go ignored.  Right now the only SW issue the projects in these forums have run into was a perceived naming conflict.  Proceed with caution, set aside some pennies for a bad day, predicting future uncertain is.
