I think the problem with the Naboo ship is the fact that it looks almost like a snap together toy rather than something that is of sturdy build quality. Elegance is definitely required when it comes to royalty, but so is protection. It appears when looking at it that it was built ONLY for elegance...

The other problem I really have with it is that it doesn't show any obvious wear and tear after running the blockade It'd be nice to see some slight smoke as it lands on Tattooine, and perhaps some slightly shoddy patch-work visible whenever it is seen after they get the parts for repairs.

Thank you for explaining my view much better than I did. =)

I have to disagree there.

The difference is down to design not in universe plausibility.

I remember seeing AOTC and being rather taken with the opening scene of a giant chrome wing landing on foggy Coruscant.

The Star Destroyer is a piece of military brutalism.

It's matte clustered detail lends it a sense of massive scale.

The Naboo ships aren't from that same design ethic.

They are meant to look light and shiny and they do.

A VC10 looks just as other worldly :

One may argue that the resolution of the digital medium and the computer model get in the way of selling the model itself but the idea is sound and plausible.

But my argument is not only of a CG model, but of interiors as well. The interior of the queen's ship looks incredibly artificial to me. The controls in the cockpit, everything looks corny to me. Shiny isn't my main issue, artificial appearances is. It all looks like it was designed by a 5 year old girl trying to dream up her own version of Star Wars ships.

Again I understand what you're saying. But new looking and fake looking are two different things. Like I said, the Star Destroyers had a new look to them in the ot, but they looked real and believable. The Queens ship looks like ship from Flight of the Navigator on the surface, and then looks like my daughters toy kitchen on the inside. It looks fake all around.

I don't know. I get what you're saying, but still, at the end of the day, the ships still need to feel lived in a bit to me. Adds that little bit of realism needed in a fantasy/scifi film. Going by this rule, the Empire should have had shiny ships, but the tie fighters were just as rough looking to me as the rebel ships. You could make an argument for the star destroyers, but at least those ships looked real. At no point did the queens ship give me the illusion of a believable flying craft. I kept looking for the Mattel and Lego markings.

I'm definitely all for a re-tooling of the look of the PT. It has none of the "second hand galaxy" feel that the OT did......its all just too new and flashy, colors like candy as opposed to more toned down palettes. It looks like a video game, or something from Star Trek.

I agree. I'll go as far and say that I hope when Ady gets done with the prequels, that they are unrecognizable from what we know them to be currently.

There will not be other official Revisited threads.

For the time being? or ever?...

That statement does have some finality to it. Makes it seem that Adywan won't be have much else to do with the boards? I doubt that, so are you simply saying there won't be anymore ESB: Revisited threads?

Why not continue this off-topic conversation there fellas?

;)

(And why insisting on fixing something's that's not necessarily broken? I think the end of ANH works the way it is, in the sense that we see Vader's fighter stop spinning and disappear into the dark vastness of space. No need to see him in an extra scene that would affect the pacing and darken the celebration mood our heroes are in when they land on Yavin 4)

Anyway, are the AT-AT lasers gonna be eventually green? ;)

No........ They will be purple. Thus sayeth Samuel L. Jackson. (THE ONLY GUY WHO GOT HIS WAY IN THE SW PREQUELS!)

Or we could just watch the opening crawl and get the gist of that information in the first 15 seconds.

I don't need it all explained to me personally, and like so many others have said on this board; everything is over-explained in the prequels. I don't need the classic films to be treated the same way.

I suppose this is as good a place as any -

As of later today, I'm a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As such, I'll be gone for two years. (Going to Idaho!)

I expect progress when I get back, guys! Thanks for hours of entertainment in watching edits, speculating, and thinking about one of the best film franchises of all time. You've given hope to those who have none! The choize is yours alone! (this is a Shmi reference for those who don't get it)

Goodbye for now,
Vladius

Good luck in your missions work. See you soon. But I figure that you can pop on now and again. Shh... Don't tell anyone, but I hear there is  internet access in Idaho. ;)

I kid, but seriously, good luck.

All these fan editors' tastes and ideas seem to conflict with each other. This one likes this, but doesn't like that. This one likes that, but doesn't like this. It's getting a bit sickening.

Remove Kamino entirely? How does this help the film?

Wow!

I can see removing silly dialogue, or cutting out worthless scenes that would make the movie better, but to take out scenes that are good regardless if they're unimportant is just rediculous. I mean, why bother gutting a movie if you're left with only half the film? What's the point?

For me (And several others) Kamino complicates the story. Jango Fett is the template for the clones, he's also involved in the attempted assassination (AKA working for Dooku) All these things should be major revelations to the Jedi for them to do further investigation... WHICH THEY NEVER DO! They don't even address the obvious question that someone in the senate might very well be in league with Dooku. There is also the scene where Yoda tells Windu that they shouldn't inform the senate of their diminished powers which would have been a good idea as that would make everyone realize that SOMEONE in the senate is a dark Jedi who is diminishing the powers of the Jedi which makes Yoda look stupid. Anyone think of Yoda as stupid in ESB? No one? Me either.

So, yes in my opinion losing Kamino helps remove all that stupid confusion. And yes it's true in results in a very short movie, but it's a testimony of how broken AOTC is as a narrative. BUt there are some which has been mentioned that would like to do a combination of the best elements of the prequel trilogy which i believe could be done well with careful planning.

You say you could cut AOTC down to about 45 minutes. Thats very interesting. Could you go through some of the cuts you'd make? I've been working on cutting TPM for so long, Im just now getting into AOTC to start whittling it down.

We may differ of course depending on how much you hate/like things in that movie. Thanks.

That's the problem with AOTC. There are so many issues and plot issues, that if you were cut it all you're not left with much movie. I find that the film makes a load more sense when Kamino is removed.

Wow. Seriously, anyone who's been on this board longer than five seconds knows that 99.9% of what Frink says is meant to be humor.

The Felicity reference was meant to be funny... It was funny. I thought it was funny. I would have thought it was funny had I used the word felicity. Finally, you should have thought it was funny. It was not a stab at your or your character.

Sincerely, get a thicker skin. (No jokes here.)

I live just out of Montreal, the Vader costume is owned by a gentleman in Ottawa (aprox 1.5 - 2 hours away). It is a screen accurate ESB Vader costume. He's also very tall.....so we're very excited to have with on board with us for this.

Very cool. Excited to see what comes of it.
