Sorry triffid - that should definitely be *it* had a collection of props and archives to rival the chap on the quadrilogy disc from all of the 4 films !
My route to work was through the link between Leicester Square's Trocadero and Picadilly Circus (where Alien War was situated) for the longest time in and around when the exhibit was running and when it was "dark" i.e.closed. I can't ever remember a flood down there - only because it would have impacted on the whole of the bottom of the Trocadero as well as the Alien War section - I certainly think that might be a bit of a bluff to cover the true story ! The sheer intensity of the experience would definitely have caused those "of a nervous disposition" to be taken to a more heightened level shall we say - so I'm inclined to believe the "unofficial" story
Indeed, the sound ad vision of "Shock & Awe" is entirely corrected thanks to good old Womble editor ! Unfortunately the picture is still below-par, but I'm happy to add it to any possible extra disc along with the full Evolution. Let's just see if we can find an un-subbed Giger's Alien and then we'll all be happy ! Though as you say Jiri, that might not be possible - unless someone has some *very* good friends in Prague
Jonno - By the way I can author a menu etc. if you want a shiny front-end for the 4.7GB evolution - unless you can do it yourself ?
Did anyone do "Alien War" when it started up in Scotland or came down to the Trocadero in London back in the 90's ? I did it 3 times, it was without doubt the best movie tie-in "ride"/"experience" whatever you want to call it !
Unfortunately (and alledgedly) someone died during one of the walkthroughs and so it was closed. At least that was the word from one of the "Colonial Marines" that worked there when it was all being broken up and shipped out. A great shame. I certainly had a collection of props and archives to rival the chap on the quadrilogy disc from all of the 4 films !
RIJIR - I think Moth3r's point was more to the fact that those sites are/were (presumably) advertising bootlegs for sale - which isn't in keeping with the nature of this board (wherebe DarkFox when you need him !), I agree with your sentiments though.
The site you've found Yoda Is Your Father is somewhat anti-Muslim if you have a look at: http://www.faithfreedom.org/challenge.htm
What always puzzles me, and has done ever since 7th July (I'm a Londoner too YIYF) - is that the British born Muslims who perpetrated the attacks on that day and every other hate-mongerer who wishes to harm and kill innocent people - LIVE (and presumably work) in the UK and obviously revel in its freedom and diversity. Yet at the same time want to do everything they can to disrupt the society that offers them so much. I'm hardly going to say "Leave if you don't like it" but it seems a strange form of hypocrisy that keeps those that want to preach hate clinging on to system that so many are obviously exploiting.
In terms of getting your edit out there for other fans - it will kinda happen itself. There are various avenues to persue such as torrents or by the pay-it-forward system that indirectly operates on various boards - send it to a few key people and the news will spread quicker than you can imagine !
Hollywood will never have an issue, imho, if the tenure of the edit is very much encouraged to be a re-envisioning of the original piece (flattering as opposed to plagiaristic). Similarly an overt message that this is intended as an experimental edit and that it should be expected that all that watch it should own the original work - whilst hardly a legal testament to the suits, will at least show goodwill on your behalf - see GreenCapt's Batman & Robin Edit, CrappyLogo's Wizard of Oz, CBB's edits and just about anything by the "big hitters" of the board: OCPMovie, ADigitalMan etc.
It should be noted that MagnoliaFan was even invited to Lucas' ranch ! So I hardly think there will be much coal-scraping if you enter into the spirit of these forums !
Good luck with the project and be sure to let us know how it's coming along
Interesting to see that "DarkFox" and "Triffid" currently have exactly the same post number, yet when you look at the content and the contributions made to the forum the difference is vast !
DarkFox - what I can't understand in all of this is that you've said in the past: "I'm outta here. I have better things to do with my time then to waste my time on forums plagued by piracy."
If that's your viewpoint then as Jay has countlessly pointed out: if you don't like it then don't post here.
What you're doing is called "trolling". But then you probably knew that didn't you...
Triffid: your posts are always fascinating and your knowledge is second-to-none. Keep on keeping on !
Sounds a great idea Jiri. Presumably the rights to the documentary can be bought by the Czech production company or do they even reside with Giger himself ?
Jiri and I have a bit of previous in the Alien world - glad that you tracked down the OT !
Indeed Luke (klokwerk) - I've got those two discs as well - they were going around Ebay back in the day and "The Archivist" the chap who originally put them out there, had a far jazzed up menu and selection screen courtesy of my good self put on his discs. However the quality of the items are not 100% as you have (both) rightly said. The Making of Aliens is only missing about 30 seconds pre-end credits. So its not so bad - but similarly I'd love to find a full version of a higher quality.
I'm sure there must be a better version of Giger's Alien out there, ideally sans subtitles. You'll also notice that from Disc 2: Alien Director's Cut Documentary - Presented by Danny Boyle - is out of synch. Bizarrely I spent my morning correcting this, so there is now a fully synched up version available. I'm sure there must be a UK user with a better version out there.
Jonno - similarly welcome to the forums ! Switch on your PM's if you are prepared for a bit of interest coming your way no doubt !
Good trick russs15 - but don't forget that VLC player (whilst being able to play nigh on everything under the sun anyway !) can play RAR files from source ! No need to rename
BTW - hugely looking forward to seeing your release Grinder ! ESB is nearly done...
Huge difference between bootlegging a pre-released film and your (and the rest of the forums') work - and the article is quite scaremongering (if its the BBC one, I haven't checked the origin).
